I am a freelance character animator and I use Autodesk Maya 2014 to do 3D animation. When I studied computer animation at the IADT in Tampa, one of my instructors taught me not to animate with the master control because it's challenging to keep the foot in place when the character is walking across the screen. My question is are you suppose to use the master control to animate the character? If so, then is their a way to keep its foot from sliding or do I have to use either the locator or the grid to keep it align?
I asked this question because when I watched the behind the scenes of Monster Inc and Toy Story 3 from Pixar Animation Studios, it looks like they're were using the master control to animate the characters.
