animago AWARD & CONFERENCE Program and Keynotes on 24/25 October 2013

· Visual effects specialists who worked on WHITE HOUSE DOWN, IRON MAN 3, OBLIVION, LOST        PLACE and more will attend the animago CONFERENCE 2013 in Potsdam-Babelsberg

· 55 international nominees in eleven categories up for the 17th animago AWARD; presentation on 24 October in the Metropolis Halle

Munich/Potsdam, 14 October 2013 – Over 1,000 visitors and prominent experts active in the 3D/Animation, Visual Effects and Visualisation industry from all over the world are expected to attend the two-day animago AWARD & CONFERENCE on 24 and 25 October in Potsdam-Babelsberg.

Visitors to the conference are invited to enjoy keynotes by VFX experts known for their work on Hollywood blockbusters such as WHITE HOUSE DOWN (Andrea Block and Christian Haas, LUXX Studios), IRON MAN 3 (Florian Gellinger, RISE | Visual Effects Studios) and OBLIVION (Thilo Ewers, Pixomondo Images) as well as by professionals from the world’s most famous source of excellence in animation, Pixar Animation Studios (Erik Smitt).

The animago Conference is one of the most important networking platforms in Germany and is geared towards the entire global digital media production industry.

Fans of the Berlin edition of the longstanding German TV series “Tatort” and its lead characters – Felix Stark (Boris Aljinovic) and Till Ritter (Dominik Raacke) – and followers of the series “Polizeiruf 110” – with its lead investigators Doreen Brasch (Claudia Michelsen) and Jochen Drexler (Sylvester Groth) – would most likely jump at the opportunity to appear in the series alongside their favourite actors: and this is exactly what they can do with the Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality applications developed by the Potsdam-based company SchreiberFriends.com for German public TV (ARD Programme Management / Event & PR) and presented a couple of weeks ago at the IFA. This live installation will be presented exclusively at the animago and visitors will be invited to dive into their favourite virtual crime-story world.

The animago festival is completed by a free trade exhibition, the animago TRADE FLOOR. More than 40 companies in the entire field of media production are present and will showcase their latest projects, technologies or services, e.g. with DIGITAL PRODUCTION, CADnetwork, PNY, Wacom, Pond5, RTT, Maxon Computer, weltenbauer. or top itservices AG.

The media.net / media.connect berlinbrandenburg network will offer regional companies and institutions a platform to showcase the work of the Berlin-Brandenburg region to a broader audience under the title “VFX & Animation – Made in Berlin-Brandenburg”. The platform is being organised in cooperation with the Brandenburg Economic Development Board (ZAB) and Berlin Partner.
Another media network initiative is a workshop with industry experts from Scandinavia: the goal of the workshop is to increase the international profile of the animago AWARD & CONFERENCE as an global competition and industry event and to create a sustainable network between the industry in Scandinavia, the capital region and animago visitors.
Among the delegation representatives are Henric Larsson (Chimney Group Sweden), Ivan Kontrup (Gost VFX Denmark), Sten Selander (Cluster Mediaevolution Sweden) and Magnus Igland Møller, Mads Juul, (The Animation Workshop Denmark). Møller and Juul are also nominated in the category “Best Young Talent Production” for their project “Rob ´n Ron”.

The actual animago AWARD will be handed out on Thursday, 24 October 2013 as the highlight of the animago CONFERENCE. 55 entries in eleven different categories are nominated this year.
