Breakdown of Reel

00:01 – 00:20 Robot Destruction shot from my time studying under Keith Kamholz (Lead FX Artist on Pacific Rim 2: Uprising) All FX are handled in Houdini. I had to use Maya to retrieve the base meshes. I was responsible for everything except the 3d modeling and character animation.

00:21 – 00:30 Growth Solver Setup is a personal project I did on my own time. I was responsible for every aspect except the 3d modeling. The models are from Turbosquid.

00:31 – 00:36 Nickelodeon’s Game Shakers is a sequence I worked on as a contractor for Aeterna Productions on Game Shakers Season 2.

00:37 – 00:41 Glass Shatter is a personal project I worked on while studying under Keith Kamholz (Lead FX Artist on Pacific Rim 2: Uprising) I was responsible for all aspects excluding the 3d modeling of the chair.

00:42 – 00:50 R&D State Change is a personal R&D project I worked on separate from class or work to try and develop a system for creating geometry from a simulated volume. I was responsible for all aspects.

00:51 – 00:59 A Fairy’s Game Portal Sequence is a sequence I worked on as the VFX Supervisor on set and was responsible for the portal FX. The FX were handled in After Effects using their native plugins as well as some 3rd party tools. A Fairy’s Game is a kids fantasy film starring Oscar Nominated actor Bruce Davison and Disney Channel’s Ava Kolker from Girl Meets World. It was filmed in the Pacific Northwest, and it is available worldwide on most major streaming platforms (iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, YouTube Movies) and will be on Dish cable vod this Christmas.

01:00 – 01:04 Particle FX is a shot I worked on during my time studying under Saber Jlassi. I was responsible for all aspects including the creation of the custom velocity curves.

01:05 – 01:09 Flooded Ruins is a shot I worked on during my time studying under Saber Jlassi. I was responsible for all aspects including the procedural modeling and destruction RBD to get the broken geometry look.

01:10 – 01:20 A Fairy’s Game Fire and Smoke Sequence is a sequence I worked on as the VFX Supervisor on set and was responsible for all FX aspects of the shot including the fire ball and smoke traveling FX. The FX were handled in After Effects using their native plugins as well as some 3rd party tools including Trapcode: Particular for the smoke.

01:21 – 01:24 Cloud Sailing is a shot I did on my own time separate from class or work and was handled inside Houdini. I was responsible for all fx aspects excluding the boat 3d modeling. The 3d model is from TurboSquid. The compositing was handled in After Effects.

01:25 – 01:36 A Fairy’s Game Battle Sequence is a sequence I worked on as the VFX Supervisor on set and was responsible for all FX aspects of the shot including the rock throw and battle magic FX. The FX were handled in After Effects using their native plugins as well as some 3rd party tools including Element 3d for the boulder. I did not do the 3d modeling or texturing for the boulder.
