Software Engineer – Pipeline

Animal Logic is looking for a Software Engineer to ensure the core studio pipeline is implemented, maintained and supported across multiple sites. While designing, developing and maintaining tools to support artists throughout the pipeline, and to develop technical plans to achieve these goals. The Software Engineer will engage with artist and production staff to elicit requirements for new tools and incorporate feedback throughout the development lifecycle. This is a fulltime, permanent role that reports to the Software Development Manager.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Work with production team to understand requirements and design quality software that meet these needs
Adheres to R&D best practices of software engineering, including solution design/review, source version control, code reviews, testing including TDD (Test-Driven-Development), and release management
Execute the full software development lifecycle in the Vancouver office
Work with development team to ensure that the core tool infrastructure is operational and performant
Support, monitor and troubleshoot complex production applications
Participate in agile meetings with emphasis on inspecting and adapting processes that improve the development lifecycle
Build technical and user documentation to support the systems and software tools

Requirements:

5+ years of experience working in software design and development within the Entertainment/Media industry
Experience working in a feature animation setting is desirable
Experience working with Maya, Houdini, XSI, Nuke, and/or other similar packages
Experience with USD would be considered an asset
Previous experience designing and developing robust and scalable systems
Experience working in a cross-site setting and coordinating with teams in international offices is preferable
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related fields
Proficient in Python, C++, SQL, MEL, and PHP
Solid understanding of Data Models and Relational Databases
Proficient in Windows and Linux operating systems
Extensive Knowledge in designing and developing software, software tools, and the full software development lifecycle
Ability to effectively work and communicate in English
Ability to work in a challenging environment, take direction and possess good communication skills
Willing to work in a production environment and collaborate with artistic staff
An appreciation of design aesthetics is an asset

Salary range CAD$95-$120k and extended medical benefits. In addition, we include a comprehensive benefits package with paid vacation time, extended medical and dental, AD&D, LTD and Life insurance.
