Lighting / Composition Artist

Position Overview:

The CG Lighting / Comp artist is responsible for creating and conceptualizing CG Lighting / Comp Sequences as required, which meet the aesthetic, creative, and technical quality stands of the production and in accordance with the production deadlines.

Deliverables and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate a broad range of Lighting / Comp abilities in a collaborative environment to conceptualize and create the overall look, attitude and style of the character and set Lighting / Composition.
Assist Supervisors in resolving technical issues and to develop tools, scripts, plug-ins and any other frameworks needed to streamline the Lighting / Comp process.
Exercise a keen eye for creative continuity as well as QC all rendered layers for technical errors. Work with supervisor to resolve any discrepancies as discovered.
Add 2D EFX as required working with 3D EFX artists to achieve EFX requirements.
Ensure all final composited scenes are output in accordance with the technical requirements of editorial and for the project, ensuring that all required layers are included in the final composition, using approved light rigs to match look of show.
Meets project deadlines and milestones, including weekly quotas, as set by Series Director / Episodic Director and the production department.
Demonstrates good written and verbal communication, and exhibits a collaborative, supportive approach to working with other team members.
Actively participates in team / department meetings. Consistently exercises sound judgment in all areas of performance.
Mentors and offers support to less experienced artists. Providing them with guidance and instruction in the area of department focus.

Required Skills & Experience:

Must have previous Film / TV production experience
Strong understanding of traditional Lighting / Comp techniques & principles
2D EFX experience
Good written and verbal communication skills
Positive work ethic an asset

FX Artist

Position Overview:

The FX artist is responsible for creating and conceptualizing CG FX Sequences as required, which meet the aesthetic, creative, and technical quality standards of the production and in accordance with the production deadlines.

Deliverables and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate a broad range of FX abilities in a collaborative environment to conceptualize and create the overall look, attitude and style of the FX.
Actively promote and communicate sound solutions to technical and creative issues related to FX. Create natural and supernatural effects (ie, water, smoke, dust, lightning, bubbles, fire, storms, shadows, blurs, explosions, etc) to contribute to the character, location, or atmosphere, providing suggestions and recommendations on technique and elements in the context of the scene.
Maintain and communicate a strong knowledge of innovative FX animation technologies.
Be confident in your creative vision but flexible and open-minded to alternate ideas. Assist in creating an “FX Production Style Guide” as-needed.
Meets project deadlines and milestones, as set by Series Director / Episodic Director and the production department.
Demonstrates good written and verbal communication, and exhibits a collaborative, supportive approach to working with other team members.

Required Skills & Experience:

Must have demonstrable production experience to create smoke, water, fire, and electrical effects in a TV series context.
Must maintain high aesthetic quality with quick turnarounds using a mix of FX rigs and one-off FX using Maya with some RealFlow.
Animation / VFX experience preferred.

FX Lead Artist

Position Overview:

The CG FX Lead artist is responsible for creating and conceptualizing CG FX Sequences as required, which meet the aesthetic, creative, and technical quality standards of the production. This position is also responsible for supervising and reviewing the efforts of assigned FX team, ensuring that deadlines are met and creative goals are achieved.

Deliverables and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate a broad range of superior FX abilities
Promote and communicate sound solutions to technical and creative issues related to FX.
Exercise strong leadership to ensure that FX assignments are understood and completed as per instructions.
Maintain and communicate a strong knowledge of innovative FX animation technologies.
Cultivate and maintain a creative and successful working relationship with directors.

Required Skills & Experience:

Must have supervisory / lead experience
Must have animation / VFX / film related experience

Must have demonstrable production experience to create smoke, water, fire, and electrical effects in a TV series context.
Must maintain high aesthetic quality with quick turnarounds using a mix of FX rigs and one-off FX using Maya with some RealFlow
Must be able to communicate well with others, both verbally and in writing.

Background Painter

Position Overview

The BG Painter establishes the color, style, and mood of a scene drawn by an animation layout artist by painting or rendering in color the backgrounds (or locations) based on the background designs or layouts.

Key Responsibilities:

Paint backgrounds and props using Photoshop to fit with the approved style of the series.
Maintain the style and execution of the backgrounds as per the requirements of the production.
Actively participate in team and department meetings.
Meet all project deadlines and milestones and follow the production schedule to create episodic builds on a weekly basis.
Meet project quotas, deadlines, milestones, as set by project leads, and the production department.
Notify your supervisor regarding any problem that may impact quotas and deadlines as soon as the problem is recognized.
Mentor less experienced artists and lead by example, providing them with support, guidance and instruction in areas that provide for their artistic and professional growth.
Actively participate in team / department meetings. Consistently exercises sound judgment in all areas of performance.
