Line Producer

Position Overview:

The Line Producer will provide management and leadership to the Production. This role will be responsible to act as a project and people manager in establishing the structure of the production, its team, budget, timelines and processes. The Line Producer will ensure that the quality of services provided meet the standards of Bardel and be within production deadlines. The Line Producer will also ensure a professional and successful relationship with the client or partner. This role has ultimate responsibility for the successful completion of the project.

Deliverables and Responsibilities:

People and Production Management

Work with Director of Finance, VP Production and other production and corporate staff to establish a working production budget for the division.
Track and maintain the production budget, including weekly cost report meetings, approval of timesheets, invoices, purchases and assets.
Create, maintain and revise as necessary production schedules for the Production, coordinating multiple projects, departments, teams and resources where necessary and working in accordance with overall studio schedules.
Establish regular team meetings, involving key supervisors to regularly review progress on production schedule and budget.
Oversee the day to day operation of the production, managing all staff, budget, workload, technology, product or pipeline concerns, for the complete process through to post-production.
Book voice records and auditions where necessary, liaising with or acting as the Post Production Supervisor.
Manage the script process, including clearances, script meetings, delivery, and related budget.
Oversee asset library and archiving to ensure that naming conventions are established and followed and that index is available to corporate contacts.
Recruit new employees as necessary to maintain optimal and efficient staffing on the production; negotiate and complete employment agreements using template and freelance agreements for contractors, in partnership with Human Resources department.
Act as primary liaison with the client on all production, schedule and budget issues.
Coordinate with Supervising Producer in allocation of studio resources.

Other Duties

Actively participate in all scheduled production and team meetings.
Compile cost report and weekly production report for Production and have available for Supervising Producer to review at weekly Production Meeting.
Establish, negotiate and liaise with production service studios and other external suppliers as required.
Foster and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders: clients, crew, partners, outsource studios, broadcasters, and corporate departments.

Required Skills & Experience:

Minimum of 5 years experience in a leadership role on an animated production required
Previous experience establishing, managing and tracking against a divisional budget required
Previous experience successfully managing the human resources, scheduling, and asset resources for a divisional team required
Previous experience providing management on a televised series an asset
Experience working with 2D and 3D animated techniques an asset
Post-secondary education in Commerce, Business Administration, Marketing or related field an asset

Proven ability to communicate the Director and client’s artistic vision on a project to the team and ensure that the vision is realized in the finished product, while managing time and budget constraints.
Exceptional project management skills; able to successfully manage people, expenses, and timelines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Business and market acumen; familiar with the concepts relevant to the animation industry
Exceptional communicator; able to communicate vision, priorities, and timelines; strong people management skills; able to professionally represent Bardel with internal and external contacts
Exceptional time-management and organizational skills

Required Skills & Experience

Experience in animated film or TV
Strong, diplomatic communication skills
Detail oriented and able to visualize the state of the show
Create and track bids, budgets, staffing schedules, burndown charts, and participate in recruiting and staff contract negotiations.
Previous experience providing management on a televised series
Experience working with 2D and 3D animated techniques an asset.
