BioWare Edmonton is seeking a seasoned Cinematic Animator while influencing the next generation of world class narrative driven games. Cinematic Animators bring a movie-like quality to the narrative of the games by creating emotionally impactful cut scenes.

What does BioWare look for?

Intrinsic ability for storytelling. Develop and animate cut scenes that support the narrative of the games
Animate human and creature forms, giving the character weight, personality, mood, and believability. Convey mood and emotion through facial animation
Interact and collaborate with the different departments (Design, Art, Programming, Writing, etc.)
A solid understanding of composition and camera language
Excellent problem solving skills. Candidate must be able to quickly identify issues and resolve them.
Fluency with other graphics tools such as Maya, ZBrush, MotionBuilder and Photoshop
Classical Animation background, Degree in Fine Arts or Computer Animation
A thorough understanding of the key aspects of game development including detailed knowledge of pre-production, production and post-production

BioWare Montreal is currently seeking an experienced Senior Character Artist. You’ll focus on character sculpting and modeling for a next gen Mass Effect title. You will be responsible for creating a large number of diverse characters. You will be working alongside a passionate team of designers, concept artists, animators, & engineers.

What does BioWare look for?

– Ability to create realistic models either humanoid or creature
-Strong organic modeling skills, drawing skills (light, form, shadow, color), knowledge of the human anatomy and form.
-Strong texturing skills including photographic manipulation, new texture creation and color correction.
– High quality, character models in low, medium, and high polygon counts
– Clean texturing skills and an eye for color
– Good use of light and shadow
– Excellent sense of scale and form
– Excellent level of finish drawing skills
– Excellent drawing and/or sculpting of the human form, exhibiting a knowledge of anatomy, proportion, weight, and volume
– Ability to work from reference materials, such as photography or concept art
– Strong Max, Maya or XSI
– Strong ZBrush or Mudbox

BioWare Montreal is now looking for a Senior Level Artist with solid technical knowledge and skills to generate new innovative looks, lighting, and moods.. Senior Level Artists must have a passion for building new and innovative worlds.

What skills does BioWare look for?

Shipped at least two AAA titles as a senior artist
A great understanding of architectural forms, scales and material definition
Drawing/sketching skills that display basic skills as well as any modeling and texture work related to objects, buildings, natural terrain, etc.
An excellent eye for detail and focus on delivering the very best quality
Excellent sense of form, weight (mass), and volume
A great understanding of the use of light and shadow, creating realistic settings
Excellent sense of creating realistic shaders and textures
An understanding of memory and optimization
Experience with 3D Software such as Maya and zbrush
Highly commitment to deadlines with ability to set realistic time estimates for owns work and other artists.
Setup workflows and pipelines for the other artists
Proactive and driven
Team player and good collaboration skills
