Illustrator (Temp)

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled temporary 2D artist to assist the creative development team. This artist will be focused on creating awe-inspiring artwork for all of Blizzard Entertainment’s intellectual properties. The ideal candidate has extensive experience creating digital illustrations in a variety of different visual styles. A solid grasp of foundational art skills, color theory, human and creature anatomy, design theory and Blizzard Entertainment’s IPs are essential. The creative development artist must have expert command of Photoshop or an equivalent painting program. The perfect candidate works well in an environment of peers who are passionate about creating awesome art, takes constructive criticism very well, and can hit deadlines.

Responsibilities

Create high profile illustrations for Blizzard Entertainment’s IPs for a variety of purposes including magazine covers, novel covers, and marketing and promotional materials.
Occasionally create concept and in-game art for Blizzard Entertainment’s development teams.
Work with the creative development producer to complete tasks by the assigned due dates.
Work with the creative development art lead to achieve the necessary final image quality.

Requirements

Experience creating digital art in a professional environment
Strong foundational skills including anatomy, color theory, composition, etc.
Understanding of the visual style of Blizzard Entertainment’s IPs and a passion to push them to the next level
Experience working with an art director on a unique and cohesive visual style, with the versatility to work in a variety of styles
Able to understand and incorporate requests for revisions
Self-motivated, good communication skills, and a great team player with a can-do attitude
Out-of-the-box thinking, and creative problem solving abilities
A passion for video games and art

Pluses

Art college graduate
Use of traditional art mediums
Sculpting experience
Modeling and texturing using 3DS Max, Maya, Z-brush, MudBox, or equivalent program

Senior Writer

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented and experienced individual to join the Anvil as a senior writer. Duties will focus on screenwriting, dialog writing for games, and story development. The ideal candidate will have proven success as an animation writer or screenwriter, outstanding people skills, experience in a writers’ room setting, and an absolute passion to tell great stories in various cinematic mediums.

Responsibilities

Take a lead role in the development of Blizzard’s intellectual properties, focused on animated content and game writing.
Create original story and series concepts for Blizzard’s intellectual properties.
Contribute to IP development for all of Blizzard’s franchises.
Work with internal development teams to evolve Blizzard’s intellectual properties and expand them to various media types.
Mentor the story team in television and animation writing.
Work closely with storyboard artists, directors, development executives, and creative directors to develop epic entertainment experiences.

Requirements

A minimum of 5 years’ of industry or related-industry experience as a screenwriter or story editor
Successfully produced writing work, preferably in genre content
Thorough knowledge of the story-development process
Excellent written and oral business-communications skills
Passion for Blizzard’s intellectual properties
Vast knowledge of successful intellectual properties in today’s popular culture
Able to inspire and manage others
Able to work and thrive in a team environment
Able to produce writing without constant supervision
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work well under deadlines

Pluses

Experience in playing massively multiplayer online role-playing games, especially World of Warcraft
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Experience managing a wide range of personnel issues including career development and conflict resolution
Able to interact as part of a team and to contribute to increasing efficiencies
Able to build consensus on overall goals and balance resource allocation based on project goals and individual ability

Senior Vice President, Cross Media

The senior vice president of cross-media development oversees creative strategy and execution relating to story, cinematics and audio for Blizzard. The SVP will function as an executive partner, providing support to our game development teams and extending Blizzard IP across a variety of media formats and platforms. The SVP will establish and develop creative strategy for Blizzard IP, driving our brand into new arenas to engage fans old and new.

Responsibilities

Establish and develop creative strategy for Blizzard IP through key creative partners, VP of cinematic art and VP franchise and story.
Manage creative relationships to effectively collaborate and execute on creative ideas for internal customers.
Support game development teams relating to story, cinematic, and audio content production.
Lead and mentor a diverse creative team of approximately 300 employees.
Establish the vision and implementation of the creative road map of service and product offerings to deliver the best results.
Represent our brand and unify creative tone across mediums.
Establish and achieve operational goals, including budgets, schedules, revenue targets and operating income of the product development operations groups.
Manage external creative partnerships in areas of responsibility.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
A minimum of 10 years’ in a senior leadership position in entertainment or media
Direct and proven executive-level project management and operation experience in entertainment or media to ensure strategic business plans are successfully executed
Demonstrated track record of successful execution of key strategic partnerships
Established ability to assimilate information into unique creative strategies through story, visuals, or audio
High impact experience in process management and production evaluation, preferably with creative or development resources
Exceptional problem solving ability and the ability to be creative and intuitive with thinking outside of-the-box
High level of professionalism, diplomacy, and integrity
