3D In-Game Artist

Blizzard’s In-Game Cinematics team is looking for a 3D Artist to help us tell the stories of the World of Warcraft. In our small-team environment, this position will be tackling a wide variety of artistic tasks. The primary focus will be on creating FX (both 2D and 3D), cleaning up game models, and painting textures, but may also include creating new models, motion graphics, compositing, and lighting. We need someone who is enthusiastic, knows and loves the art of WoW, and enjoys creating in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment.


A minimum of 3 years’ experience in game development modeling and texturing 3D assets using 3DS Max and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)
A minimum of 2 years’ experience creating spectacular game engine FX
Experience with creating 2D FX in After Effects or equivalent software
An understanding of anatomy, form, and silhouette in regard to character modeling
Superior eye for light, shade, color, and detail in painting stylized texture maps
Able to create art in the distinct World of Warcraft style
Self-motivated, good communications skills, and a great team-player attitude
Able to take direction from show and department leads while matching an existing style
An impressive demo reel showing off your amazing art skills


Have shipped at least one AAA PC or console title as a 3D artist or FX artist
Experience with Mudbox, ZBrush, or equivalent modeling program and the process of converting high-poly sculpted models into lower poly game assets
Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including figure drawing and painting
Experience creating motion graphics in After Effects of equivalent software
Has multiple level 80+ characters in the World of Warcraft
Lawn dart dueling


Demo Reel, web-Link or portfolio containing examples of professional CG art with clear descriptions of your contributions per submitted images, models, and shots. What is Network Operations (BONS)?
Blizzard’s online network systems is the global network operations (GNOC) team responsible for supporting ALL of Blizzard’s customer-facing IT systems and services. Such services include, World of Warcraft, StarCraft II, Diablo 3, Hearthstone, and Heroes of the Storm. In addition to managing these IT platforms, BONS also works closely with our development teams throughout a product’s lifecycle. The global network operations center exists to support Blizzard’s production infrastructure in the pursuit of providing our customers with a reliable, quality, entertainment experience. We accomplish this by ensuring high reliability and quality of service through prevention of, and mitigation of, system impairments and downtime.

Shift hours and days may vary as GNOC is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.


Lead and supervise a team of GNOC technicians.
Ensure audit, monitoring, and documentation of Blizzard’s worldwide IT infrastructure.
Proactive and after-the-fact reviews of processes and work.
Identify employee development needs and provide coaching, mentoring and support development of training programs.
Manage employee absences and time off requests.
Provide regular employee performance reviews.
Ensure proper staffing of the team.


A minimum of 2 years’ leadership experience with task oriented teams or a minimum of 4 years’ experience in an IT service desk or operations center environment
Strong management experience to include skills evaluations, goal setting, feedback, mentoring, coaching, hiring process, training, and motivational theories
Working knowledge of project management, process analysis, process improvement, and change management methodologies
Able to multitask while maintaining a high attention to detail in a fast-paced, fluid environment
Able to explain complex concepts and issues, in both written and verbal form, to a wide range of personnel, with diverse backgrounds and levels of technical ability
Fluent in English and excellent written and verbal communications skills
Available to work shifts that may include nights and weekends

Senior game Designer

This position will involve the creative design and technical implementation of encounter based content and play balance. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in game design, a strong aptitude for critical thinking and analysis, outstanding people skills, boundless creativity, a strong visual aesthetic, extensive knowledge of World of Warcraft, and a longstanding passion for playing games.


A minimum of 3 years’ game design experience, including senior or lead design experience on a shipped product
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Able to work creatively in a demanding team environment
Experience playing through many dungeon or raid encounters
Absolute passion for playing and making computer games


Non-design development experience (artist, programmer, etc.)

VFX Artist

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled VFX Artist to work on all things Diablo. Our ideal candidate has extensive experience working with 3D packages, in-game VFX systems to create a wide range of VFX (fire, smoke, explosions, etc.), as well as a general understanding of good game play communications. Essential skills include a solid grasp of the principles of motion, anticipation, dynamics, follow-through, and other facets of animation. The VFX Artist must also have skill in creating textures and geometry needed for stylized VFX backed by related tools expertise – Photoshop, After Effects, Maya, etc.
The ideal candidate works well in an environment of peers who are passionate about Diablo, making great games, killing demons, and getting loot!


Experience creating brilliant, eye catching real-time VFX using Photoshop, Maya, and in-game VFX systems
Strong grasp of visual design principles used to create stylized, compelling VFX
Able to paint VFX textures from scratch and match an established style
High degree of proficiency with 3D graphics, particle systems, physics, ribbons, shaders, etc.
Solid knowledge of rendering engines
Self-motivated, humble, excellent communications skills, and a legendary team-player attitude
A minimum of 4 years’ creating real-time special VFX for video games


Previously shipped AAA PC or console titles in an equivalent type role
Scripting experience in Lua, Python, etc.
