RESPONSIBILITIES

Create both high resolution 3D sculpts and final low polygon game assets.
Couple hand painted textures and next-gen materials for use in game engine.
Iterate on game assets with production artists via prototyping and group critiques.

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in game development as an artist specializing in character / organic modeling using Maya, Photoshop, Zbrush or Mudbox
Exceptional understanding of next generation asset creation pipelines and tools
An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling
Superior eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating texture maps
Self-motivation, good communication skills, and a great team-player attitude
Able to work creatively as part of a large or small group
Proven problem-solving / prototyping ability
Able to effectively collaborate with game designers and programmers
Understanding of the visual style of Blizzard games and a passion to push it to the next level
A passion for video games

PLUSES

Experience in creating visual designs that support gameplay oriented goals
Skill in one or more related disciplines – illustration, animation, visual effects, or technical art
Have shipped an AAA PC or console title as a character artist

The way the light catches every nick and battle scar on a well-worn assault rifle or the mysterious, intricate engraving on an ancient sword pommel, each subtle nuance helps to create a truly rich and inviting world.
As a weapon artist you will lovingly hand craft each little detail found in the weapons and equipment for Blizzard’s next epic game title.
Your passion as an artist and a gamer will propel you into the thick of development. Exceptional understanding of hard surface modeling, lighting, form, and color will allow you to work side-by-side with concept and character artists to outfit amazing creations with even more phenomenal war gear. As lead character artist for Blizzard’s next amazing game, you will lead the team that brings future legends to life.

Your unique skills as lead character artist allow you to be an unstoppable combination of visionary artist, gamer, and leader. As an artist, you’ll collaborate closely with the art director to define the vision for both the characters and organic modeling. As a gamer, you’ll be inducted into a cabal of designers, engineers, and artists whose singular goal is to create truly epic hero moments in gaming. Lastly, you’ll draw on your veteran experience to guide a team of the most talented artists in the industry in creating a legion of characters to inhabit this new and exciting world.

Work closely with art director / leads to drive and evangelize the artistic vision of the game.

Proven ability to mentor effectively

Storyboard Artist (Temp)

CINEMATICS

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented story artist to temporarily assist our cinematics team in creating the next generation of our award-winning cinematics! The story artist will not only function as a conventional storyboard artist but additionally will contribute collaboratively to both story and sequence development with the director.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Receive written and verbal descriptions of a sequence from the Director.
Draw storyboards that depict the action, camera placement, and acting of the characters in that sequence.
Hone, refine, delete, or create dialog where needed.
Present the storyboards to the director and other members of the story team.
Once approved, pass storyboards on to the team.
Create new drawings to fix and change sequences throughout the production process.
Create and pitch alternate story solutions to the director.

REQUIREMENTS

Able to create story ideas and options to story ideas
Composition and presentation skills
Able to present work in a clear and entertaining way
Entertaining acting ideas
Strong layout and design skills
Strong, communicative draftsmanship
Able to work quickly, when necessary
Able to work collaboratively, create and then change gears
Basic knowledge of film is required, including language, acting, and craft
Basic Photoshop experience recommended, but not required
A degree or equivalent in Computer Graphics, Animation, Film-making, or other related course

PLUSES

Knowledge and experience using editing software
Previous experience as a storyboard artist in the game or movie industries
