Senior User Interface Artist

Blizzard Entertainment is currently looking for an experienced, creative, and artistically talented senior user interface (UI) artist for Heroes of the Storm. The UI artist will work closely with the Lead UI artist, art director, and designers to conceptualize the visual style, and interactive experience for Starcraft II, and any related projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Create a unique and engaging visual identity that supports and reinforces gameplay.
Apply and maintain a consistent art style throughout the entire project interface.
Create animated prototypes demonstrating UI interaction models.
Collaborate with a team of engineers in the implementation of UI components.
Work collaboratively within a team of developers to create an intuitive UI experience.
Iterate using feedback to drive and polish features to a high quality state.
Make independent creative decisions and work with a team to execute.

REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the graphics arts, interaction design, or advertising field
Strong graphic design skills — particular iconography creation, artistic sense, and fluency in Adobe Photoshop
Able to illustrate UI components that are consistent with Blizzard Entertainment’s design philosophy
Strong ability to digitally render and paint all types of materials and surfaces.
Strong understanding of UI, and usability principals
Awareness of current trends in Web, and user interface design
Able to lead and work well with a team in a dynamic, cross-discipline, and iterative setting
Able to understand technical implementations, and limitations
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
A passion for video games, and user interface design

PLUSES

Game industry experience designing user interfaces for software titles
Prototyping skills with tools such as Adobe Flash / Microsoft Blend
Wire-framing experience
Traditional 2D sketching and composition skills
Extensive experience playing Blizzard Entertainment games

Art Manager

Proven ability to deal a with a wide range of personnel issues including recruitment, career development and conflict resolution
Demonstrated ability to interact as part of a team and to contribute to increasing productivity goals and efficiencies

Senior 3D Character Artist

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled senior 3D character artist to join the World of Warcraft team. The ideal candidate has experience modeling and texturing a diverse visual range of characters and creatures. A solid grasp of form, structure, color, and light for both 2D and 3D art assets is essential.
The senior artist will work closely with the character art lead to push the art style and quality to the next level. They will offer mentorship and guidance to junior members of the team. The ideal candidate works well in an environment with peers who are passionate about making great games.
The senior character artist must be skilled in additional forms of art production as well — illustration, animation, concept drawing — and be well-versed in related tools –3ds Max, Photoshop, etc.

REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 4 years’ experience in game development modeling and texturing characters using 3ds Max and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)
An exceptional understanding of human and creature anatomy and a keen eye towards form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regards to modeling
Superior eye for light, shade, color and detail in creating texture maps
Self-motivation, good communications skills, and a great team-player attitude
Advanced skill in two or more of the related creation tasks – illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, and concept drawing

PLUSES

Have shipped multiple AAA PC or console titles as a 3D character artist
Strong foundation in the traditional arts, including but not limited to figure drawing and illustration
A passion for developing online games

Concept Artist (Temp)

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a talented, motivated, and experienced concept artist to join its development team, The Anvil. The concept artist must be experienced in designing creatures, characters, environments, props and FX Studies for both science fiction and fantasy genres. Work methods should include quick-sketching, clean line art, photo collaging and full painting. Besides a strong understanding of anatomy and perspective the ideal candidate should also possess a solid grasp of the unique elements and distinctive visual styles of Blizzard Entertainment’s universes. Proficiency in any of the major 3D packages is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Create concepts for various projects as assigned. Concept work would range from, but are not limited to:
Characters, environment, props, lighting, and FX studies.
Black and white sketches to fully painted images as needed for the project.
May also be done using a variety of 3D packages to model and render assets.
Create in-game art for Blizzard Entertainment’s development teams on occasion.
Work with producers to complete tasks by the assigned due dates.
Work with art lead to achieve the necessary final image quality.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience with Photoshop and other 2D art / painting programs
Superior eye for light, value, composition, color, staging, and detail in environmental design
Experience working in the pre-production aspects of game development and movie / animated feature film-making
Exceptional understanding of human and creature anatomy
A solid skillset able to tackle creature design, FX design, environments, and props
Experience with the creation of orthographics for characters, sets, or props
Understanding of Blizzard Entertainment’s distinctive visual style, and a passion to push it to the next level

Outsource Producer

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for a talented outsource producer with experience managing external production companies to deliver exceptionally high quality videos for its Video and Post-Production (VPP) Team. VPP provides digital video content for development and support teams, and all Blizzard games. As part of the Forge division of Blizzard, VPP also functions as the post-production arm for our epic, award winning Cinematics team. VPP strives to create content at the highest quality to support the outstanding work produced by Blizzard developers.
Reporting directly to the Director of VPP, the outsource producer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and owning the outsourcing process and pipeline. They will evaluate potential outside production partners, write requests for proposal (RFPs), and review submitted proposals for accuracy and fit based on production capability, creativity, and budget.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills and be able to manage external production partners in the development of digital video content. This is a dynamic and growing part of our studio as we seek to engage and communicate with our players through new channels.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Write proposals (RFPs) to solicit bids from outsource partners.
Develop, maintain, and manage professional relationships with outsource partners.
Manage outsource projects in a timely and professional manner for VPP and its clients to ensure high production value, and keep projects on schedule and on budget.
Interface with VPP’s creative team to ensure project creative goals are being communicated and achieved.
Interface with VPP’s Sr. Producer to communicate on production schedules, client review cycles, and deliverables.
Work with Blizzard sound and localization teams to ensure milestones and delivery dates are met and that all content meets required specifications.
Communicate with VPP’s clients and stakeholders during all phases of production to keep them informed on project status and reviews.
Foster, develop, and maintain relationships with top agencies, directors, producers, and the production community at-large.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Media, Communications, or related field or equivalent work experience
A minimum of 3 years’ professional experience as producer or associate producer at a game company, advertising agency, or production company
Deep understanding of established and emerging best practices in digital video production and post-production
Exemplary organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
Excellent communications skills
