In Game After Effects Compositor

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled compositing artist to join its in-game cinematics team.
This position requires a creative and technically proficient approach to shot compositing based on personal vision and existing / established art direction from Blizzard games and cinematics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with the project director and leads to create a compelling look for a variety of sequence styles and styles.
Able to take art direction to the next level by improvising and innovating under design and time constraints.
Self-manage, self-task, and understand project deadlines.
Proactively identify problems and communicate them.
Document and communicate look guidelines and implementation techniques.
Able to keep up with the fast pace of the in-game cinematics production schedule

REQUIREMENTS

Advanced proficiency with Adobe After Effects
Demonstrate understanding of how to create environmental tone and mood within a compositing environment
Possess a thorough understanding of the needs of visual storytelling
Able to maintain sequence consistency
Must be self-motivated, social, and a great team-player
A minimum of 3 years’ professional experience as a compositor on AAA PC, or console titles, or other TV / movies / entertainment

PLUSES

Familiar with other compositing packages, such as Nuke
Experience lighting real-time and / or pre-rendered film or animation
Able to think like a cinematographer and incorporate camera-related visual treatments photography skills, including camerawork
Familiar with 3dsmax, Maya, Photoshop, and 3rd party lighting tools
Passionate gamer with experience playing a wide range of games; particularly World of Warcraft or Heroes of the Storm
A passing familiarity with Tony Horton style Yoga

Environment Artist

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled 3D environment artist to work on Heroes of the Storm. The ideal candidate has extensive experience designing, modeling, and texturing a diverse visual range of in-game, real-time environments, and props. From awesome critters, alien cities or ancient shrines, this person has a solid grasp of form, color, and lighting for both 2D and 3D art assets to help bring our amazing Blizzard universes to life. The 3D artist must also have a skill in another art task as well (illustration, modeling, texturing, animation, FX or concept drawing).

REQUIREMENTS

A passion for video games
Self-motivation, good communications skills, and a great team-player attitude
A minimum of 2 years’ experience in game development modeling, and texturing 3D assets using 3DS Max, and Photoshop (or equivalent 3D and 2D programs)
An exceptional understanding of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling
Superior eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating texture maps of different material types
Understanding of Blizzard’s visual style, and a passion to push it to the next level

PLUSES

Have shipped AAA PC, or console titles, as a 3D environment artist
Experience with Mudbox, ZBrush, (or equivalent modeling programs) and the process of converting high-poly sculpted environments into lower poly game assets
Experience with the creation of next-gen shaders, and materials
Strong foundation in the traditional arts including, but not limited to figure drawing, and environmental, and /or architectural illustration

Senior Environment Artist

Can you craft a fortress fit for a warrior king? A palace for the damned? Caverns of doom and mines of untold riches? From the depths of Molten Core to the terrors of Ice Crown Citadel, World of Warcraft (WoW) dungeons offer adventure and glory to the intrepid heroes of Azeroth.
As a senior artist on the dungeon team, your focus is to invent elaborate backdrops for all the big baddy bosses that inhabit the game. You are part modeler, lighter, set decorator, texture mapper, and level designer all rolled into one. As gate keeper for a dungeon, you are responsible for translating a 2D layout into a fully realized 3-D dungeon. You also must have the creative sense to fill in the gaps and interpret areas that may not have specific concept art. The ideal senior environment artist can float between 2D concepts and 3D assets, expanding the world and setting the stage for our player to explore.
The dungeons in World of Warcraft offer up a great variety of themes, and you get to be the point person for all things creative that go into it. If this describes your talents, then you have our attention!

RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate closely with level design to translate 2D layout into a fully realized 3D dungeon.
Freely interpret lose concept art and realize it as a 3D environment.
Light environment to establish mood and gameplay flow.
Apply textures and set dress interior environments.
Create 2D overpaints to flush out the level’s visual design, lighting, and mood.
Create textures in a hand painted style.

REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 10 years’ experience working as an environment artist
Proven ability to work in the 2D and 3D space
Excellent at setting and driving a vision
Excellent follow through and takes initiative to solve problems
An exceptional understanding of architecture as it applies to level design, light, and color
A thorough understanding of the level design process
Works closely with game design to ensure art enhances the player experience
Able to explore a wide variety of ideas that push the WoW style

PLUSES

A degree or formal art education such as illustration, traditional painting or industrial design
Understanding of the visual style of World of Warcraft and a passion to push it to the next level
A mind for art direction and leadership
