Lead Software Engineer

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an experienced engineer to lead the Heroes of the Storm graphics team. You will work closely with other engineers, artists, and designers to help improve our graphics technology. This is a full-time position at our office in Irvine, California.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Help develop the future vision and drive the evolution of the engine that powers Heroes of the Storm.
Partner with our technical director to contribute to the technical direction for the graphics team.
Collaborate with the art and design teams to achieve the overall vision of the game.
Ensure the graphics team adheres to established coding standards and embraces efficient and robust engineering practices.
Work with other leads and producers to establish graphics related tasks and schedules.
Partner with our engineering manager to evaluate and upgrade the technical skills of engineers on the graphics team.
Serve as an active partner in the game team’s leadership.

REQUIREMENTS

Previous leadership experience or leadership potential
Extensive experience with current graphics / rendering technology
Experience with code and data optimization
Experience with multi-threaded programming
Fluent in C / C++
Strong mathematics skills, including proficiency with trigonometry, and linear algebra
Deep understanding of tradeoffs in engine performance, scalability, and maintainability
Familiar with supporting tools, such as exporters, terrain editors, and pipeline tools
Comfortable working within, and analyzing / improving, an established code base
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
A passion for video games

Esports Project Manager

Blizzard Entertainment is seeking an experienced leader to help lead the global execution of Hearthstone esports products. The ideal candidate has a love of games (especially Hearthstone), a strong history of managing complex projects with diverse stakeholders, and a fierce passion for creating groundbreaking, epic-quality content. The candidate should also have experience working with global teams and an understanding of broadcast and event management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with the Hearthstone development team to design and iterate formats and systems that meet franchise’s goals and align with Blizzard’s strategic vision for esports.
Work with regional teams and global partners to ensure uniform execution, including high quality and consistent broadcasts, live events, player interaction, and messaging.
Work with production vendors to deliver content that meets Blizzard’s goals and standards.
Define and communicate the program’s creative vision, structure, and branding.
Accountable for all aspects of program execution, including vendor selection and management, live broadcasts, administration, player and talent management, promotion, legal framework, and communications (internal and external).
Develop, track, and adhere to the Hearthstone esports budget.
Communicate product status reports, assessing risk and new opportunities in each region.
Collaborate with esports leadership to establish product key performance indicators (KPIs) and measure program success.
Build and maintain strong relationships with teams across the company to execute plans, including the Hearthstone team, community, marketing, public relations, events, broadcast, IT, legal, Web, and others.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in product and / or program management
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in partner or vendor management
Deep understanding of event management, broadcast production and / or tournament operations
Strategic thinker with excellent leadership, management, and communications skills
Able to organize thoughts and make decisions under time constraints and a full work load
Experience managing a budget and working with international teams
Passionate player of video games, particularly Blizzard games
Boundless enthusiasm for Esports

Character Art Supervisor

The World of Warcraft team is looking for a highly experienced character art supervisor. The character art supervisor will report into the lead character artist and will run aspects of the character art team.

We are looking for someone passionate about the World of Warcraft art style and someone who sees ways of pushing and evolving it. RESPONSIBILITIES

Create character concept paintings, models, textures, and other benchmark assets.
Provide day-to-day direction for the character art team. This includes overpainting screen captures, manipulating 3D models, and painting textures.
Be the voice of the character art team when the lead character artist is not present.
Provide guidance during creative discussions with design and art leads.
Make decisions that keep the production moving forward.
Partner with production to ensure schedules and plans meet business needs.

Illustrator

Blizzard Entertainment is looking for an exceptionally skilled 2D artist to work in Blizzard’s story development and ideation department, creative development. This artist will be focused on creating awe-inspiring artwork for all of Blizzard Entertainment’s intellectual properties (IPs). The ideal candidate has extensive experience creating digital illustrations in a variety of different visual styles. A solid grasp of foundational art skills, color theory, human and creature anatomy, design theory, and Blizzard Entertainment’s IPs are essential. The artist must have expert command of Photoshop or an equivalent painting program. The perfect candidate works well in an environment of peers who are passionate about creating awesome art, takes constructive criticism very well, and can hit deadlines. Title and salary will be consummate with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Create high profile illustrations for Blizzard’s IPs for a variety of purposes including but not limited to key art, magazine covers, novel covers, marketing and promotional materials.
Occasionally create concept and in-game art for Blizzard’s development teams.
Work with the producers to complete tasks by the assigned due dates.
Work with the creative development art lead to achieve the necessary final image quality.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience creating digital art in a professional environment
Strong foundational skills including anatomy, color theory, composition, etc.
Understanding of the visual style of Blizzard’s IPs and a passion to push them to the next level
Experience working with art directors on unique and cohesive visuals, with the versatility to work in a variety of styles
