3ds Max Vray – Light Map baking for Unity3D with LINEAR workflow
It’s a tricky pipeline & I need a couple hours of consultation with someone who knows the process intimately. For the current project there is not time to contract out the project, I just need consultation; however, it’s a task we’ll be tackling many times over the next year and if I can find someone highly skilled with this pipeline, we will absolutely hire you to light scenes & bake lightmaps.
I have max & vray properly set up for linear workflow, the scene is well lit and the render settings are good. The current issue is with not understanding whether exposure control needs to be added since render to texture is not rendered from a vrayphysical camera, and I need to resolve which file format to render out which will work for lightmapping in Unity. The first trials with 32bit EXR files have not produced expected results. It’s possible the renders have been overexposed or Unity is being very finicky (as it’s reported to be) with the EXR file format.
Again, to be clear, if you have specific experience with this process and can provide solutions, I will compensate you for a couple hours of consultation now and discuss the possibility of you lighting/baking the next project as early as next week. I have several retail & home environment projects which need to be realistically lit and baked – mostly in vray, possibly some in beast.
Looking for an ongoing working relationship with someone HIGHLY experienced.
Thanks for your consideration & looking forward to hearing from you ASAP. I assume this site has a way for members to make contact – please use that. Thanks!
