Character Animator (Contract)

Description

Bluepoint Games is looking for a CHARACTER ANIMATOR to join our team on a contract basis. Help us create high-quality animations for AAA titles we currently have in development for current-gen home video game consoles.

Responsibilities

– Create animations with a good sense of feeling, weight and motion with our players and creatures
– Collaborate with fellow Artists, Team Leads, Design and Engineering departments to help produce the highest quality animations possible
– Maintain the high quality animation for the game
– Works well in a team-oriented environment
– Be able to give constructive feedback about tools
– Knowledge and the ability to skin characters
– Basic understanding of rigging

Requirements

– A demo reel reflecting high-quality game animations
– Great depth of knowledge in keyframe animation
– Understanding of game character pipeline
– Expert knowledge of Maya
– At least 3 years of professional experience in games industry (not including academic projects)
– Ability to work onsite at our facility in Austin, TX

Senior Environment Artist

Description

Bluepoint Games is looking for an SENIOR ENVIRONMENT ARTIST to join our team on a full time basis. Help us create unique assets for a AAA title and current-generation home video game consoles. We are preferably looking for an individual with senior-level experience, but open to mid-level experience with exceptional talent and a true passion for creating cutting edge environment art.
Please note: This is not an entry level position.

Responsibilities

– Create high-quality environment models
– Layout and compose large exterior and interior levels
– Sculpt highly detailed geometry
– Create high resolution texture maps for use in a PBR workflow
– Transfer high resolution model detail to game ready texture maps
– Apply and modify cutting edge material techniques
– Properly layout efficient and quality UVs
– Retopologize sculpted geometry to game ready models
– Maintain gameplay functionality throughout the model iteration process
– Help develop and learn the latest art creation technologies
– Collaborate with fellow Artists, Team Leads, and our Engineering and Design departments to produce high quality environments

Requirements

– Advanced knowledge of Maya modeling and UV tools
– Expert level ZBrush skills
– Strong knowledge of Photoshop for image manipulation/texturing
– Full understanding of game workflows and pipelines
– Desire to learn new techniques and technologies
– Excellent communication and organizational skills
– Drawing/painting skills to help convey ideas
– At least 5 years of professional experience in the games industry with at least one shipped title (excluding academic projects)
– A portfolio reflecting high-quality game art
– Ability to work onsite at our facility in Austin, TX

Preferences

– Experience with Allegorithmic Substance Designer and Painter
– World Machine knowledge

Senior Character Artist

Bluepoint Games is looking for a SENIOR CHARACTER ARTIST to join our team on a full time basis. Help us create unique assets for a AAA title and current-generation home video game consoles. Senior Technical Artist

Description

Bluepoint Games is looking for a SENIOR TECHNICAL ARTIST to join our team on a full time basis. Tackle the most complex asset challenges and join us in developing a world-class workflow to unleash the potential of our art team in developing AAA titles for current-gen home consoles.

Please note: This is not an entry level position.

Responsibilities

– Develop powerful and efficient workflows for the Art team
– Create new techniques and procedures to improve game asset quality
– Help improve and refine shader, texture, lighting quality
– Research and help develop new technologies
– Identify and fix pipeline issues
– Analyze and improve art asset inefficiencies to optimize console performance
– Mentor and support the Art team
– Act as a liaison between Engineering and the Art departments
– Assist with solving daily production challenges

Requirements

– Complete understanding of game workflows and pipelines
– Experience working with multiple game engines
– Expert knowledge of Maya
– Maya scripting experience in Python and MEL
– Basic knowledge of Photoshop scripting techniques
– At least 5 years of professional experience in the games industry with at least one shipped title (excluding academic projects)
– A portfolio reflecting high-quality game art, scripted tools, and shaders
– Ability to work onsite at our facility in Austin, TX

Preferences

– Experience with Allegorithmic Substance Designer
– Shader authoring skills (HLSL, GLSL, CGFX) knowledge
– C++, C#, Javascript, or other programming knowledge

Look Dev Technical Artist

Description

Bluepoint Games is looking for a LOOK DEV ARTIST to join our team on a full time basis and help drive our unwavering pursuit of industry leading visual quality. You’ll contribute to the AAA titles we currently have in development as well as help set a vision of what is possible for our future titles.

Responsibilities

– Conceive visual targets for our games. Dream, then make it happen on screen
– Drive Art Direction through creation of 3D concept prototypes using any means necessary
– Solve visual challenges that occur during production, then work with the Rendering and Art teams to translate the visual solutions into implementable techniques
– Create particle effects that make Hollywood jealous
– Mentor the Art team to achieve the visual goals in game via the development tools
– Research and implement cutting edge visuals, technologies, and techniques
– Develop procedures to improve game asset quality
– Help define shader, texture, and lighting quality
– Define and tune screen space effects for highest quality visual results in our shipped title

Requirements

– Complete understanding of game workflows and pipelines
– Experience working with multiple game engines
– Expert knowledge of Maya, ZBrush, and Photoshop
– Competent knowledge of Max, Houdini, or other 3D applications
– Shader writing knowledge
– At least 5 years of experience in the games industry
– Strong communication skills
– A portfolio reflecting high-quality game art
– Able to work onsite at our facility in Austin, TX

Preferences

— Experience with Allegorithmic Substance Designer
— Maya scripting experience in Python and MEL
