Brown Bag films are seeking a Maya Generalist
JOB TITLE: Maya Generalist
REPORTING TO: Production Manager
SUPERVISED BY: 3D supervisor
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:
The position of Maya Generalist requires someone with several years experience in a similar role working on broadcast or film projects. Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to work collaboratively with multiple tasks in a fast paced production. They will have a well-developed ‘eye’, a good working knowledge of design as well as a strong technical grounding in Maya.
Model, texture and surface 3D assets with emphasis on design and look development. Work with the 3D supervisor to create and develop assets which both meet the art director’s requirements and adhere to project’s pipeline. Provide regular progress updates to production manager and 3D supervisor on any tech-nical/workflow bottlenecks.
Must have an excellent working knowledge of Maya.
Must have at least 5 years’ experience working as a Maya Generalist (or similar position) in either broadcast or feature film work.
Solid understanding of technical modelling such as good topology, Edgeflow and creating ef-ficient meshes for a pipeline (subdivision, instancing etc)
Demonstrate strong look development skills including creating materials and surfaces.
Knowledge of mental ray considered a plus.
Knowledge of Z-brush or Mudbox not required but considered a plus.
Task Driven, self-motivated, and proactive
Must be open to direction. Experience with shotgun (or asset tracking systems) is considered a plus.
