Rigging Supervisor (Contract)

Description

JOB TITLE: Rigging Supervisor
REPORTING TO: CG Supervisor

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

The position of Rigging Supervisor requires someone with an extensive knowledge of 3D software and is an expert in industry standard software packages such as Maya and how they apply to Rigging. A thorough understanding of the rigging principles and pipeline is essential with experience in the development and maintenance of rigging pipelines.
Successful applicants will have a solid understanding of the production process, strong motivational qualities, be a proven team leader and have excellent communication and organisational skills. They will be highly organized and technically astute.

Key Areas of responsibilities:

Develop and Manage the BBF Rigging pipeline with a primary focus on maximising efficiency, scalability and reliability.
Provide leadership and support for the in-house and external Rigging Team
Support external production companies in their use of the BBF Rigging pipeline.
Identify and outline Rigging bottlenecks and deficiencies, technical or otherwise, to the CG Supervisor, Producers and Pipeline team. Propose and Implement solutions.
Clearly and concisely document and communicate the Rigging procedures, workflows and standards to the CG team and on the BBF Wiki.
Supervise the Lead Riggers. Ensure they partner effectively with Production Management and they deliver on their goals.
Partner with HR in the recruitment of the Rigging team.
Promote and Facilitate effective communication between the 3D Supervisors, Lead Riggers and Production Management.
Partner with CG Supervisor and Production management to facilitate the career growth of the key talent within the Rigging Department.
Partner with CG Supervisor and Pipeline team to determine appropriate use of applications and Tools as they apply to the Rigging pipeline for the various CG Productions, either in development or as they are phased into the productions.
Rig assets as required.
Attend Pipeline and Supervisor meetings.
Train rigging crew when required.

Person Specification/Requirements

6+ years’ experience in a supervisory capacity on a CG production or similar role.
Experience in development and maintenance of Rigging/compositing pipelines.
Strong Leadership skills
Comfortable with clear communication, dialogue and follow through with external studios.
Proficient in Rigging in Maya
Software development experience, preferably python.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Task Driven, self-motivated, and proactive to problem solving and technical troubleshooting.
Open to direction
Experience with an asset tracking/management system.
Experience of Animation ‘outsource & offshore’ production models is a big plus

CG Supervisor (Contract)

Brownbag Films are seeking a CG Supervisor for an exciting high profile property with an immediate start date.

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

The position of CG Supervisor is a senior position and requires someone with an extensive knowledge of the 3D animation workflow and pipeline and has experience in leading a CG team & Project. Successful applicants will have a solid understanding of the production process, strong motivational qualities, be a proven team leader and have excellent communication and organisational skills.

Key Areas of responsibilities:

Supervise the Asset pre-production and animation production from a CG perspective.
Work alongside the Art Director to achieve the required ‘Look’ for the project and ensure the pipeline can facilitate the look efficiently.
Identify and outline bottlenecks and deficiencies on the project, technical or otherwise, to the Head of CG and Producer. Propose and Implement solutions.
Work with the team Leads to ensure the project’s animation and lighting pipeline is functioning effectively.
Clearly and concisely communicate the project’s CG procedures and workflows to the other team members.
Provide leadership and support for the project’s CG crew, both creatively and technically, and ensure they partner effectively with Production Management and ensure they deliver on their goals.
Collaborate with the Pipeline Team and other 3D Supervisors to make requests and develop Studio’s global CG workflow and pipeline.
Promote and Facilitate effective communication relating to CG workflow, between Art directors, Production management and the CG crew.
Bidding of assets and shots when required.

Experience Required

Must have previously held a position as a CG Supervisor, a 3D supervisor or VFX supervisor on a film or broadcast project.
Proficient in Maya and how it applies to animation workflows and pipeline.
Experience with an asset tracking/management system.

CG Asset Lead (Contract)

Description

Reporting To: Production Manager
Supervised by: CG Supervisor

Summary of the Role

The position of the CG ASSET LEAD is a support function to the CG Supervisor for the
asset build phase of production. The role’s primary responsibility is to plan and implement
the asset build of characters, props and sets for a specific show with the CG Team.
They must ensure the CG assets are created to the project’s technical and creative
specifications, and they are published on schedule. The role requires someone with
extensive ‘hands-on’ generalist knowledge of CG Asset Workflow and Maya.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

 Partner with CG Supervisor and Production Management to organise, plan &
implement the asset build phase of production from a CG perspective.
 Complete personal weekly work queue of tasks encompassing practical tasks such
as Modelling, Texturing, Surfacing, basic Rigging, asset fixing, QC and Publishing,
and revision notes.
 Provide regular progress updates to Production Management and CG Supervisor on
any technical bottlenecks concerning the asset production.
 Troubleshoot issues with the project’s Assets Internally and externally.
 Provide technical support on assets for other team members when required.
 Liaise and validate technical approach on asset tasks with the Leads and CG
Supervisor
 Create and validate technical ‘Asset Launch notes’ and ‘Call-Outs’ for external assets
via Shotgun if required.
 Managing tickets for external assets.
 QC and Publish Hero and Key assets.
 Ensure assets are optimised for viewport, and render time performance.

Requirements

 Thorough understanding of the principles of the varying parts of the 3D Animation
process and CG Workflow (Modelling, Texturing, Shading, Lighting, Rigging, FX,
hair, cloth simulation)

 Able to tackle the more technical aspects of CG asset build.
 Ability to balance the needs between the Production schedule and the project’s expectations

 Extensive experience in Maya.
 Reel must demonstrate a good artistic “eye”
 Experience with shotgun (or asset tracking systems) is considered a plus but not

essential.

Description

The position of Hair&Fur TD requires someone with a thorough knowledge of fur and hair software workflows, with several years of experience working on broadcast or film projects.
They role will involve developing the Project’s Hair & fur Pipeline.

Primary responsibilities

Design and implement best possible design solutions for the Fur/Hair pipeline.
Provide leadership and support for the in-house and external groomer teams, both creatively and technically, to facilitate the completion of fur assignments on schedule.
Work together with the Projects leads, and Pipeline to ensure the Fur workflow is reliable, and stable
Provide Regular updates to production manager and 3d supervisor on any technical/workflow bottlenecks within the fur schedule
Define, document and communicate standards and techniques for fur/hair development that maximizes efficiency and ensures a consistent quality under the technical specifications of the project.
Collaborate with the 3D & Lighting Supervisor to make requests for studio pipeline tool enhancements.

Professional Requirements:

Proficient in Maya
4 + years professional experience working Shave & Haircut or Yeti,
Experience as groomer
Excellent troubleshooting skills on Maya and Shave/Yeti
Experience with Mel or Python is considered a big plus
Technical supervision of a team of artist is considered a plus
The applicant is not expected to Look Dev the hair but experience in this area would be considered a plus.

Personal Requirements

Must be able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks in a fast paced production environment.
Demonstrate artistic eye for styling and grooming
Must be open to direction.
