Lighting TD

Description

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

The position of Lighting TD requires someone with a thorough knowledge of 3D software, with several years of experience in a similar supervisory role working on broadcast or film projects.
Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple tasks in a fast paced production.
They will have a well-developed ‘eye’, a good working knowledge of art, design and film as well as a solid technical grounding in Maya and Mental Ray is a must. They will be expected to contribute to the project’s lighting pipeline.

Key Areas of responsibilities:

· Work closely with art director to provide creative lighting and shading solutions for a diverse range of projects
· Solve technical issues in combination with pipeline team and 3D supervisor, scripting solutions where required
· Fur & hair experience is a must
· Work with the Lighting Supervisor to ensure the project’s lighting pipeline is reliable and economical and is adhered to throughout production
· Provide regular progress updates to production manager and 3D supervisor on any technical/workflow bottlenecks within the lighting and shading schedule
· Provide leadership and support for the in-house and external lighting teams, both creatively and technically, to facilitate the completion of lighting assignments on schedule
· Define, document and communicate standards and techniques for lighting that maximizes efficiency and ensures a consistent quality under the technical specifications of the project

Person Specification/Requirements

· Must have at least 5 years’ experience working as a Lighting TD (or similar position) in either broadcast or feature film work.
· Must have an excellent working knowledge of lighting in Maya.
· Must have an excellent working knowledge of Mental Ray (Renderman and Arnold are a plus)
· Must be proficient in Nuke
· Knowledge of Python (and/or Mel) is required
· Must be familiar with hair systems such as Shave and XGen
· Must be proficient in shading and surfacing materials using Mental ray shaders
· Must have a good “eye” and a thorough understanding of light, color, contrast, shading, and lighting design
· Must be open to direction
· Must demonstrate attention to detail in the finishing of assets and shots
· Experience with shotgun (or asset tracking systems) is considered a big plus
· Experience in lighting pipeline development a big plus
· Task Driven, self-motivated, and proactive

FX Artist

Description

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

The position of the FX Artist requires someone with a thorough knowledge of 3D software and its application of 3D effects such as Particles, fluids, Dynamic collisions and Fracturing.
Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple tasks in a fast paced production.
They will have a well-developed ‘eye’, a good working knowledge of effects design for stylised animation as well as a solid technical grounding in Maya.

Key Areas of responsibilities:

· Establish key FX set-ups for episodes working closely with the art Director/3D Supervisor to set the required look.
· Create re-usable FX Assets ensuring they adhere to FX pipeline and meet art director’s visual requirements.
· Create Asset Launch notes for external FX assets via Shotgun.
· Complete retake notes on Shot’s FX submissions via Shotgun.
· Work with the FX Supervisor to ensure the project’s FX pipeline is reliable and economical and is adhered to throughout production.

Person Specification/Requirements

· Must have at least 3 years’ experience working as a VFX artist (or similar position) in either broadcast or feature film work.
· Must be comfortable with outsource management with an emphasis on clear communication and follow through.
· Must have an excellent working knowledge of FX in Maya and/or Houdini.
· Must have a good understanding of Maya Dynamics and particle systems.
· Knowledge of other programs such as Realflow, Nuke X particles, Fume, After FX, Niad will be considered
· Must have a good “eye” and a thorough understanding of light, color, contrast, shading, and FX design.
· Task Driven, self-motivated, and proactive
· Must be open to direction.
· Must demonstrate attention to detail in the finishing of FX in shots.
· Knowledge of Python (and/or Mel) is considered a big plus.

Lead Texture Artist

Description

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

The position of Lead Texture Artist requires someone with a thorough knowledge of 3D software, with several years of experience in a similar supervisory role working on broadcast or film projects.
Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple tasks in a fast paced production. They will have a well-developed ‘eye’ and excellent working knowledge of colour, art and design.

Key Areas of responsibilities:

· Create texture maps for locations and characters working closely with Art Director to set the required look.
· Ability to Work on a broad variety of show styles Creating Photo Real and stylised texture maps as required.
· Work with the 3D Supervisor to ensure the project’s texturing pipeline is reliable and economical and is adhered to throughout production.
· Create Efficient/optimal UV layout for texture painting.
· Approve or complete retake notes on CG Asset’s Texturing submissions via Shotgun when required.
· Create colour/texture keys for Asset development.
· Provide regular progress updates to production manager and 3D supervisor on any technical/workflow bottlenecks within the texturing schedule.
· Working with the Art Director – Supervise the quality control (both technically and visually) of the external asset assignments and ensure the outsource partner has clear direction from a Look/Texturing perspective.
· Define, document and communicate standards and techniques for Texturing that maximizes efficiency and ensures a consistent quality under the technical specifications of the project.
· Provide leadership and support for the in-house and external Texturing teams, both creatively and technically, to facilitate the completion of Texturing assignments on schedule.
· Collaborate with the 3D Supervisor to make requests for studio pipeline tool enhancements as they relate to Look development.
· Train Junior Texture Artists on the project

Person Specification/Requirements

· Must have at least 4 years’ experience working as a Look development Artist (or similar position) in either broadcast or feature film work.
· Must be comfortable with outsource management with an emphasis on clear communication and follow through.
· Must have an excellent working knowledge of Texturing in Maya.
· Must have a working knowledge of an industry 3D paint program.
· Solid understanding of shading and surfacing of materials using Mental ray shaders (preferably BBF’s shading suite) is required.
· Must have a good “eye” and a thorough understanding of light, color, contrast, shading, and Texturing design.
· Task Driven, self-motivated, and proactive
· Must be open to direction.
· Must demonstrate attention to detail in texture work.
· Experience with shotgun (or asset tracking systems) is considered a big plus.
· Experience in Texturing/Look pipeline development a big plus.

Animation Director

Description

Summary of the role:

Brown Bag Films are currently looking for an experienced Animation Director for a contract position.
We are looking for someone who is able to work both in a team and on their own in a fast paced and creative environment.

Key Areas of responsibilities:

· Responsible for establishing key character animation, and animation bible for the entire series with the Lead Animator and Director
· To ensure the high standard of animation is maintained throughout the production
· Write scene by scene animation notes for each episode shipment
· Review animation passes from the internal and external teams and write notes and responses to push animation to the desired standard
· Approve facial and character rig with Rigging Lead
· Approve Blend Shapes and Morphs for facial expressions
· Work closely with the Director to understand overall storytelling and humour of the show
· Work closely with the animation teams to improve each delivery and in turn reduce retakes as production proceeds.

Person Specification/Requirements

Minimum of 3 years experience in directing animation for long form Animation productions
· Understanding of 3D animation is required

Clear communication skills
Must be very detailed oriented and organised
Must passionate about character animation and acting

Matte Painter

Description

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

The position of Matte Painter requires someone with knowledge of 3D software, with 3 years + experience in a similar role working on broadcast or film projects. Successful applicants will have excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with multiple tasks in a fast paced production. They will have a well-developed ‘eye’ and excellent working knowledge of colour, art and design.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Work with the Art Director and TDs to deliver Matte Paintings for the Project
Troubleshoot areas where Matte Paintings can be used more effectively.
Create set extensions for existing 3D Locations

Person Specification

· Must have very strong painting skills with wide variety of experience in different styles
· Excellent working knowledge of Photoshop
· Good understanding of compositing Pipeline where Matte paintings and set extensions are employed (required)
· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role
· Excellent communication skills
· Excellent attention to detail
· Ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced production environment
