CG Supervisor

The main focus of a CG Supervisor role is to oversee the CG work and provide technical and artistic leadership for the CG teams working on a specific feature film project.

Skills

Excellent organisational, communication and project management skills.
Thorough understanding of the visual effects process and the ability to interpret the artistic brief from the VFX supervisor.
Good technical understanding of CG pipelines and the ability to specify efficient workflows and identify additional tools required.
Excellent Maya skills including a good understanding of modelling, texturing, look development, lighting, particles, fluids and dynamics.
Previous experience with team management and task assignment.
Previous film industry experience with the ability to ensure artists work is of a high standard both artistically and technically.
Good working knowledge of Renderman is preferred. Basic Mel and Python programming skills are a plus.
Previous experience training, mentoring and recruiting CG Artists would be beneficial.

Skills

Extensive working experience with node-based compositing systems. Nuke experience is essential.
A good understanding of photographic principles and CG Compositing techniques is essential.
You must be able to demonstrate experience of working on high end projects within a film post-production environment.
You will need to have excellent communication skills, the ability to work well in a team and have a sound knowledge of post-production for films.
Working experience on stereoscopic projects, either stereoscopic compositing or conversion of monoscopic footage to stereo, is advantageous but not essential.
You must be able to work well within a team environment and take direction from Cinesite’s Producers and Supervisors as appropriate.

The main focus of the position will be to create crowd simulations, working closely with layout and animation artists to compose realistic flocking of humans and animal crowds

Skills

• Strong crowd and layout skills including asset integration, scene setup and running simulations
• Experience working with motion capture and/or clip-based animation and a good eye for how humans and animals flock and move
• Strong working knowledge of Maya is essential and a familiarity of python is preferred
• Experience with Massive including the Maya-to-Massive workflow is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work independently as well as a strong communicator and a good team player
• Previous film industry experience is preferred

Location: Cinesite is looking to hire an experienced Digital Matte Painter/Environment artist for our Montreal office.
Montreal

The main focus of the position will be to create photo-realistic digital matte paintings and environments for feature films.

Skills

Photoshop CS and a good working knowledge of professional 3D software; e.g. Maya, Modo.
Good working knowledge of 2.5D projection is preffered; e.g. Nuke
You must be able demonstrate working on previous high-end projects within a film post-production environment. Your portfolio must comprise of 90% matte paintings
You will need to have excellent communication skills.
You must be able to work well within a team environment and take direction from Cinesite’s Producers and Supervisors as appropriate.

The main focus of the position will be to work with both proprietary and commercial tools to create a range of effects using fluids, cloth, particles and rigid body dynamics.

Skills

Experience/Skills: • Excellent knowledge of Maya and/or Houdini and the use of fluids, cloth, particles and/or rbd’s

• Experience in creating photorealistic effects such as fire, smoke, destruction, clothing, water and dust
• Thorough understanding of simulation techniques and technologies relating to Effects
• Good working knowledge of Renderman and experience with lighting and rendering effects is an advantage
• Strong problem solving skills and an ability to trouble shoot pipeline issues as well as being able to resolve shot-specific technical challenges independently
• Solid understanding of the requirements of other areas of visual effects, from modelling and lighting, to rigging and animation
• Programming skills with Mel and Python is ideal
• Previous film industry experience is preferred

The main focus of the position will be to build the foundation of a shot, pulling together the various objects and cameras to compose the CG scene.

Skills

• Strong Maya knowledge with good problem solving skills and a solid understanding of the visual effects pipeline
• Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues in order to maintain continuity within the sequence
• Previous experience of scene layout to match previs or storyboard reference is preferred
• Technical problem solving is key to the role so basic mel and python scripting is ideal but not required
• Previous experience in camera tracking and animation blocking is advantageous
• Ability to work independently as well as a strong communicator and a good team player
• Previous film industry experience is preferred

The main focus of the position will be shot lighting and rendering within Cinesite’s pipeline using commercial and proprietary software and tools to light photorealistic CG in live action environments.

Skills

Excellent Maya skills and solid understanding of rendering with Renderman Studio and/or Vray
Previous experience lighting photorealistic CG in live action environments is essential.
Thorough understanding of the visual effects pipeline from modelling through animation, texturing, rendering and compositing.
You must be able to work well within a team environment and take direction from Supervisors as appropriate.
Mel scripting and a familiarity with compositing in Shake or Nuke is advantageous.
A familiarity with Linux and basic shader writing skills are a plus.
Previous film industry experience is preferred.

Skills

Experience supervising both on-set and in-house overseeing CG and 2D teams.
Excellent organisational, communication and project management skills.
Thorough understanding of the visual effects process and the ability to interpret the artistic brief from the Director / Production VFX Supervisor.
You must have experience of managing all aspects of post-production including bidding and script breakdowns, scheduling, pipelines etc.
Good technical understanding of CG pipelines and the ability to specify efficient workflows and identify additional tools required.
Previous experience with team management and task assignment for large team sizes including dealing with work related issues.
Previous film industry experience with the ability to ensure artists work is of a high standard both artistically and technically.
Previous experience training, mentoring and recruiting CG Artists would be beneficial.
