Concept Artist

Description

CIG is looking for a talented and experienced concept artist able to tackle the unique and rich universe of Star Citizen!
We’re looking for someone to join our team with skills ranging from amazing character and costume concepts to spaceship and mechanical designs to work out of our Los Angeles office.

Responsibilities:

• This position will require artists to learn and master the visual style and elements of Cloud Imperium Games’s ‘Star Citizen’ project, and be able to conceptualize and illustrate new assets following the guidelines and requirements of the game.

Requirements:

• Have a good understanding of form and function with an eye for character design
• Collaborate heavily with the design and production teams while maintaining the Art Directors vision
• Create stunning art that captures the overall filmic quality of the games universe
• Have a strong foundation in anatomy, form, gesture, rhythm, color and balance
• International travel may be required as part of the role

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of all aspects of concept art regarding illustration and design
• Knowledge of Photoshop or other painting and sketching software
• Passion for games and all things scifi
• Self-motivation and willingness to participate in many areas of game development
• Portfolio that demonstrates industry standard skill
• Minimum of 2 shipped next gen, high quality titles/movies

• Experiences in games
• Ability to create concept art in 3D and 2D
• Mechanical illustration or design ability

Character Artist

Description

Cloud Imperium Games is looking for a Character Artist with a passion for their craft to help fill a persistent universe with characters and alien life forms.
The ideal candidate should have excellent core modelling and texturing skills and a sound understanding of human anatomy. You will be part of the process to grow the internal team, work with technical and other character artists to implement a developing character pipeline.

Responsibilities:

• Creating highpoly and lowpoly models of characters following concept art or art direction for in-game and cinematic usage with nominal direction from Senior and/or Lead Artists.
• Creating efficient UV layouts that work well within the engine/platform constrains.
• Photorealistic texturing of characters which includes diffuse, normal map, specular, bump.
• Working closely with Tech Art and other dependent departments throughout the character production process.
• and such other duties and responsibilities assigned by Cloud Imperium Games reasonably consistent with employee’s skills and experience.

Requirements:

• At Least 8 years’ experience in game development
• Strong experience in leading a team of artists
• Thorough knowledge of 3DS Max and Photoshop and next gen texturing techniques
• An eye for detail while maintaining efficient model making
• Experience with PBR based shaders
• Excellent sense of form
• Passion for pushing the state of the art in asset fidelity and production techniques
• High degree of self-motivation and initiative
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• International travel may be required as part of the role

Marketing Gameplay Capture Artist

Description

Cloud Imperium Games is seeking a Marketing Gameplay Capture Artist to come join us in our Los Angeles studio!

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate with a variety of technical teams, as well as editors, gameplay capture artists, and others to drive gameplay video projects through post-production to achieve unparalleled industry results
• Take ownership of the defined creative vision and shape content from pre-production to delivery
• Evaluate our content, presenting new ways to improve our technical and editorial chops
• Collaborate with other teams to improve existing videos new content
• Creating high quality 3rd person and 1st person animations using motion capture data and/or key framing.
• Creating high quality 1st person weapon animations.
• Follow group standards and best practices.
• Participate in a multi-discipline development team.
• Collaborate effectively with other disciplines including art, design, engineering, and audio.
• Manage day-to-day development issues; identify problems and drive creative solutions to fix them.
• Prepare for and attend motion capture shoots as needed.
• Learning the technical skills to assemble highly complex animations to run seamlessly in game.

Requirements:

• Experience with Motion Capture.
• Experience with Motion Builder is a plus.
• A positive attitude and ability to work on a multi-discipline team.
• Ability to take direction well.
• A passion for developing high quality games.

Foundry 42 Ltd is looking for a skilled and talented Gameplay Programmer to work on our exciting PC space combat sim. The Gameplay Programmer will work in a cooperative, cross-disciplinary team environment to implement game features and systems within the CryEngine.

Responsibilities

* Design and implement well-engineered, reliable, maintainable, and bug-free code.
* Collaborate with team members to develop various gameplay systems.
* Develop and test code, fix bugs, and profile and optimize code as directed.
* Follow best practices, development processes, and coding standards.
* Document and peer review technical designs with other software engineers.
* Work with QA, providing information needed to fully test developed code.
* Provide support to internal customers for developed software.
* Keep up to date on state-of-the-art software engineering methods, practices, and technologies.
* Communicate with other team members, internal customers, and when required external customers to determine requirements.

Successful applicants will join the team of Network Programmers at our Wilmslow, UK studio. Working in a co-operative, cross-disciplinary team environment you will implement the client/server network functionality of Cloud Imperium’s games. Your work will be varied and you will face many exciting challenges at the cutting-edge of online game development. Duties include; working on our core network library, helping programmers from other teams to network systems and game features, integrating the client and server with our backend services, as well as working with DevOps and QA to diagnose issues affecting our Live servers.
