Character Artist

Description

Cloud Imperium Games is looking for a Character Artist with a passion for their craft to help fill a persistent universe with characters and alien life forms.

The ideal candidate should have excellent core modelling and texturing skills and a sound understanding of human anatomy. You will be part of the process to grow the internal team, work with technical and other character artists to implement a developing character pipeline.

Responsibilities:

• Creating highpoly and lowpoly models of characters following concept art or art direction for in-game and cinematic usage with nominal direction from Senior and/or Lead Artists.
• Creating efficient UV layouts that work well within the engine/platform constrains.
• Photorealistic texturing of characters which includes diffuse, normal map, specular, bump.
• Working closely with Tech Art and other dependent departments throughout the character production process.
• and such other duties and responsibilities assigned by Cloud Imperium Games reasonably consistent with employee’s skills and experience.

Requirements:

• At Least 8 years’ experience in game development
• Strong experience in leading a team of artists
• Thorough knowledge of 3DS Max and Photoshop and next gen texturing techniques

• Experience with PBR based shaders

E-Commerce Specialist

Description

Looking for an E-Commerce Specialist to come join us in our Austin studio!

The E-Commerce Support Team at Cloud Imperium Games is a public-facing team responsible for assisting with order, billing, and refund-related issues for players of Star Citizen. Work largely involves assisting with account-, order- and pledge-related issues by diagnosing and troubleshooting a wide variety of consumer issues and requests. Work will also include processing refund requests as well as being trained to identify and review fraudulent behavior.

Responsibilities:

• Deliver a fun level of service and support to our dedicated Star Citizen backers and players, using email, forums, in-game communications and online websites;
• Helps process customer inquiries related to troubleshooting and processing orders and refunds as well as specific pledge-related requests;

Game Support Agent

Description

The Game Support Team at Cloud Imperium Games is a public-facing team responsible for relaying the status of the Live service to players (including downtime schedules, known issues, and publish information), troubleshooting individual and service-wide problems, helping people understand and enjoy the game, developing ways of driving interest and engagement through one-to-many events and communications (such as playtests, chats, and Reddit posts), and turning reports and feedback into solutions and improvements for Star Citizen.

The Game Support Agent will also provide various levels of technical and game problem resolution to the backers and players of Star Citizen by diagnosing and troubleshooting a wide variety of subjects including (but not limited to): Initial installation, patching, and loading the game; account access; assessing game client performance by reviewing players’ hardware and software setups; verifying and entering bugs into tracking software; helping players navigate and learn the website, the launcher, and the game; administering the game environment to keep it safe and secure; and communicating publicly with players on live service issues through email, forums, and various online sites popular with our community.

An additional primary task for this group is to help players maintain the integrity and security of their account by assisting with hacked accounts and tracking down surreptitious activity on the service using a variety of forensics tools and logs.
Example solutions include: installing/uninstalling/reinstalling software applications; verifying proper hardware and software set up; power cycling equipment; assisting with navigating around application menus; testing software bugs; reviewing potentially fraudulent monetary transactions; reviewing game logs to identify service problems. Support is provided in email and on forums and websites, where clearly communicated solutions are provided in a fun, light-hearted, user-friendly manner. Staff will perform related work as required.

Additional tasks will included assisting with fraudulent transactions and chargebacks, as well as all investigating the in-game effects of those actions.

Technical Designer

Description

Cloud Imperium Games is seeking a skilled Technical Designer to help in creating gameplay systems, exciting gameplay experiences, and interesting reasons to keep the players returning to our numerous landing zones for our ambitious space simulation, Star Citizen!

Position

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop new features for Star Citizen as they relate to the overall landing zone experience.
• Be a “go to” person for the implementation of our landing zone content. This includes but wouldn’t be limited to:
o Design, whitebox and maintain several of the shops that players visit in the game to help create a fun, intuitive and interesting shopping experience.
o Determine what the overarching experience would be at many of our landing zone locations.
o Design and create content that fits within the bounds of our systemic game.
o Documentation of the above in such a way that other people/disciplines can understand and implement content that you’ve designed.
• Be a role model within the department for cleanly implementing content with our design tools and scripting languages.
• Create logical, archetype based AI with our proprietary toolset that can be shared between our locations.
• Pitch concepts, designs and full-proposals to project leads.
• Partner with cross-disciplinary teams to execute game systems/designs.
• Have a good understanding of Visio, Word, Excel and Confluence in order to complete your design work.
• Identify and resolve conflicts with other disciplines in a way that best meets the design goals of the project.
• Review work at various stages to ensure the execution matches the goals and quality requirements.
• Routinely collect feedback from user-testing, the development team and design management. Identify solutions to the problems expressed that won’t negatively impact other systems or mechanics.

Requirements

• Preferably 3-5 years of game industry experience.

Senior Animator

Description

Foundry 42 LTD in UK is looking for a Senior Animator to work with the design team under direction of the Game Director and Animation Director on animation related areas within squadron 42 and the FPS module for Star Citizen.

UI Artist

Responsibilities

· Work within the UI team and assist in defining the look / feel of key user-interfaces and styles, engaging in all aspects of the design process.
· Construct menu systems, buttons, and other necessary UI assets as well as integrate those assets, iterating directly within the game engine to achieve desired results.
· Work with engineers and other team members in understanding functionality necessary for implementing various interface / interaction solutions.
· Present UI mock-ups and design solutions to the rest of the UI team.

Requirements

· At least three or more years of experience in designing user-interfaces for games and/or other related software mediums.
