Graphic Designer

Description

The successful applicant will apply their Graphic Design skills to the universe of Star Citizen. You will be responsible for coming up with company brands / identities, logos, advertisements, shop front displays and numerous other tasks that help enrich and shape the player’s experience of a living, breathing, believable universe.

Job Description

* Work within a UI team to create all types of 2D graphical artwork for the world of Star Citizen – posters, advertisements, screens, logos, decals, etc.
* Create corporate ID packages for the various brands and corporations within the Star Citizen universe
* Work with the UI and Art Directors to create and develop designs to be used by the development team

Requirements

* Possession of creative flair, versatility, conceptual / visual ability, and originality
* A strong understanding of brand, colour, and typography
* Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
* Ability to interact, communicate, and present ideas clearly
* Proficient with industry leading software and technologies (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop etc.)

Tools Programmer

Description

Foundry 42 LTD is looking for a Tools Programmer to work on our exciting PC space combat sim, Star Citizen!
The Tools Programmer will work in a co-operative, cross-disciplinary team environment to develop and maintain tools used by designers, artists and other developers throughout Cloud Imperium’s whole production pipeline.

Responsibilities

* Design, create, document, maintain, and improve content development tools for all disciplines
* Work closely with artists, engineers and developers on various tools to improve the overall pipeline.

UI Programmer

Description

Cloud Imperium Games is seeking an experienced User Interface Engineer to join our UK based team, Foundry 42 Ltd, to work on our record-breaking crowd-funded game, Star Citizen! This position is responsible for developing engaging user experiences within an evolving codebase. The ideal candidate will be able to realize the vision of the art and design while working within the limits of the engine and engineering resources.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with designers, artists, and other engineers to contribute to a shared vision for compelling UI features.
• Implement functional and elegant UI features from approved concepts.
• Develop new functionality in the underlying UI framework to support new gameplay features.
• Work with production staff and other leads to identify engineering tasks and subsequent schedule requirements.
• Adhere to established coding standards and maintain efficient coding practices.
• Serve as an active partner with other team members working on UI features.
• Acquire new knowledge necessary to perform assigned tasks and maintain the technological evolution of the interface.

Requirements:

• Previous user interface design and implementation experience.

Successful applicants will join the team of Network Programmers at our Wilmslow, UK studio. Working in a co-operative, cross-disciplinary team environment you will implement the client/server network functionality of Cloud Imperium’s games. Collaborating closely with sound designers, and dialogue & music implementation specialists on designing and engineering high level audio systems to maximise the end-user’s sonic experience
Developing, enhancing and optimising the audio engine wherever possible
Maintaining and improving tools, assistive tech and audio workflow within the game and editor
Contributing to maintenance of audio asset build systems, including the dialogue/localisation pipeline
Designing and producing unit testing/automated testing systems with an emphasis on audio
Taking ownership of aforementioned systems and iterating upon them; documenting where appropriate
Sharing knowledge and expertise to improve the CIG Audio engineering team as a whole
Continually learning and improving upon your audio engineering/programming skills and how to apply them
Providing training, support (and potentially mentoring) developers

Senior Lighting Artist

Description

The Senior Lighting Artist will work in a cooperative, international, cross-disciplinary team environment, possessing solid artistic skills, including a thorough understanding of color theory, composition, light, and form. They should have experience with a 3D CG package, demonstrating a solid understanding of rendering, lighting, shading networks, polygonal modeling, and texture UV’s. They should also demonstrate a strong ability to utilize in-house tools to solve technical problems and improve performance as well as interacting with engineers to help develop new tools and workflows.

Responsibilities:

Involved in look-development around key surfaces and shaders to ensure lighting delivers against visual reference
Creating both the exterior and interior lighting within environments and cut scenes.
Placing and adjustment of light sources within the environment.
Tweaking of shading materials and textures to improve the perception of the lighting.
Post processing; color grading, exposure, SSAO, bloom, tone mapping curves etc.
Contributing to the development and placement of special effects related to lighting and atmosphere, such as light flares, fog, god rays and camera optics.
Prototyping the use of lighting technology to reach the visual targets defined by the art direction.
Profile existing and future levels to maximize the quality of lighting on characters and environments while staying within performance budgets.

Experience & Skills:

Experience in creating and shipping AAA quality titles as a real-time lighting artist.
Deep understanding of CG lighting technology, both real-time and software rendering.
Strong sense of lighting theory; color space, exposure, light fixtures, natural light, reflections etc.
Good understanding of cinematography and dramaturgy; the use of camera technology, scene blocking and lighting to set the mood.
Good understanding and experience with physical based lighting system
Being pro-active in the use of lighting as a powerful tool in gameplay clarity. For example; to guide the player forward, highlight objectives and enemies.
An ability to thoroughly digest the art direction and be a champion for executing it in the game.
Skilled at balancing visual quality against performance requirements.
Thorough knowledge of the game development process.
Great communication skills and an ability to work autonomously with minimal guidance.

UI Artist

Foundry 42 Ltd is looking for a talented UI Artist to work on our ground-breaking space-sim, Star Citizen.

At Cloud Imperium Games, we strive to explore and discover innovative ways to keep the player mentally engaged and immersed in our universe. Part of this includes our unique approach in how we project various user-interfaces, in that we display them directly within the game world, in high-fidelity, seamlessly intertwining with the narrative and fiction. The ideal candidate will demonstrate through their work, a keen eye towards functional user interfaces, with a clean and high-end modern visual aesthetic fitting for our grand sci-fi universe.

Responsibilities

· Work within the UI team and assist in defining the look / feel of key user-interfaces and styles, engaging in all aspects of the design process.
· Construct menu systems, buttons, and other necessary UI assets as well as integrate those assets, iterating directly within the game engine to achieve desired results.
· Work with engineers and other team members in understanding functionality necessary for implementing various interface / interaction solutions.
· Present UI mock-ups and design solutions to the rest of the UI team.
· Proactively engage in the collaborative process and provide feedback and suggestions to fellow team members.

Requirements

· At least three or more years of experience in designing user-interfaces for games and/or other related software mediums.
· Experience with software development processes, and working within production deadlines.

· Moderate to high degree of experience in Photoshop, Illustrator.
· Experience working with version control software (Perforce, or similar).
