Senior Lighting Artist – Maya

Description

About the Position

As a senior lighting artist, you will oversee the daily activities of the lighting team and ensure deliverables are completed on time. You will work closely with the VFX supervisor and various other teams to successfully meet the shows technical and creative needs.

Responsibilities

Lead the lighting team on delivering the show needs on time and in the expected quality
Ensure and maintain the expected render quality and style across the show
Communicate and work closely with the VFX supervisor, compositing and shading leads, and the pipeline team to ensure an efficient and creative production
Establish lookdev lighting environment to match the show’s needs
Collaborate with compositing lead to establish an efficient framework for both lighting and compositing teams
Support, assist and mentor other team members
Review, debug and improve other team members’ assets, workflows and techniques
Meet production deadlines and maintain regular communication with the production team
Communicate with other supervisor and team leads on concerns and production issues ahead of time
Be a positive and creative force in building a healthy work and team culture
Provide constructive criticism, wisdom, guidance and feedback that will help others further their career development

Qualifications

3+ years of experience in animation or film industry
Previous experience in lighting and/or compositing in animation TV or film
Good understanding of modelling, texturing, shading, lighting, compositing and rendering workflows
Experience in Maya is a must
Experience in Nuke and/or Fusion is a must
Experience in Renderman RIS or Reyes is a benefit
Experience in Katana is a benefit
Able to take direction, collaborate and be a team player
Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner
Able to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas
Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
Able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure

Renderman TD

Description

About the Position

The Renderman TD is responsible for creating, implementing, and supporting our shading, lighting and render pipeline together with the pipeline supervisor. Working closely with the shading and lighting department to write shaders, you will create an efficient renderman pipeline, examine shading network for issues and give advices to the artists. The ideal candidate must have previous experience in Renderman for TV or film productions and working knowledge on renderman shaders for REYE or RIS.

Responsibilities

Create and implement rendering pipeline together with the pipeline supervisor
Work closely with shading and lighting artists to assess and improve our renders
Work closely with the pipeline team to identify and solve issues
Create and implement shaders and other shading-network nodes to optimize performance and creativity
Create and implement tools and workflows to improve the rendering pipeline
Be proactive, forward thinking and collaborate with others
Actively participate in production-related meetings by offering thoughts and ideas
Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner
Be a positive and creative force on the team

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in rendering pipeline for TV or film
Excellent understanding of texturing, shading, lighting and comp workflows
Excellent understanding in Renderman and/or Arnold is a must
Working experience in writing shaders using RLS, OSL and/or C++ is a must
Excellent understanding in Maya is a must
Good understanding of Shaders is preferred
Good understanding of Rib files, Python is preferred
Able to communicate in a professional and positive manner
Able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure
Strong ability and passion for solving technical and creative issues
Experience implementing Renderman extensions, such as RSL plugins, procedural and RIF is preferred

Lead Rigger

Description

About the Position

As the lead rigger your primary responsibility is to create highly versatile character rigging systems and animation interfaces. You work collaboratively with various departments to achieve the intended performance requirements and keep current with evolving rigging technologies. The rigs will be used for the animation of 3D characters and props.

Responsibilities

Work closely with pipeline TD’s to improve rigging technology
Keep current on rigging techniques and technology
Rig 3D assets (characters, props, sets, etc.) to achieve the intended animation performance
Use skinning and other deformers to achieve the intended performance in an efficient manner
Troubleshoot, maintain and improve rigs in production, while ensuring their stability for the animation team
Collaborate closely with design, modelling and shading to best achieve the intended animation performance requirements
Evaluate, research and recommend techniques and ideas to improve production
Actively participate in production-related meetings by offering thoughts and ideas
Meet production deadlines and maintain regular communication with the production team
Communicate with modeling and pipeline supervisor on concerns and production issues ahead of time
Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner
Be a positive and creative force on the team
Additional responsibilities as required

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in television or relevant industry experience
Proficiency in Maya is a must
Good understanding of rigging and deformation techniques
Good understanding of animation process and needs
Demonstrated knowledge and technical skills relating to character rigging and animation
Strong problem solving skills
Knowledge in Python or MEL is a benefit
Knowledge in nCloth, nHair, xGen or other simulation systems is a benefit
Able to multitask, prioritize and manage time efficiently
Able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure

You create characters, props and set models that accurately represent the artistic goals and story concepts of the production. You will be working in collaboration with the modelling and rigging team to create and deliver quality 3D models for DHX Media’s TV shows, which are loved by kids and admired by the industry worldwide.

Responsibilities

Create geometry and UVs for assets (characters, props, sets, etc.) based on production guidelines
Ensure modelling assets are delivered in the expected quality and technical requirements of the show
Work and communicate with rigging team to ensure assets are built to achieve the intended animation performance requirements
Work and communicate with shading teams to ensure assets meet their needs
Modify and improve existing modelling assets when needed
Ensure assets adhere to the established production guidelines and quality control
Interpret and implement notes and feedback from directors and supervisors in a timely and qualitatively acceptable way
Meet production deadlines and maintain regular communication with the production team
Mentor and support other members of the team
Communicate with modeling supervisor and leads on concerns and production issues ahead of time
Keep current on modelling techniques and technology
Recommend any team training needs to modelling supervisor
Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner
Be a positive and creative force on the team

Qualifications
