Description

Job Title: Compositor
Department: Digital Studio
Reports to: Digital Artist Manager, Compositing Supervisor
Status: Non-exempt
Classification: Project, Temporary work 1 year
Work Location: 1618West 8th Avenue, Vancouver, BC V6J 1V4
Salary Range: $50-75,000/year
NOC: 5241

Purpose of the job:

The digital Compositor takes multiple diverse elements, however they were created, and blends them together artistically into a seamless, photorealistic image. Skillfully makes it appear as if the elements were all part of the same scene utilizing various compositing techniques to accomplish the task.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Integrate cg elements and matte paintings into live action plates
Match color, lighting and exposure of stock elements to rendered or photographed elements
Matte extractions from blue/green screen photography
Clean and efficient script organization
Present work clearly in dailies and walkthroughs and respond to supervisor in a timely fashion
Transform and warp elements as needed
2D/3D camera tracking and stabilization
Grain and degrain as necessary
Plate speed up/slow down manipulation
Matte edge processing and integration
QC black levels, grain, color, mattes
Paint fixes and rotoscoping

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

2 years of node based compositing software experience (Nuke, Shake, Fusion)
Experience with Keylight, Primatte or Ultimatte
Knowledge of projection mapping
Maya knowledge a plus
Sound aesthetic with good understanding of color, contrast and lighting design
Knowledge of film resolution and aspect ratios
Strong problem solving skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Team player with great attitude
Dependable and flexible
Takes direction well
Exercises close attention to detail
Strong English ability

Digital Production Administrator (DPA)

Description

Purpose of the job:

The Digital Production Administrator is responsible for hands on management of facility resources including render nodes, disk space and I/O. The DPA works closely with the Assistant Technical Directors (ATD) to ensure show priorities and facility guidelines are being met while working to meet optimal efficiency of Facility Resources. The Digital Production Administrator serves as a dedicated production support liaison for the entire length of a production. A DPA provides a high level of technical support for facility-wide tools and pipeline support. DPA’s serve as the first point of contact for artist and production support and work as an intermediary between Software and Systems support.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Move data between Vancouver and Venice facilities. Move data on/off disk for Client deliveries or turnovers.
Manage Render Farm utilization and efficiency.
Troubleshooting of technical render issues and escalates to proper support channels if necessary.
Responsible for management of shows resources and maintaining optimal efficiency.
Responsible for providing productions with Projections and Resource Reports.

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

Production experience in computer animation, visual effects, or game industry.
Experience with Maya, Houdini, Nuke, or other 3rd party applications.
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Ability to establish priorities, work independently or within a group, and work with minimal supervision.
Exceptional communication skills in dealing with both technical and artistic groups.
BA or BS in Computer Science, Computer Graphics or Film.
Python, Perl, C++ programming skills a huge plus.

Core Software – QC/Build Engineer

Description

Purpose of the job:

You will develop and execute software test plans, troubleshoot issues and work closely with development teams to resolve problems. This position requires someone who is team-oriented, technology savvy and driven to produce quality results.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Conduct Functional, Integration, and Performance testing
Develop test code, scripts, test tools, and execute test cases to validate software releases
Investigate, debug, and conduct root cause analysis
Test and assess quality of existing and new website features and bug fixes
Create and maintain manual test suite for our websites and applications
Work collaboratively with developers, product managers and business users
Be the final gatekeeper before live deployment, i.e. you will make the final recommendation to the Global Pipeline Supervisor and/or Lead Core Software Engineer on whether a feature is fit to go live
Drive quality process and technology improvement for the development team
Understands and follows standard software engineering processes and best practices for requirements, design, implementation and testing
Works with Core Software to design, define and deliver automated tests and ensure better test coverage
Provides automated testing support through test script creation
Maintains tools, integration, and technologies to support a highly reliable development environment
Integrate with the development team and champion good development and testing processes
Develop and integrate new tools to fill gaps
Integrate systems and tools into existing code base and processes

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required:

College degree in Computer Science or a related field and/or a combination of education and experience that would be equivalent to that level of professionalism, problem solving and analytical skills.
3-5 + years work experience required in web testing, 3D computer graphics for digital animation or visual effects film or similar experience
In-depth experience with cross browser and cross device testing
In-depth knowledge of Manual Testing
Good analytical skills and ability to develop comprehensive test scenarios based on specifications
Experience with bug and test management tools like Bugzilla, ShotGun
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Quick learner with an inquisitive mind-set looking to find out why, how, what etc.
Ability to multi-task effectively and willingness to go the extra mile when required

Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:

Previous experience with Drupal sites
Previous experience with manual multi-lingual testing
Knowledge of database testing in MySQL, Oracle or SQL Server
Knowledge of automation testing
Experience of working in an agile environment
