It’s amazing to see the marriage of Science and Art to produce these wonderful effects! Disney Animation is pushing boundaries, again! Both Tangled and Frozen seem to be an experiment (hair, snow), and they are achieving it!

  • Brent Tyler

This is such an amazing tool. I wish they posted simulation times, but still, bravo!

this is so inspiring! the company keeps pushing the boundaries of art and technology! thanks Disney

  • Hullo!

CGI keeps getting more and more real-feeling. Keep up the good work, Disney!

  • I have a question. My friend loves Math and really wants to make an impact in the film world, but he does not want to do programming or engineering. What would this job title or similar job titles be called that figures out all the math equations like above?

I think you’d be looking at a technical artist/director (TA/TD) position. But to put that math knowledge to use some programming would probably be involved, but not as in coding full applications, just extending the fuctionality of existing software. I’d recommend that your friend look into Houdini…It’s a very powerful and flexible program where math skills helps a great deal, and there’s even a fully functional, free learning edition with no time limit to get into it. So yea, Houdini by sidefx would be a good first step.
