Technical Writer

Description

Purpose of the job:

We are looking for a Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our software tools.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of our software tools and the documentation requirements
Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
Create and maintain the information architecture
Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help and developer guides
Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required:

Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation
Ability to deliver high quality documentation paying attention to detail
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and make them easily understandable in text and pictures
Excellent written skills in English
Basic familiarity with software development
University degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred
Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:

Experience with Confluence desired

Texture Artist

Description

Purpose of the job:

The Senior Texture Artist will produce photorealistic textures from scratch textures from scratch and see them through the textures pipeline from start to finish.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Create photorealistic textures from scratch that meet all technical and aesthetic standards for the project
Is assigned the most difficult work and complex sequences
Complete tasks within production deadlines while being largely self-directed
Be able to provide guidance and mentorship to other texture artists
Work closely with the modeling artists to ensure all textures work smoothly throughout the pipeline
Create photorealistic textures from scratch that meet all technical and aesthetic standards for the project
Is able to work on complex assets and sequences
Complete tasks within production deadlines while being largely self-directed
Be able to provide guidance and mentorship to other texture artists
Work closely with the modeling artists to ensure all textures work smoothly throughout the pipeline
Work closely with look development and lighting artists to ensure textures are working technically and aesthetically in the lighting pipeline

Qualifications:

3+ years of experience creating photorealistic textures for feature films in Mari with experience in Maya ideal
Extensive experience working with photographic elements to create textures
Understanding of color spaces and working in a linear-lighting pipeline
Extensive experience editing and generating UVs
Mari, Photoshop, and Zbrush experience is preferred
Photorealistic modeling, look development or lighting experience is a plus
Must have excellent communication and organizational skills
Leading or mentoring experience is a plus

Digital Producer

Description

Purpose of the job:

The Digital Producer is responsible for the planning, scheduling, management, and delivery of all aspects of digital production for feature film visual effects. Oversees all production workflow and partners with the VFX producer and show supervisors to deliver the contracted work on schedule.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Oversees the daily operations of the show Production team and Digital Artists to ensure efficient flow of work through the facility
Works with show supervisors and VFX Producer to develop a breakdown of all digital effects work for the project
Works with VFX Producer to revise bids and manage facility show costs
With the support of the DPM to create a schedule for all phases of production
Creates and maintains task assignments for the teams and works with team leads to create element and final delivery schedules
Supervises a team of DPMs, Production Coordinators, and Production Assistants to schedule and update progress of tasks in the production tracking system and on the show board
Partners with the show supervisors and leads to understand the development schedule, show pipeline, and its implication for production workflow
Participates in show planning meetings with Supervisors and Technology teams through both development and shot production phases of the project
Creates the call sheet and daily schedule, ensuring that dailies, client meetings, Supervisor walkthroughs, production meetings, and other priorities are effectively planned and managed
Prioritizes daily output for CG elements and client deliveries
Identifies potential issues in advance, facilitates problem solving and maintains the momentum required to keep the team delivering shots on schedule
Acts as escalation point for conflict resolution and all show-related facility issues
Trains and mentors Production staff and leads show performance appraisal process for Production team
Plans and leads the execution of the show post-mortems
Partners with HR and Supervisors to complete the show performance appraisal process for digital artists

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in film, art, communications or related field
7+ years experience in production management or supervisory role for feature film visual effects required
Demonstrated organizational, project management and leadership skills
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required; experience with production tracking software and asset management software a plus

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

Demonstrated ability to resolve conflict

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high pressure environment

Game Engine Environment Artist

Description

Purpose of the job:

Digital Domain is one of the largest and most influential visual effects studios in the world. We produce top tier visual effects for movies, television, commercials, along with virtual production, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) development services for clients and internally created content. The virtual production team is leading the industry with an advanced real-time visualization pipeline tightly integrated with motion capture, game engine, and interactive VR/AR technologies. We are looking to expand this team for work on key feature film and immersive storytelling experiences. We are seeking experienced environment artists to work on feature film and virtual reality projects that utilize game engines for visualization. If you can build and texture awe inspiring environments and have a passion to work in both feature film and game worlds then we are looking for you.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

To work closely with the virtual art department supervisor and Virtual Art Department (VAD) team to develop and build environments, game spaces and help develop visual ideas, and create final environment assets as directed by feature film makers and internally driven virtual reality projects
Environmental, prop and vehicle assets will need to be created from scratch and based upon reference artwork and photography.
Asset creation will include models, UV maps, textures and materials.
Integration of art assets into the game engine with initial lighting both exterior and interior.
Active participation in technical and artistic discussions and problem solving.
Maintains a consistent style under director of production designers, art directors and creative directors.
Work closely with TD’s to ensure the pipeline is as efficient as possible.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required:

2+ years modelling experience in games industry as an environment artist with at least one AAA game shipped on PC or console.
2 + years of experience using Maya, Photoshop, Z-Brush, Mudbox or equivalent.
2+ years of experience with asset development for Unity and/or Unreal.

Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:

Experience with asset development for use in Unity and or Unreal.
Excellent mid and low poly modeling skills.
Good visual and technical understanding of 3D modeling and texturing.
Strong knowledge of real-life architecture, materials and lighting.
Strong knowledge of texture mapping (including normal, diffuse, spec etc), UV mapping and generation along with texture creation and painting.
Fast, organized, take direction well, and can deal with high profile directors, vfx supervisors and production designers.
Knowledge of Motionbuilder advantageous.
Knowledge of Substance advantageous.
Knowledge of shader development in Unity and Unreal advantageous.
Knowledge of scripting (Python, MEL, C# scripting in Unity, Unreal Blueprint) useful.
Strong organizational and communications skills along with understanding production values, deadlines and priorities
Willing to take direction and be a team player.
