Senior Marketing Manager

Description

Purpose of the job:

The Senior Marketing Manager will play a critical role in the planning and execution of the company’s marketing activities, including messaging, advertising, design, social media, events, website maintenance/development, SEO, product launches, customer references, partner marketing, support of the business development team and internal communications. This role will both manage external vendors and serve as an individual contributor, and will work closely with the PR manager and counterparts in Asia to coordinate cross-channel campaigns.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Drive content for use in public relations, website, advertising and social efforts
Work closely with business development teams to provide marketing support
Manage and maintain the website, liaise with international teams to coordinate localization of the site
Liaise with and support parent companies’ marketing efforts
Manage the company brand and help evolve the message
Drive the company’s activity across social media channels
Manage North American paid search campaigns
Manage the company’s presence at events and tradeshows
Manage the launch of and contributions to the blog
Work with partners on joint-promotions and awareness campaigns
Manage budgets and timelines across marketing campaigns
Track and report campaign metrics, present findings for data-driven marketing
Support internal communications (including Intranet) with writing/editing guidance; keep employee base apprised of company activities

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required:

College degree in communications and/or marketing or a related field, and/or a combination of education and experience equivalent to that level of professionalism, problem solving, and analytical skills required
7+ years work experience required in entertainment, preferably the VFX Feature Film, virtual reality and/or Commercials/Advertising industry

Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:

Knowledge base of current industry technology trends preferred
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
Expertise with social media tools and channels
Portfolio and writing samples evidencing successful marketing campaigns required
Familiarity with visual effects industry is desired
Experience in production environment is desired
Ability to self-manage, and to prioritize and execute multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
International business experience a plus

Accounting Manager

Description

Purpose of the job:

Digital Domain, the Academy Award-winning feature film and commercial visual effects studio located in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for its Finance Department, who will coordinate and manage key financial processes, including month end close, treasury needs and cash flow forecasting, financial planning, reporting and budgeting. This position will report directly to SVP, Corporate Controller.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Responsible for the day-to-day general ledger accounting and reporting
Ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP and internal controls
Responsible for the preparation, coordination, review and analysis of the management reporting package for month-end
Work with cross-functional teams to manage accurate accounting and reporting
Review and finalize Trial Balance, P&L, Balance Sheet
Review and finalize variance analysis
Prepare and review Inter-Company allocations
Prepare and review account reconciliations, account analysis, accrual calculations, and other related accounting documents/schedules
Coordinate and review monthly, quarterly and annual statutory reporting

Education and/or Experience Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA required
7+ years Accounting/Finance experience
Experience working with multi-business units within a global corporation preferred
Revenue Recognition Multiple Elements preferred
Experience in consolidation and preparing reporting package of full financials to parent company
Experience with Oracle Fusion a plus
Previous management experience with excellent leadership skills and hands-on management style

Lighting Artist

Description

Purpose of the job:

The Lighting Artist will light shots and sequences and may participate in some Look Development. The Lighting Artist will work within the lighting and rendering pipeline to see shots through from start to finish.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Create photorealistic CG lighting that meets all technical and aesthetic standards for the project
Complete tasks within production deadlines while being largely self-directed
Be able to troubleshoot common rendering and lighting technical issues

Education and/or Experience Required:

A wide range of experience and skills that can be used to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways
3+ years experience creating photorealistic lighting for feature films in Maya, Renderman, or Vray. Leading or mentoring experience is a plus
Extensive experience in a wide range of CG Lighting techniques and technical methods
Experience with HDRs and image based lighting
Ability to troubleshoot common rendering issues
Python or MEL experience in production is a plus
Must have excellent communication and organizational skills

Look Development Artist

Description

Purpose of the job:

The Look Development Artist works as part of the Look Development team that defines all the technical and aesthetic aspects needed to create the appearance of a 3-D element.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Strong knowledge of VRay and Maya or similar raytraced renderers
Fluent with node-based shading networks
Creating shader networks in VRay and Maya to hand off to lighting for use in shot production
Participates as a team member in determining various design and technical solutions; provides feedback to other team members of the production
Linear color pipeline/understanding of colorspaces and global illumination problems and techniques

Strong knowledge of VRay and Maya

CG Supervisor (Commercials)

Description

Purpose of the job:

The CG Supervisor oversees the throughput of shots through the 3D pipeline, partnering with the VFX Supervisor to ensure delivery of assigned work on schedule and on budget. They are also responsible for the implementation of an efficient and effective approach that allows the artists to focus on creating the highest quality images with a minimum of resources within the production schedule and budget.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Partners with the VFX Supervisor and/or VFX Producer in scheduling/updating the tasks on the show
Partners with the Production Coordinators in task management at the asset and shot level; includes wrangling weekly goals and pushing shots through the pipeline
Participates in turnover meetings, shot breakdowns, and re-bidding over the course of the show
Participates in the staffing aspects of the show. Includes liaising with the facility Department Supervisors and Artist Managers on staffing and assessing resource needs across shows.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the tools and techniques in use within the facility pipeline and offers creative solutions to the VFX Supervisor and team
Ensures Team dailies are set up and running consistently
Provides concise direction and feedback to Leads and artists on the floor, focusing effort on the critical parts of the shot
Delegates to Team Leads and/or artists to ensure focus on technique and methodology
Mediates discussions within the Leads and Artists, acts as an escalation point for the Leads and resolves conflicts between the Leads as needed
Anticipates show challenges and identifies solutions with the VFX Supervisor, maintaining an ongoing focus on optimization and streamlining throughout the life of the show
Identifies and utilizes tools and techniques which improve productivity and the quality of the work; avoids reinvention of the wheel or duplication of effort both within the show and across the facility
Responsible for render prioritization across the show
Participates in the bidding process as required, working with the VFX Producer to help assess creative strategy, determine methodology and accurately estimate work-load and resource requirements
Collaborates with other CG Supervisors and VFX Supervisors in the facility and promotes a positive and productive work environment
Responsible to the VFX Supervisor in realizing his vision
Responsible for the success/failure of the artist departments on a show
Ensures effective communication between disciplines within the show and partners with peer group to ensure critical information is shared across shows
Mentors the Leads and Artists, providing ongoing feedback and participating in mid-show and end of show review process for team

Education and/or Experience Required:

Minimum of 6 years of artist experience across 2 disciplines
Minimum of 2 years of Lead experience in commercials required, CG Supervisor experience a plus
Strong knowledge of the entire post-production process relating to visual effects
Must have a sense of strong team dynamics and a positive morale generating style
Must have strong problem solving mentality and/or the ability to accurately place people who can solve a particular problem
Ability to successfully delegate, mentor, and manage people and projects

FX Artist

Description

Purpose of the job:

The FX Artist works closely with the FX lead and FX TDs to create high quality effects including rigid body and particle dynamics, volume modeling and rendering, procedural geometry generation and fluid dynamics.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Design and animate high quality, photo-real effects (fire, smoke, explosions, debris, clouds, etc) that meet all technical and aesthetic standards for the project
Work within the show structure and production deadlines to complete all tasks
Work closely with Lighting Artist and Compositors to ensure all effects will work smoothly within the show pipeline
Produce look tests based on provided reference materials
Take direction from FX Leads and FX TDs as well as provide guidance and mentorship to other FX Artists

Qualifications:

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

3+ years experience as an FX Artist creating photo-real effects elements for feature films and commercials
Degree in Animation, Arts, Fine Arts or equivalent production experience
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Mathematics a plus
Expert knowledge of any/all of the following: rigid body and particle dynamics, volume modeling and rendering, procedural geometry generation and fluid dynamics
Strong understanding of physical dynamics and natural phenomena
Production experience working in Houdini and/or Maya is required
Experience with one or more other professional software packages such as 3D Studio Max or Real Flow is a plus
Requires strong technical and communication skills within a show structure
Firm understanding of effects production pipelines
Python scripting is a plus

Compositing Supervisor

Description

Purpose of the job:

The Compositing Supervisor has years of experience in a supervisory capacity and command of Nuke or another high end node based compositing software. They are responsible for staffing and managing a team of compositors which creates the final approved composited images that meet or exceed the client’s expectations

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Assists Producer in bidding and scheduling
Staffing in collaboration with Producer and Manager
Interviews and reviews potential candidates with Manager
Determines technical approach and pipeline for compositing
Look development or delegates to appropriate Lead or senior compositor
Attends Dailies, walkthroughs, and production meetings
Point person between Production, DFX, CG Sups, and compositing team
Assigns shots to compositors and monitors shot progress
Color timing and management of sequence continuity
Identifies problems and effectively implements solutions
Quality control on all composites
Composites shots of any level of complexity as needed or time allows
Mentors less experienced artists

Upon completion of project:

Documentation and element archiving
Provides in-depth feedback of compositing crew to Manager
Participates in Post-Mortem

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required:

Minimum 7 years experience
Understanding of photography, composition, lighting, color and motion
Extremely strong understanding of Nuke compositing software required
Experience and knowledge of stereoscopic tools and methods desired
Demonstrated leadership qualities
Strong communication skills
Time Management and organizational skills
Aesthetically and creatively solid and capable of producing highest quality images

Experience integrating work into Maya, Houdini and Nuke
Experience working from on-set integration data
Some basic modeling experience is preferred
Animation Rig-based character match-moving experience is a plus
PFTrack experience is a plus
