Virtual Production Developer

Description

Purpose of the job:

Digital Domain is one of the largest and most influential visual effects studios in the world. We produce top tier visual effects for movies, television, commercials, along with virtual production, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) development services for clients and internally created content. The virtual production team is leading the industry with an advanced real-time visualization pipeline tightly integrated with motion capture, game engine, and interactive VR/AR technologies. We are looking to expand this team for work on key feature film and immersive storytelling experiences. We are seeking an experienced real time plugin developer for Motion Builder and Maya. This role will be helping develop and maintain core realtime plugin’s to handle motion capture and animation data along with hardware device input for virtual production and virtual reality projects.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

To work closely within the virtual production team to develop and maintain heavily optimized realtime server/client data streaming plugin’s in Motion Builder and Maya.
To develop and maintain plugins within Motion Builder and Maya to deal with real time motion capture, meta data and animation data.
To develop and maintain plugins within Motion Builder to interface directly with custom hardware, input devices and network interfaces to Unity.
Work with the lead virtual production TD to understand technical requirements, identify and prioritize development tasks.
Develop and maintain documentation for tools, techniques and workflows.
Collaborate closely with Unity developers, Unity TD’s and other pipeline TD’s to create new and exciting workflows, tools and techniques to support virtual production techniques in real time.
Active participation in technical and artistic discussions and problem solving.

Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience Required:

3+ years experience authoring and developing tools and plugins in C++.
2+ years development experience within games and/or motion capture industries.
Skills, Abilities, Special Licenses or Certificate:
Good knowledge of plugin development for Motion Builder, Maya and/or Unity.
Strong knowledge of object oriented design, 3D Math, and data structures optimized for realtime processing.
Strong working knowledge of server/client networking architecture and protocols.
Strong knowledge of matrix algebra, trigonometry and computational geometry essential.
Working knowledge of Python advantageous.

Texture Artist

The Senior Texture Artist will produce photorealistic textures from scratch textures from scratch and see them through the textures pipeline from start to finish.

Digital Producer

Description

Purpose of the job:

The Digital Producer is responsible for the planning, scheduling, management, and delivery of all aspects of digital production for feature film visual effects. Oversees all production workflow and partners with the VFX producer and show supervisors to deliver the contracted work on schedule.

Oversees the daily operations of the show Production team and Digital Artists to ensure efficient flow of work through the facility

Creates and maintains task assignments for the teams and works with team leads to create element and final delivery schedules
Supervises a team of DPMs, Production Coordinators, and Production Assistants to schedule and update progress of tasks in the production tracking system and on the show board
Partners with the show supervisors and leads to understand the development schedule, show pipeline, and its implication for production workflow
Participates in show planning meetings with Supervisors and Technology teams through both development and shot production phases of the project
Creates the call sheet and daily schedule, ensuring that dailies, client meetings, Supervisor walkthroughs, production meetings, and other priorities are effectively planned and managed
Prioritizes daily output for CG elements and client deliveries
Identifies potential issues in advance, facilitates problem solving and maintains the momentum required to keep the team delivering shots on schedule
Acts as escalation point for conflict resolution and all show-related facility issues
Trains and mentors Production staff and leads show performance appraisal process for Production team
Plans and leads the execution of the show post-mortems
Partners with HR and Supervisors to complete the show performance appraisal process for digital artists

Core Software Engineer

The Core Software Team at Digital Domain is responsible for core tools and distributed services for use across the facility including: asset, task, and software management; dailies, render submission, analytics, cross site data transfer, and core Python libraries.
Digital Domain is seeking a Software Engineer to help advance the feature set, integration and operation of internal systems with Shotgun. The position requires expertise in a comprehensive set of areas including databases, services, server-side code, Python-based client APIs, and tools.
The Core Software Engineer with Shotgun Focus is responsible for the administration and operation of Shotgun within the facility. Responsibilities also include designing, implementing, testing, and deploying code that integrates with Shotgun in a multi-site environment. This is a challenging but exciting position for an experienced developer with strong skills in Python, relational databases, web services and an understanding of software stacks that span from client tools to back-end services that are integrated with Shotgun and other production tracking systems.

Compositing Supervisor (Commercials)

The Compositing Supervisor has years of experience in a supervisory capacity and command of Nuke or another high end node based compositing software. They are responsible for staffing and managing a team of compositors which creates the final approved composited images that meet or exceed the client’s expectations.
