THE TALENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Join us for an opportunity to experience the art of animation and be a part of Walt Disney Animation Studios. The Talent Development Artist Program is available for recent graduates of undergraduate or graduate programs (within three years of graduation date) for a 3- or 12-month paid position at Walt Disney Animation.

THE LIGHTING TRAINEE
Lighters are an integral part of the storytelling process, using their keen eye to manipulate color and light to emphasize shifts of mood both subtle and dynamic. They assemble the elements of a shot into a final composite and compose the digital lighting of the scene.

Reels/portfolios/demonstrated skills should include:
• An understanding of color, contrast, and lighting design, along with a solid understanding with 3D lighting in a CG scene
• A strong visual sense and the ability to distinguish subtle differences that affect the matching of elements created in multiple mediums
• Experience with Maya and node-based compositing programs such as Shake or Nuke
• Exposure to ray trace rendering and experience working with or writing shaders a plus

With an understanding of 3D space, color, lighting, and motion, Stereographic artists must use
their binocular vision superpowers to create an immersive and watchable 3D experience that
supports the story of a film. Stereo teams often collaborate with Layout, Look, and Lighting directors to plan and iterate Stereo strategy.

THE ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
Technical Directors strategize solutions to a range of production and pipeline issues. You’ll flex your technical skills to write scripts, adapt tools, and modify workflows in support of artistic endeavors. You will work directly with artists and software developers to solve problems and implement new techniques.

Reels/portfolios/demonstrated skills should include:
• Experience with commercial graphics packages including Maya, Houdini and ray trace rendering• Experience with scripting including Python and MEL• Experience with the Linux or Unix operating system
• Solid understanding of the production processes and pipelines of CG Animation, VFX or Video Game productions
• Solid overview of element production and shot production phases including modeling, rigging, animation, layout, look development and lighting/rendering• Strong problem solving skills required• Ability to work in a collaborative environment, taking direction well• Experience with C or C++ development or shader writing (RSL) a plus• Understanding of stereoscopic concepts and production processes a plus
