We are always on the look out for VFX Editors who are interested in short term contracts (2 -3 months in duration). If you are interested in longer term opportunities we will post for these separately in the future.
The visual effects Editor is responsible for handling all editorial tasks required on shows in addition to internal requests.
Processing turnover information and revised edits and updating internal edits and databases accordingly
Maintaining all cuts, keeping them updated with the latest versions from artists
Providing witness cam, line up, retime and resize reference to artists
Managing Avid media and storage
Maintaining shot and VFX databases
Having an expert understanding of all editorial tools
Managing client deliveries
Making and requesting selects for additional media requests e.g. element shoots
Liaising with Framestore Editorial at other offices
Liaising with cutting rooms (when applicable)
Preparing for and driving dailies sessions and client meetings
Providing motivation and training for assistants (where relevant or necessary)
Working closely with internal production, artists and other support departments providing advice, reference and information when needed
Cutting in house reels
Respecting confidentiality and media security policies
Several years experience working in a film VFX Editorial department, cutting room or similar environment
Demonstrable proficiency in editing using Avid
A firm understanding of the VFX process and terminology
An understanding of film and digital formats, files, frame rates and resolutions
File encoding/transcoding experience, exhibiting a sound understanding of video codecs and file formats
Professional experience in the following software/hardware: Avid, 2k playback software such as Baselight, Framecycler or RV, Linux (basic), Cinesync, Shotgun, Photoshop (basic), Keynote, Compressor, DVD Studio Pro and Filemaker Pro

The CG Supervisor works with the VFX Supervisor and Producer and is responsible for all CG aspects of a VFX film. The role includes developing, maintaining or improving techniques and providing team-building through developing structure, Lead artist roles and delegation. The CG Supervisor also works with the Producer to facilitate the scheduling of artists and resources and works with the VFX Supervisor to provide artistic and technical notes and direction to the team. The CG Supervisor is also involved in client interactions in order to represent Framestore’s capabilities both technically and creatively.
Work with the VFX Supervisor to explore and create the look of a film to a client’s requirements and specifications
Work and deal with clients to receive the brief, discuss Framestore’s capabilities and determine the deadlines for delivery
Work closely with Producers, artists and other necessary departments in creating high quality visual effects
Provide clear direction to all CG departments, setting clear objectives and monitoring the process, progress and results
Evaluate the creative requirements of a project, determine the technical implications and make high-level operational decisions (e.g. the balance between third party tools versus proprietary development and the selection of specific technical methodologies)
Clearly brief developers on r&d and pipeline requirements
Determine, modify and maintain the most effective and efficient technical approach and workflow possible
Conduct reviews as final quality control on all deliveries of shots prior to VFX Supervisor and client review
Eliminate potential problems in pipeline tools before they impact on production
Assist in the recruitment of 3D artists to ensure the right fit, skills and experience required for projects and teams
Extensive production experience in a similar or relevant position
The ability to review other artists’ work and ensure a high standard both artistically and technically
A thorough understanding of the entire visual effects process and the ability to interpret the artistic brief from the VFX Supervisor
Good technical understanding of CG pipelines and the ability to specify efficient workflows and identify additional tools
A good knowledge and experience of all areas of 3D (modeling, rigging, texturing, look development, environments, creature FX, lighting and FX)
An understanding of the 2D pipeline
An excellent understanding of photography and film with strong artistic skills including knowledge of colour, lighting, perspective, scale and composition
Previous experience working within production leadership teams and meeting schedule and budget requirements
Excellent organisational, communication and project management skills

Essential skills and experience:
Hyper standards-compliant XHTML programming practices
Proven experience with CSS, HTML5, jQuery, WebGL etc. to create rich/interactive/animated content
OCD coding syntax, tabs, naming conventions, and comments
Development of cross-browser and cross-platform compatible solutions
Experience with backend/server-side frameworks (e.g. AWS, WordPress, Codeigniter, Ember, Angular, etc…) to creative interactive, dynamic, data-driven web-pages and applications.
Able to work with CG & Video source assets.
Proven ability to integrate hardware with web based projects, e.g. webcams/sensors
Appreciation for Web Accessibility and how that should translate to code to W3C standards
Experience working in teams on multiple projects
Experience liaising with technical and non-technical users
Good communication and documentation skills
Familiar with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
An understanding of VFX/3D/CG
Realtime rendering: knows how it works. Rasterization, skinning, animation, etc.

3D UI/ UX Designer

As a 3D UX /UI Designer , you will be part of the rapidly expanding VR Studio at Framestore’s New York office. You will often be working on projects that are the first of it’s kind, and expected to solve challenges that you may not have been presented with before. While VR is still blossoming, and the field of 3D UI/ UX is still relatively nascent, the ideal candidate will have a diverse background in UX /UI design for platforms like games, web, etc.
Identify and design various UI/ UX needs across virtual and/or augmented reality applications.
Work closely with our development team to rapidly prototype and build applications and application interfaces.
Develop wireframes and related documents to illustrate user interfaces/flows.
Concept overall design direction for various applications.
Research, stay updated, and report on the latest design work within the field.

BS/MS in Graphic and/or Interaction Design, or related field
5-8+ years of relevant experience

You have worked on immersive experiences beyond games and/or web, you understand how people interact with experiences in the real world.
Understanding and awareness of various virtual and augmented reality technology, as well as the tools used to create experiences for these platforms.
Self-motivated, and capable of self-direction. The ideal candidate is able to work on their own, but also in teams, potentially as a lead.
Extreme attention to detail, and a high standard for excellence.
Passionate about VR, new tech, and challenges.
This is important, it’s not all about a great design aesthetic. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of human interaction, behavior, etc. VR is more viscerally interactive than any medium before. This is no longer about a “user” or a “camera,” experiences are more immersive.
