ROLE SUMMARY:

FunPlus is looking for a dedicated and passionate art lead who is comfortable in working on a small team to breathe new life into one of the classic farm franchises. The right candidate will be responsible for building an art team in Beijing and helping shaping the creative culture in the FunPlus’ Beijing Office as well as work closely with peer Art leads and teams overseas, and should possess excellent verbal and written communication in Chinese.

SKILLS:

1. Have strong organizational and planning skills
Passionate about the games industry and stays up to date market trends.
2. Exceptional hand-on artistic abilities; must be flexible and have the ability to create for a variety of subjects and styles.
3. Have an eye for details and can solve problems creatively.
4. Demonstrated ability to break apart artistic problems in a wide variety of disciplines and communicate how they can be solved to the art team.
5. Ability to efficiently and effectively get the art team to buy in on the ‘big picture’ and guide the team in understanding priorities adjustments, shipping goals as well as visual goals.
6. A team player who can effectively communicate with the art team as well as with other leads from multiple departments.
7. Instinctively understand how to balance quality with the constraints of time, resource and tech limitation.
8. Must be able to work independently and feel ownership of the project and be a leader to the artists.
9. Actively promote culture and fun at the workplace
10.Must be able to handle pressure and cope with changes as projects evolve.
11.Passionate about growth in skills and experience for oneself as well as mentor others to do the same.
12.Enthusiastic for growing artists and the developing both the culture and maximizing the performance of the art team.
13.Advanced knowledge of Adobe CS softwares.
14.Knowledge in animation, visual effects, post production, and 3D a plus.

DAY-TO-DAY TASKS:

1. Create exceptional art work, contributing concepts as well as help finish game-ready assets, UI and promotional work.
2. Actively manage art production progress and balance constraints with budget, time, quality and tech limitations.
3. Work closely with Art Director and Associate Art Director to ensure that art team creates work that is consistent with the project
4. Collaborate with project managers and create tasks and carry out project plans with the art team
5. Communicate with engineers to ensure that artworks are properly implemented in the game .
6. Keep good communication with Product and Engineering leads that tasks are going according to plan
7. Manage production pipeline for the art team in order to continually grow the capacity for higher efficiency and creativity.
8. Work collaboratively with other in-house or overseas artists as well as interface with outsource teams
9. Actively recruit, interview and review suitable applicants’ portfolios.
10.Play the games!

EXPERIENCE:

1. 5+ years of professional experience in the games industry or equivalent experience.
2. Bachelor’s degree in the Arts or related field is required
3. Senior or Lead role experience across at least one major project
4. At least 1 year of experience working on a live game

There will also be opportunities to visit China for periods of 3 months.
