Main Tasks and Responsibilities

As a Game Economy Designer, your responsibility is to understand how a game works as a service for its customers and how the customers behave in it. You will be identifying and developing the purchase drivers in the game economy context and providing constant data-driven recommendation on design, tuning and pricing in order to improve financial performance of games. This position is specifically aimed at the Chinese market.
To do this, pre-release, you’re able to design the virtual products a game will offer, define metrics which allow you to individually measure their impact in a given title and work closely with the development team to see those designs refined and metrics implemented.
Once the game is launched, you’re able to analyze the collected data and report which are the performing/underperforming aspects of the game economic model, why, and provide solutions to Gameloft management.
This is a position requiring a mix of strong economic and marketing knowledge with a passion for analytical game design and the emerging free-to-play business model. Because this position is primarily focused on the Chinese market, knowledge of traditional Chinese language is a great asset.

Day-to-day tasks include:

· Defining the virtual products and their statistics with the development team and understanding how each of them contributes to the game dynamics
· Identifying the potential sale drivers for the different product categories in the game economy, and defining the key points of exposure for those drivers
· Balancing the needs for those virtual products, their relationships, life cycles and their streams of availability
· Managing pricing to create specific price point roles and implementing selling strategies for higher price points
· Regularly providing user feedback and statistics/price point tuning to development team based on play-testing, both during game development and post-release
· Analyzing the evolution of the metrics you defined to spot both monetization bottlenecks and facilitators, then reporting suggestions for game design or strategy accordingly

Requirements:

· Previous experience as Game Designer, Social Designer or Gambling Designer
· Fluent written and spoken English, concise writing skills
· Knowledge of Traditional Chinese (Great asset);
· Strong understanding of MS Excel
· Advanced understanding of SQL
· Deep, up-to-date knowledge of the free-to-play market, both web-based and on smartphones
· Passion for games on all existing formats: board games, card games, sports, paper RPGs, gambling, all genres of video games with special focus on MMOs and competitive games

Profile:

· Strong sensitivity to gameplay and game design and solid understanding of how to build needs and emotions in the context of a game
· Strong analytical and formal thinking, able to break problems down to their key variables and to identify the relationships between them
· Strong econometrics skills, able to model problems into quantitative systems and draw qualitative conclusions out of quantitative data
· Knowledge of statistics, able to formulate ratios and indexes specific to each game to identify specific weaknesses and strengths in economy design
· Strong marketing knowledge, able to formulate adequate selling strategies to improve financial performance
· Understanding of client/server architecture and data collecting pipeline and mining

Assets:

· Previous experience in econometrics / data mining

Technical Animator (Rigger)

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Art Director and the Lead Animator, the selected candidate will be in charge of rigging, skinning and controlling animation data flow on various productions, creating high-quality content with provided tools and assets. Specific tasks include:

· Setting up custom human character rigs, complex vehicle rigs with secondary dynamic animation, and possibly also environment FX rigs;
· Writing utility scripts and tools to streamline the rigging setup process;
· Collaborating with animators to design motion controls;
· Developing and maintaining character motion and deformation systems;
· Developing secondary dynamic systems;
· Getting involved in R&D and tool building to improve the animation pipeline.

Requirements

In-depth knowledge of 3ds Max (custom rig/character studio/CATs) and MotionBuilder;
Experience writing scripts and automating rigging processes (Python/MAXscript);
Preferably at least 3 years’ experience in a professional production environment;
Experience with setting up state machines and the procedural animation pipeline;
Experience in setting up custom rigs for characters/vehicles;
Good understanding of 3D FK/IK skeletal animation systems for both control and deformation of 3D characters (stylised and realistic);

Managing a team of animators, and keeping animators on track and motivated
Ensuring the quality of animations produced in assigned projects

Reporting to the Art Director and working closely with Environment Modellers and Technical Artists (Shaders), the successful candidate will be in charge of creating the lighting for a AAA-quality 3D, photorealistic FPS (first-person shooter) on a next-generation mobile platform.

· Creating the lighting scheme, colour palette, and post-processing effects
· Making sure there is consistency in lighting, colour balance, and mood between the various elements of a shot or scene in the game

Requirements

· Proven industry experience in film or games

Reporting to the Manager of the Artist team, the successful candidate will be in charge of:

· Creating, and implementing real-time particle effects and animated shaders;
· Modeling, texturing, animating, lighting and optimizing VFX assets under direction of the Lead Artist;

As part of a Montreal-based team, you will supervise and take part in the production of environments, decor, and 3D assets for a AAA-quality 3D, photorealistic FPS (first-person shooter) on a next-generation mobile platform.

The selected candidate will participate and supervise an artistic production for a AAA photorealistic project. · Good knowledge of Nuke, 3D production procedures, and experience in multi-layer EXR compositing, set extension and FX elements
· Expert knowledge in projection cameras and the 3D environment in Nuke
· Able to finish shots in an independent manner within very short deadlines
· Strong artistic skills
· Good sense of colour, colour spaces and attention to detail

· Interest in various graphical styles (cartoonish/stylized/photorealistic)
· Interest in new technologies and tools
· Good visual culture in various fields (architecture, design, movies, comics, games, etc.)
