About Us

Busy full service production studio seeks Intermediate technical artist to join our team. A boutique studio in the lush and beautiful Vancouver, Canada. Goldtooth, founded in 2008, is one of the first rare hybrid studios of its kind – an all in one creative agency and full-service production studio, with complete visual effects and post facility. Housing a multi-award winning advertising, cinematics and visual effects team gathered under one roof. Artists with feature film Backgrounds, specializing in bring cinematic quality to video game trailers, commercials, marketing media and in-game story content.
We are looking for a talented and motivated tech artist to join our in-game cinematics team for a AAA platformer game. The primary focus of this position is assuring that assets created and refined in MAYA will integrate into in-game cinematics using the UNITY game engine. Having character and environment modelling, texturing and/or lighting experience will be a massive bonus. Top candidates will have a talent for bringing worlds to life and ensuring the game keeps artistic integrity while still working on the target platform.
Preference would be given to a candidate who is flexible with their work schedule and can devote several weeks initially to assure initial set up and tools are suitable and useable. After initial set-up, we would prefer a candidate who could be on call for problem times and would be placed on a monthly retainer.

What You Will be Doing

Direct the UNITY asset pipeline and assisting the animators with 3D asset integration
Ensure the game maintains the artistic vision while not exceeding the platforms technical limits
Ensure cinematics scenes are integrated without any glitches or breaking the game/build
Potentially assist in creating tools in Unity to assist with asset integration. However primary integration will be via Cinema Suite Director
Initial set-up with local team and ongoing support over a 4-6 month period

What We are Looking For

A great sense of humour and a passion for making games!
2+ years of video game experience as a technical artist
Skilled in the use of 3D graphics packages like Maya or 3DFX
Very comfortable with Unity3D and the Unity asset pipeline
Some experience with the Perforce pipeline
A solid understanding of scripting techniques and batch processing
Someone who can think creatively and resolve technical challenges and limitations

Bonus Qualifications

BFA in Digital Art, Traditional Art, New Media Design or related field or equivalent experience
Strong knowledge of shaders and shader programming
Experience with cross-platform game development on mobile, web and PC
