Cloth/Fur TD

Description

Hydraulx VFX Studio in Vancouver is looking for Cloth/fur TD to join us on current feature film projects.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Work with Model department to ensure geometry being simulated meets Technical Animation needs
• Work with Rigging and/or Layout department to ensure geometry or rigs delivered to Technical Animation meets needs
• Apply and simulate clothing, hair or other areas requiring technical animation.
• Analyze and fix any initial problems found and re-simulate as needed.
• Deliver simulated geometry to the production pipeline for further processing.
• Ensure that geometry delivered to production pipeline meets each department’s needs.
• Develop techniques to ensure the requested animated geometry will integrate into a photorealistic environment.
• Other duties as appropriate to the role and determined by supervisors.

Qualification:

– Good knowledge in a production environment with Maya and Houdini.
– Excellent working knowledge of hair, fur, and cloth simulation software such as Yeti, Shave & a Haircut, and Cloth.
– At least 2 years experience in feature film and/or television productions.
– Excellent problem solving and communication skills.

Description

Hydraulx Vancouver is currently seeking a talented and experienced VFX Producer. He/she is responsible for ensuring clear communication to the client and the production team, and that the production delivers on time and within the budget.

Key responsibilities:

Responsibility for identifying and developing new business opportunities.
Responsibility for the successful production and management of VFX & Digital projects.
Development of new client relationships and successfully maintaining existing relationships.
Managing and tracking cost efficiency of individual projects.
Project management and allocation of resources on projects.

Required Skills & Experience:

3 years extensive experience in Production/operational environments: VFX/Digital knowledge essential.
Must be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to build up rapport and strong relationships with clients and staff.
Experience in progressive HR.
Advanced Excel skills.
Attention to detail and constantly looking for ways to improve operational efficiencies within a business environment.

Camera Tracker/Layout Artist

Description

Tracking/Matchmove Artists

Requirements:

Converts background plates to various formats to use with specific software to create digital motion files that match the plate photography. This includes animating any live action character or relative object in the scene.
Establish character blocking, camera positioning and animate camera movement.
Provide technical set-up of shots for downstream production departments.
Models the set geometry used to create the matchmove and environment for Animators and Technical Directors. * Lights, renders and composites files with the background to judge the move
Maintains an expert level of knowledge about current developments in matchmove tools for computer graphics, especially in areas that relate to the film industry.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in film, art, communications or related field preferred.
2+ years proven production experience in established VFX facility.
Demonstrable experience in highly technical, dynamic departments is a must.
Must have experience using relevant tracking software such as Boujou, Synth Eyes, and 3d Equalizer.

System Administrator

Description

Join a well-established VFX company as a Systems Administrator for a full-time permanent position. The ideal candidate will be motivated, resolution driven, and have great communication skills. The position is responsible for providing IT support for approximately 130 staff members, resolving technical issues in a timely and efficient manner. The System Administrator will also configure new machines, reset passwords, systems monitoring, internal application support, and resolving other technical issues as they arise. The System Administrator will report directly to the CEO.

Responsibilities

· Administraton of Core Linux system (Hardware / Software)
· General Networking knowledge (routing, VLANS, and diagnostics)
· Technical support and general trouble shooting of in-house applications on all platforms
· Knowledge of network services (NIS, DNS, postfix, DHCP, etc)
· General system administration of account set up with AD and mail server
· Storage administration, SAN, NFS, and SMB (cleanup, rsyncs etc)
· License server administration (flexlm and rlm)
· Firewall and Switch configuration when needed
· General I.T. support and maintenance duties

Job Requirements

· 2+ years experience as a system administrator. Should have a working knowledge
of the Linux/windows/mac OS’s in a production setting.
· Intermediate knowledge with Linux installation and application deployment
· Windows and MacOS application deployment and integration is a plus
· Strong Storage administration preferred (Stornext)
· HP IP and Brocade FC switch configuration, and maintenance
· Knowledge of VoIP and PcoIP Infrastructures preferred
· Experience with relational database applications (mySQL) preferred
· Experience with Nagios and Nagios Reactor, or another monitoring engine
· Some experience in projector and monitor calibration a plus
· Experience working in an Animation / VFX production studio preferred
· Some Video Engineering skills (genlock, HD-SDI, and switching)
· HVAC and Data Center design experience is a definite plus
· Knowledge of VFX software (Maya, Flare, Nuke) preferred
· Tape backup administration and maintenance
· Job entails some nights and weekend hours
