FX TD

Department: TD support

Description

Develop tools for the FX department as required by the guidelines defined by the VFX Supervisor, FX Supervisor and FX Leads.

Prepare scenes for Animation

Provide support and development of tools and procedures to extend and enhance the pipeline.

Main responsibilities

Assist artists with troubleshooting of shots. Issues may include problems with fur, clothing, particle effects, animation, and rendering.
• Support and work with multiple departments, including Modeling, Animation, Lighting, FX, and Research and Development.
• Ensure software development follows studio policies and guidelines.
• Work closely with other Technical Directors, Production Supervisors, VFX Supervisors, and Production Engineering to maintain and further the production pipeline.
• Assist in training and mentoring of other Entry Level and Associate Technical Directors

Qualifications

Production experience in computer animation, visual effects, or game industry.
• Experience with tool integration into existing or new pipelines.
• Experience with 3d Max or Maya or other 3rd Party Animation systems
• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong programming skills. Proficiency in C, C++, Object Oriented Programming, Python and/or Perl desired.
• Extensive knowledge of Maya is necessary
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently or within a group, and work with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional communication skills in dealing with both technical and artistic groups.

Lighting TD

Animation TD

Department: TD support

Description

Scene Debugging

3D Software environment with the animation tools, explaining how does it works to the new animators (3D Software, special tools and our own rig).

Main responsibilities

Make technical testing of the animation character rigs and props, that set up send to the department and report the bugs founded.
• Explain to the animators the use of the characters and props rigs, solving the doubts.
• Test all the tools before their implementation in the animation department.
• Support the animators in the technical area (constraints, tools, etc).
• Configure and prepare the animation movie shots where there must be used again other frames, under the instructions of the Animation Supervisor and the Team Lead.
• Confirm with the animator that the approved frames are the ones in the Shot Gun.
• Reports to the R&D Supervisor.

Qualifications

B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong programming skills. Proficiency in C, C++, Object Oriented Programming, Python and/or Perl desired.
• Extensive knowledge of Maya is necessary

Main responsibilities

Develop and maintain the required Autodesk Maya scripts and plugins following the requirements supplied by the production departments
Design and development of the studio tools framework
Provide support to the production departments in any issues related to interaction with Autodesk Maya
Write technical and user documentation related to developed technologies and usage
Keeping up-to-date with relevant updates from production technologies

Qualifications

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Previous Maya plugins development experience preferred
Good understanding of production pipelines preferred
Solid understanding of software design and architecture
Proven experience coding in C++ and/or Python
Communication skills

Matte Artist

Department: Matte

Description

Working with the Art Director, Modeling Supervisor, Lighting Supervisor and Production Designer, to create 2D background mattes or projection artwork for geometry / paintings / plates for a 3D animated feature film

Main responsibilities

• To create the 2D painted backgrounds required to complete any 3D environments, sets or scenes on the film, while working with the design and modeling departments .
• To troubleshoot and use talents to create visually stunning backgrounds which match and marry to the film’s style and 3D requirements, using direction giving by the Art Director and Production Designer.
• Introduce innovative ideas through his/her work creating matte paintings for the production, which work with the film’s goals, and in 3D animation.

Qualifications

• Experience of 2 or more years in animation film, as matte painter.
• Basic computer literacy, extensive skills in Photoshop.
• Knowledge of 3D software.
• Painting (photorealism).
• Strong skills in painting, drawing, composition, color matching.
• Ability to create matte paintings stylistically and / or photo realistically using 2D and 3D applications.
• Ability to integrate illustration with existing 3D environments.
