POSITION PURPOSE

The Lighter is responsible for delivering high quality shots in a quick and efficient manner. They will apply notes provided by the Lighting Supervisors/Leads. They will manage their time effectively to ensure tasks are completed within the assigned timeframe and to the specifications requested by Image Engine clients. The will take on shots in varying levels of complexity. They will identify and troubleshoot problems as needed and will ask for assistance when necessary to ensure effective use of time and resources.

They will begin quality checking their own work and assisting Senior artists to develop new concepts and approaches to improve work quality. They will participate in all team meetings when necessary.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Apply client notes to all lighting shots with minimal guidance
Communicate successes and challenges faced by the team to the Lighting Supervisor
Take direction from the Lighting Supervisor to help realize the vision of the shots through the lighting team
Work with Composting team members to achieve high quality complex composites
Ensure continuity is upheld across shots and sequences
Light multiple types of shot ensuring consistency in lighting, colour balance and mood between the various elements of the shot or scene
Manage time and resources to meet weekly targets
Promote interdepartmental collaboration

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

3+ years’ experience in Lighting digital VFX for film or commercials
Good understanding of photography and film, and how the interactions of light, lenses and film emulsions go to make up the image
Thorough understanding of a linear color-space workflow
Excellent attention to detail when finalizing, approving or quality controlling shots
Ability to balance quick turnaround while achieving a high degree of aesthetic quality

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Technical skills

Thorough understanding of PRMan or a RenderMan compliant renderer like 3Delight
Some scripting ability in MEL and python is an asset
Have a full understanding of the shader structure (not at scripting level), arbitrary outputs, and PTC systems
Ability to demonstrate photo-real shots/sequences created with your own light rigs and setups

Animate character/non-character assets with increasing levels of difficulty

They will be complete both rotoscoping and/or paint work as assigned based on studio needs. The Senior Look Development Artist is responsible for delivering high quality assets in a quick and efficient manner. They will act as an example to and mentor junior artists and will deliver all tasks within the required timeframe. They will have practical experience in all areas of Look Development. Senior Look Dev artists will be able to apply briefing notes with minimal direction from team Leads or Supervisors. They will quality check all of their work and occasionally will assist the Leads to quality check the work of junior artists should the workload require it. Senior Look Dev artists will be complete all aspects of look development work on assets across multiple shows, and create high quality assets at varying levels of difficulty.

In addition, Senior Look Dev artists will assist the Leads and Asset Supervisor to flag issues, quality checks their work and occasionally they work of others. They will potentially assist in the Lead role on a short term basis in the event of an absence or production needs require it. They will participate in team meetings when necessary.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create final look developed assets with minimal supervision and within the studio pipeline
Apply client notes to all assets with minimal guidance
Identify solutions and approaches to solve difficult assets without guidance

The Senior Matte Painter will take the initiative to resolve technical and creative issues while executing shots at a high level of difficulty. POSITION PURPOSE

The FX Supervisor will take ownership of the FX department as well as FX completed for all IE shows. They will be responsible for the smooth operation of the department in order to support various shows. Supervisors will facilitate communication amongst FX Leads to develop consistent solutions across shows. They will advise on FX best practices and will provide guidance to Junior artists to find creative and technical solutions based on show needs.

The FX Supervisor acts as the go to person for production regarding any questions related to FX work; both ongoing and upcoming. They will advise production regarding issues concerning bids, current status, and complexity. In addition they will provide production with anticipated completion times for tasks to assist with scheduling.

The Supervisor will guide the overall operation and improvement of the FX TD team by defining the overall vision for current and future technical abilities and setting/maintaining department standards. This will include, actively driving the in various conversations with department heads, R&D and CG sups, to integrate solutions and FX for the whole pipeline. In addition, the Supervisor will develop new processes and stay up to date on innovative technologies to keep the FX TD team on the cutting edge.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interview, select and train artists
Engage in the performance management process such as performance reviews, daily feedback, and mentoring
Review scope of work and assign tasks based on artist skills/abilities
Manage workflow to balance production schedule and employee resources
Communicate artist surplus or deficits to ensure profit and loss margins are maximized
Communicate successes and challenges faced by the team to Production Managers/Coordinators
Play a key role in improving the FX pipeline, providing clear leadership and vision
Responsible for the integration of FX into the show pipeline
Oversee the creation of, building and maintaining of photo-real FX rigs of varying complexity, pushing the capabilities of FX at Image Engine
Work closely with R&D to spec new tools, facilitate testing, integration and provide timely input for ongoing development projects
Create technical prototypes for proposed FX tools in order to demonstrate desired workflows to R&D prior to full C++ implementation

Experience with other FX packages and solvers (Naiad, Realflow, Thinking Particles, Fume, Nucleus etc.) a plus

POSITION PURPOSE

The Coordinator position is a critical role in the workflow process for show delivery. The Coordinator will complete a full schedule for show completion. They will be prepared to flag concerns or issues to the Project Manager and/or Department Supervisor which may delay workflow or shot delivery. They will promote interdepartmental communication to move information from one department to expedite completion. The will be on the pulse of all shots within their department and be able to communicate status reports to the Project Manager when required.

Coordinators will begin to understand that impact issues within in the pipeline and can anticipate workflow problems which may slow delivery.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure the highest productivity of the artists
Use time management skills to schedule meetings and tasks effectively
Organize internal dailies and client shot review sessions
Take and distribute detailed meeting notes

They will guide junior artists through the workflow process within the department to explain how their work connects to other departments.

Senior FX TDs will proactively seek solutions with FX Leads and members of other departments. They will communicate with other departments, ensuring they receive data to resolve shot related issues. Senior FX TDs will work with their Supervisor and Leads to implement technical and creative solutions to shows. They may be required to balance multiple shows and communicate with other Leads/artists that are assigned to the show to ensure continuity.

They will potentially assist in the Lead role on a short term basis in the event of an absence or production needs require it. They will participate in team meetings when necessary.

The Senior Animator is responsible for delivering high quality animation in a quick and efficient manner. They will act as an example to and mentor junior artists and will deliver all tasks within the required timeframe. They will be responsible for taking on the lion share of the difficult shots and will assist junior artists complete their work should the level of difficulty require it. Senior Animators will be able to apply briefing notes with minimal direction from team Leads or Supervisors. They will quality check all of their work and occasionally will assist the Leads to quality check the work of junior artists should the Lead need assistance.

In addition, Senior Animator will help the Leads and Asset Supervisor to flag issues. They will potentially assist in the Lead role on a short term basis in the event of an absence or if production needs require it. They will participate in team meetings when necessary. They will maintain a positive attitude in times of high stress and will maintain motivation levels in the event of multiple iterations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work primarily with Animation Supervisor/Leads to create convincing performances and motion of character/non-character assets
Animate character/non-character assets from simple to difficult with a minimum of supervision
Work with production and supervisor team to understand and manage schedules and shot deadlines
Work with animation team to maintain continuity and consistent performance within a show
Communicate successes and challenges faced by the team to the Animation Supervisor
Manage time and resources to meet weekly targets
Complete all quality control for animation submitted for review for artistic problems (e.g. bad poses, character being off model, crashing, etc.) prior to Animation Supervisor’s review

They will exhibit a positive/calm demeanor and maintain morale levels during peak production periods. They will quality check all of their work and occasionally will assist the Leads to quality check the work of junior artists should the workload require it. They will maintain clarity and focus during peak periods to ensue show delivery.

In addition, Senior Lighters will assist the Leads and Lighting Supervisor to flag issues. They will potentially assist in the Lead role on a short term basis in the event of an absence or production needs require it. They will participate in team meetings when necessary.

They will quality check all of their work and occasionally will assist the Matchmove Leads to quality check the work of junior artists should the workload require it. The will work closely with Leads to communicate issues and recommend solutions.

Senior Match Move artists will have a thorough knowledge base of the tools and software required to execute high quality shots. They will have a strong understanding of geometry and be able to apply them in the appropriate environment to achieve desired results.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Apply client notes to all plates with minimal guidance
Identify solutions and approaches to solve difficult shots without guidance
Communicate successes and challenges faced by the team to the Matchmove Leads
Assist with outsourcing including packaging shots for FTP and QC
Utilize background plates to obtain camera and object motion in plate photography. This may include animating live action characters or relative object in the scene(rotomation)
Model stand-in Matchmove geometry used by Animators and Technical Directors
Does basic composites of the files with the background to judge the camera and object solves
Maintain continuity between shots, and troubleshoot problem shots
Setup the technical and aesthetic approaches of the Matchmove work for a shot, sequence, or an entire aspect of a show under the direction of the project Supervisors
Provide support to junior Matchmovers

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

4-5 years’ experience with a high-level film-based camera tracking
Must have experience with 3D Equalizer
Fully understands an iteration intensive shot pipeline
Experience with Lidar, Total station data and survey a plus

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Technical skills

Strong understanding of on-set photography and film and how various camera rigs create camera movement in live action plates
Strong knowledge of Maya is required
Knowledge of PF Track is an asset
Ability to script in MEL and Python is an asset
Experience with Nuke is an asset

Core skills

Ability to troubleshoot and deal with competing priorities
Ability to work on a project specific basis based on project workflow
Excellent time management and communication skills
Eye for detail

POSITION PURPOSE

The Coordinator position is a critical role in the workflow process for show delivery. The Coordinator will complete a full schedule for show completion. They will be prepared to flag concerns or issues to the Project Manager and/or Department Supervisor which may delay workflow or shot delivery. They will promote interdepartmental communication to move information from one department to expedite completion. The will be on the pulse of all shots within their department and be able to communicate status reports to the Project Manager when required.

Coordinators will begin to understand that impact issues within in the pipeline and can anticipate workflow problems which may slow delivery.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure the highest productivity of the artists
Use time management skills to schedule meetings and tasks effectively
Organize internal dailies and client shot review sessions
Take and distribute detailed meeting notes
Work with Producer and Supervisors (in some cases Production Manager) to adhere to schedules and keep schedules on track
Track the status of all shots in the pipeline, maintaining an accurate and up-to-date database
Communicate successes and challenges faced by the team to the Production Manager
Ensure artists have the information and materials required to complete their work efficiently
Facilitate communication between all departments
Ensure all email correspondence and scheduling is up to date, responding to emails in a timely manner
Work with the Supervisors and artists to manage render priorities

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

2+ years’ experience or 2-3 completed shows coordinating feature film/TV
Must be extremely knowledgeable in database management. Past Shotgun experience is a plus
Proven experience identifying and providing solutions to production issues

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Technical skills

Expert level MS Excel skills
MS Project and Filemaker knowledge is an asset
Shotgun experience is an asset

POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Pipeline TD essentially provides a first line of support for a show. It could span from production matters to color profiles configurations and back again. You will write tools for all the departments including Assets, Animation, BG Prep, Effects and Lighting.

The Senior Pipeline TD use their exceptional communication skills to listen to artists, coordinators, and producers challenges and either educate them with an existing solution or translate and implement their struggle into a specific tool which enables them to coordinate and execute show requirements effectively.

Senior Pipeline TDs are the primary point of contact for shows like the emergency staff in a hospital but they are supported by the entire software group in their undertakings of course. You are not alone!

Senior Pipeline TDs contribute to the overall operation and improvement of the Facility Pipeline. This will include but will not be limited to engaging in cross-department communication, flagging/providing solutions to critical path issues, and creating documentation. In addition, they help develop new process and innovative solutions to bring Image Engine artistry to the next level.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Determine the broad technical and creative approach, in conjunction with the Head of Technical Production or Pipeline Lead
Provide support to the VFX departments and to the Productions in the smooth running of tasks through our pipeline
Build and maintain elements of the pipeline with an emphasis on optimizing the flow of our processes
Create facility-based or show-based scripts and tools
Communicate successes and challenges faced by the team to the Head of Technical Production or Pipeline Lead
Provide support for artists in learning and using the pipeline
Be an additional point of support for shot based issues, alongside leads and supervisors
Act as a liaison for communicating technical issues to IT or R&D
Use time management skills to schedule tasks effectively

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

4+ years’ experience as a Pipeline TD
A degree or equivalent in Computer Graphics, Computer Science or other related course
Ability to balance quick turnaround while achieving a high degree of technical quality

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Technical skills

Considerable experience of Python and shell scripting is required. C or C++ is a plus
Pro-active, very meticulous and accurate in your coding
Experience with Linux is required
Knowledge of Maya, Nuke, Houdini, and/or Shotgun is a plus
Experience building software (SConstruct, CMake) is a plus

Core skills

Ability to monitor and identify potential inefficiencies in a production pipeline
Ability to troubleshoot and deal with competing priorities and projects
Ability to take direction and feedback from a supervisor or a peer
Team oriented with good communication skills, able to work closely with artists
Ability to work in a high pressure environment
Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and applications
