Position Purpose

The Initial Focus Of The Technical Writer Will Be To Interview The Various Teams Within The Studio, Learn The Tools And Workflows Of Each Department, And Document These For Continuous Training Of Staff And Onboarding Of New Employees. The Technical Writer Will Also Be Responsible For Reviewing And Maintaining Existing Documentation As Workflows Evolve Throughout The Studio.

You Will Work Closely With The Software Teams To Document New Tools In-sync With Software Release Schedules, And You Will Lead Or Assist In Demonstrations Of How These Tools Fit Into The Workflows Of The Production Teams. You Will Coordinate With The Software Teams To Ensure Both The Tools And The Documentation Emphasize The Preferred Facility Workflows And Discourage Legacy/deprecated Workflows.

Duties & Responsibilities

Creation, Organization, Management, Preservation And Promotion Of The Effective Use Of Information Relating To Studio Software Tools And Vfx Production Workflows
Development And Maintenance Of Written And Interactive Training Materials & Documentation
Identifying And Evaluating Training Needs For Each Department In The Studio
Working With Experts In Each Discipline To Deliver Core Training Programs
Supporting Crew With Internal ‘user-group’ Type Presentations

Education And Experience

A Degree In Library & Information Studies, Technical Writing / Communication, Or An Equivalent Combination Of Education, Training, And Experience.
A Degree In Computer Science Or Computer Graphics A Plus.
Experience Developing Vfx Training Curriculums A Plus.

Technical Skills

Expert At Preparing And Presenting Written, Visual, And Interactive Documentation
Knowledge Of Markdown / Wiki A Plus
Experience Working With Software Such As Maya & Houdini A Plus
