Collaborate with dev team to advance the state of real-time rendered immersive experiences, striving for highest possible visual fidelity as well as artistically innovative and compelling performances.
Work closely with the creative leads to produce captivating, story-driven and action-packed or dramatic moments that fit within the style and pacing of the title.
Deliver blocking animatics and quick draft animations for proof of concepts
Establish a good understanding of the existing tools and pipelines; experiment / champion opportunities for improvement.
Help define and act as a key customer for new technology investments and pipeline development..
Collaborate in development of breakdowns, task lists, estimates, schedules, milestones and overall project goals as necessary. Monitor progress of animation deliverables.
Prep or assist in mo-cap shooting sessions (casting, choreography, motion list, direction, etc.)
7+ years’ experience animating characters – in 3D game development – with multiple titles shipped.
Deep experience and understanding of creating and editing animation graph / node systems for game engines.
Maya & FBX: in-depth knowledge, experience with
Experienced in the development of storytelling driven by character performances that utilize realistic character animation
Adaptable, willing to learn new processes and technical skills with an enthusiasm for new ideas, tools and platforms.
Flexible and willing to accept direction, input from others.
Experience or interest in the creation of VR & AR experiences
Passion for playing and making games
VFX animation (shot production) / pipeline experience
Unreal: extensive experience working with animation tool sets in UE 3 or 4.
MFA or equivalent experience
Additional animation software experience (ex: Houdini) would be considered a plus
A portfolio/reel submission is required. It should demonstrate:
Exceptional artistic sensibilities in human & animal locomotion, storytelling through the personality of expressive gesture, timing and character development.
Examples of game-ready animations combining layered blending, overlays, IK and other run-time systems.
Examples of keyframed performance to narrative, for body, facial and lip-synch in both human and stylized forms.
Strong experience in mo-cap editing, from source data through to complete, final motion for both full body and facial.
Additional relevant examples of animal or quadruped motion, mechanical and rigid body motion, visual effects and use of secondary motion simulation / solutions.

The Lead Generalist Artist leads the team in the development of the highest quality of art work for film. Successful candidates will display a high degree of proficiency in some and a varied skill level across most of the areas of model, texture, shading/look development, basic hard surface animation and FX simulation as well as the ability to composite their own work. The 3D Generalist will work both individually and within a team, with tasks ranging from completing everything on a small number of shots to working on specific tasks within a larger body of work. The art team is comprised of animation, environments, character creation, visual effects and user interface and works directly with the Design and Engineering team. The Lead artist will work with the Art Director and Design Leads to drive the art team to follow the creative vision.
Collaborate with the Art Director to lead the creation of consistent, high-quality art work
Help to break down workload, manage complete art team
Drive the team to meet project deadlines and milestones
Regularly reviews, provides feedback and approves all art content
Facilitate and manage all art team communication both internal and external
Identify and anticipate artistic problems and communicate solutions to the appropriate project managers
Ensure adequate pre-production and testing of new concepts/techniques is complete prior to production of title.
Identify problems that can be addressed visually and provide solutions.
Create and assist with management of project schedules and resource planning.
Conduct critiques with clear and consistent direction to the art team.
Demonstrate a high level of creativity and originality in treatments of licensed IP and licensor style guides without violating license issues, or create style guides if none exist.
Responsible for mentoring, training, career direction and performance evaluations for the Art teams.
Experience with various levels of leading teams.
Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct large visual effects films that ship on-time, which includes providing consistent and clear direction for large art teams.
Must demonstrate an ability to present to and manage their teams well, providing inspirational leadership and mentoring to artists at all levels.
Capable of identifying and recommending needs for art-specific tools to enhance or control visual aspects of film.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate difficult and creative concepts in a clear and concise manner; capable of writing design documentation defining needs.
Excellent presentation skills.
Strong understanding of how the art pipeline works, both technically and managerially, and how to create/modify and monitor it.
Advanced understanding of several 2D and 3D software packages.
Follow the vision and provide clear direction for artists while maintaining a high level of quality and consistency.
Contribute innovative and original ideas towards all aspects of film production.
Set an example for all team members by regularly demonstrating strong work ethics, quality of work, teamwork, motivation, and solid leadership
Must have excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
A strong working knowledge of the processes and pipelines of Engineering and Design.
