Assistant Management Accountant

Job Description

Company: Industrial Light & Magic UK

Assists the Senior Accountant in performing a range of accounting functions for the UK studio such as assisting with preparation of the monthly management account, accounts payable procedures, payroll and labour allocations, assisting with the reporting to ILM in San Francisco, Disney and the London studio management team as well as other general accounting tasks.

Finance and Accounting:

• Month End Accruals.
• Coding/Input & Analysis of expenditure.
• Assist with government grant reporting.
• Assist with Cashflow reporting
• Assisting non finance staff with internal finance procedures e.g. Expense forms.
• Assisting with VAT Returns
• Assisting with quarterly forecasting

Payroll/Labour Allocations:

• Assisting with Monthly Payroll journals and reconciliations
• Making sure that weekly time management is done for all members of staff and that costs are correctly allocated to projects.
• Assist with analysis of projects.
• Making sure that all Holiday and toil taken is correctly accrued for.


• AP payments will be processed out of our US location, however the assistant management account will be needed to make sure that AP have all the information they need to process invoices and payment.

Petty Cash and Credit Card:

• Reconciliation and cost allocation for Petty Cash and Credit Card.



• Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline
• Part-Qualified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent preferred
• Previous commercial accounting experience
• Experience dealing with payroll related costs

Required Skills/Competencies:

• Maintains high levels of accuracy and attention to detail when under pressure
• Ability to prioritise and effectively manage a fluctuating workload
• High degree of common sense and practicality
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong team player demonstrating a positive and ‘can do’ attitude to work
• High levels of self-motivation and ability to work effectively without constant supervision
• An ability to manage upwards

Preferred Skills/Competencies:

• Experience of working within a US organisation beneficial

Technical Skills:

• Advanced Excel knowledge (will be tested)
• Knowledge of SAP and Oracle beneficial

The Executive Assistant supports the office of EVP, Production by providing excellent administrative support and customer service in a fast paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage the EVP, Production’s calendar, email, voicemail, mail and company-wide communication, keeping all apprised of changes, action items, messages and relevant business issues both internal and external.
• Screen and prioritize all incoming phone calls, email, mail and/or meeting requests, obtaining all key information, and make appropriate recommendations regarding action and follow-up.
• Assist with all general administrative functions such as expense report processing, mailings, faxing, filing, and material routing.
• Arrange, confirm and communicate all travel.
• Able to communicate with all levels of executive, management and staff including high-level entertainment industry clients and creatives, vendors and staff.
• Errands for business reasons as needed and appropriate.
• Assist with company events as needed.
• Errands for business reasons as needed and appropriate.
• Manage special projects as needed.



• Bachelor’s degree in business, film production or related
• 1- 3 years’ experience in development, production, agency, studio operations or entertainment environment
• 1 – 3 years Administrative Assistant experience

• Flexible in the ever-changing environment.
• Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
