The CG Production Talent Manager develops and oversees the day-to-day schedules for the digital artists, under the direction of the Director of Studio – Vancouver. They also work closely with Producers and others as appropriate to schedule personnel to ensure proper casting as well as timely and efficient completion of productions. In addition, the Talent Manager is responsible for career development and performance feedback and coaching to help ILM artists grow and develop.

• Manages multiple groups of artists at once, and as needed, fills in for and provides support to other Managers out on vacation, leave or at Show Start Up.
• Determines and projects current and future project based personnel needs based on input from
Portfolio Group and Production. This includes maintaining contact with Producers regarding overall crew size requirements, crew start and end dates and show start/delivery dates as well as
incorporating bidding data into facility projections. Flags potential problems in regards to any of these.
• Maintains overview of utilization using established departmental production management and
tracking systems.
• Participates in regular status meetings with Show leadership to determine upcoming crewing needs.
• Maintains overall and show-specific schedule for digital artists. Creates and maintains scheduling
overviews and availability schedules upon request.
• Facilitates End of Show Employee performance review process. Gives timely, actionable and constructive feedback as needed to help Digital Artists grow and improve to achieve specific
objectives or to meet long term career goals.
• Works collaboratively with Director of Studio – Vancouver, Human Resources (recruitment) to define and communicate ongoing recruitment requirements.
• Works collaboratively with Recruitment to draft and propose new hire offers (salary) to be
approved by Director of Studio, Vancouver.
• Facilitates the approval process for time off requests, which includes interacting and coordinating with employees, producers and management to avoid impacting production schedules.
• Facilitates End of Year Employee performance review process. Gives timely, actionable and
constructive feedback as needed to help Digital Artists grow and improve to achieve specific objectives or to meet long term career goals.
• In collaboration with the Director of Studio, Production Management and Human Resources,
contributes towards plan for yearly merit increases and employment agreements.
• In collaboration with Director of Studio and Finance Manager, strategize, track and manage studio CG OH budget across all disciplines and talent.
• Represent Vancouver on a global talent management stage – working in partnership with Talent
Managers in all ILM locations to ensure maximum utilization, strategic planning and global talent management best practices are followed.
• May participate or be responsible for other duties and special projects, as assigned.


• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Film Production or related field, plus a minimum four years’ experience in a high-end computer graphics production environment.
• Prior experience in an on-show production environment with proven ability to effectively facilitate
scheduling of artists and other personnel to meet production needs and schedules.
• Understanding of computer graphics terminology and a thorough understanding of the processes involved in CG post production.
• Strong, collaborative and open communication is essential.
• Proven analytical skills, the ability to multitask and effective scheduling skills required
• Must be able to work effectively and quickly to turn around timely reports and analysis as needed.
• Excellent administrative, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills (written and oral).
• Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with groups of individuals with different personalities,
perspectives and talents.
• The role may require weekend work depending on show schedules
• The role may also require travel.

Pipeline Technical Director – Level 1

The Pipeline TD is responsible for developing and maintaining software tools, providing front-line support to artists, and general troubleshooting of the CG pipeline in a fast-paced, feature film visual effects production environment. The primary focus is ensuring artist efficiency. Receives day-to-day direction and priorities from show CG Supervisor; reports to R&D supervisor for technical and career guidance.
Develop pipeline and asset management tools to meet immediate, show-directed production demands, ensuring facility-wide consistency as directed by show and technical supervisors. Help maintain a wide array of existing workflows and scripts. –
Provide front-line production support across a wide range of disciplines, troubleshoot assets and shots, and help artists with general problem-solving. Monitor email requests, package up problems and redirect to appropriate engineering team.
Test and validate tools and techniques in production. Work closely with engineering teams in testing, and releasing new and modified software systems.
Act as an on-call resource for show production staff.
Collaborate effectively with artists, production supervisors, and technical staff across ILM studios in San Francisco, Vancouver, Singapore, and London.
When not crewed to shows, serve on software teams working on projects that improve the efficiency of asset setup, caching, and shot-data handoff between artists across the entire pipeline.
Take direction from show supervisors to determine day-to-day and hour-to-hour priorities.
Work primarily on tools of moderate complexity, requiring general understanding of the larger pipeline.
Provide front-line support and gather information about artist problems and obstacles; resolve complex user errors; connect artists with deeper problems to appropriate technical support.
Develop broad knowledge of software, systems, and standards and conventions used in production.
Update documentation for the pipeline and tools to reflect any changes that are made.



• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining tools for use in computer graphics.
• At least 2 years production experience in visual effects for film, commercials or television.

Required Skills/Competencies:

• Proficiency in Linux
• Strong Python scripting required
• Experience in one or more of Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Mari, Katana, 3d DCC Packages (3dsmax or Nuke) RenderMan or similar.
• Experience with revision control systems and defined coding standards
• Ability to communicate cross-discipline and provide innovative solutions to pipeline issues.
• Detail oriented and strong self-sufficient trouble shooter.
• Good understanding of the entire visual effects process, from shooting to modeling and texturing, animation, rendering and compositing

Preferred Skills/Competencies:

• Experience with production database systems
• Experience with C, C++
• Working knowledge of Maya, 3dsmax, Nuke, and asset management systems.

• Understands and enforces the content and brand strategies across all platforms to ensure franchise alignment throughout Lucasfilm and the larger Walt Disney Company. Entails partnering with Lucasfilm and Disney executive leadership in all aspects of story concept approval and strategy development.
• Partners with the SVP, Development in the administration, management, and mentorship of the Story Group.
• Provides creative input, feedback, and support to all members of the Story Group and ILMxLab on storytelling projects across all platforms and presents
• Partners with Business Affairs during negotiation of writer and director deals, as required.


Required Skills:

• 12 to 15 years of development experience in the entertainment industry
• BA/BS degree in a related field; Masters degree or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
• Relevant contacts within film and entertainment industries.
• Proven track record of identifying and delivering commercially viable projects.
• Strong negotiation, presentation, and analytical skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize and multi-task.
• Well-organized and good at creating workflows and systems.
• Significant travel may be required.
