Job Description

With an emphasis on anatomy and form, the creature modeler will create three dimensional CG characters to be painted, enveloped and animated by the creature development team.


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Creates three-dimensional creatures for the Animator and Technical Director. Employs specific software tools to build the geometric structure of the object and ensures that the model will satisfy the requirements of the production.
2. In building creatures, the modeler must incorporate technical expertise, artistic ability, and a basic understanding of animation.
3. Works with production team (Sr. Modeler, Technical Directors and Animators) to determine the “look” for an object.
4. Builds the geometry of computer graphic models, with an understanding of how the geometry will be used in the production process.
5. Performs other tasks related to the creation of computer-generated animation.

Education, Experience and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts or equivalent with a thorough understanding of anatomy, character design and animation.
• Portfolio demonstrating traditional artistic skills including illustration, and sculptural abilities a plus.
• Proven experience creating digital creatures or characters in a feature film or production environment.
• Requires familiarity with film and video post production techniques and with computer graphic techniques.
• 2-3 years Zbrush, Maya, and facial development experience and/or a demonstrated desire to develop computer skills. Knowledge of UNIX is a necessity as to navigate through ILM’s production pipeline.

Physical Requirements:

• Uses computer keyboard 95% of the time.

We’re looking for an Interim HR and Operations Manager to cover 6-9months maternity leave from November. With responsibility for managing the HR, Recruitment and Facilities teams the role is hugely diverse involving the individual in all manner of challenging and interesting activities, be it managing the interior design of a new workspace, managing a tender process for a new supplier, managing a complex employee relations situation, or working with the Executive in Charge (EIC) to develop new people strategies for the studio.


HR responsibilities include:

• Working closely with ILM’s and Lucasfilm’s HR teams across the globe and with HR colleagues at our parent company, Disney.
• With the London studio still evolving, you will be involved in the ongoing set up of the London HR and Recruitment functions
• Formulating / implementing policy and procedure, guiding the implementation of new workflows and systems as well as adopting existing strategies and guiding their development to suit the UK context.
• Specific projects that you will be involved with during the contract period will be implementing HR software for improved absence management,
• Implementing a grant-funded training programme across the London studio,
• Working within a global project team to develop strategy for university outreach,
• Undertaking a review of current benefits and making recommendations, and
• Working with the EIC to further develop employer brand and culture.

Operations responsibilities include:

• Managing the Facilities team in the delivery of specific projects, notably interior design of workspace.
• Working with Facilities to source new flexible workspace and managing moves.
• Managing the organisation of key social events as well as an array of other activities to ensure the smooth day to day running of the studio.

Required Skills/Experience

• A proven background in HR with the flexibility to be involved in a wider range of activities.
• Suitable candidates will equally demonstrate pragmatism, creativity, as well as an ability to deal with the detail.
• Proven ability to multi-task juggling an array of diverse projects and priorities.
• Significant people management experience and adept at getting the best out of their team.
• Comfortable with working at pace and in an environment with ever evolving priorities.
• Demonstrable track record of being able to deliver to tight project and budget deadlines.
• Experience of working within in US company alongside numerous stakeholders would be hugely advantageous, as would being CIPD qualified and having experience of SAP.
