Description

Creating art for modern video games is a demanding mix of technology, passion, and a lot of experience. There is no substitute for time in the seat crafting and learning what it takes to make the work demanded by today’s top titles. Teams need leaders who know this first hand. Are you ready to lead our teams to meet these challenges?

We are seeking to fill an immediate Art Director position. Applicants must be able to work on-site at Liquid Development, located in Portland, Oregon. As an Art Director, you will have the opportunity to leave your mark on multiple projects each year. These projects range from Triple-A, next-generation console titles, to fantastically fun and popular social and mobile games. Liquid Development offers a fun and cooperative work atmosphere, where collaboration is encouraged among the diversely talented team to remain on the cutting edge of content creation.

Here is a brief list of responsibilities and requirements for an Art Director at Liquid Development:

Strong game production work experience showcasing top quality work.
Manage projects and artists to ensure milestones are completed on time, to budget, and to spec.
Ability to create budget and time estimations for asset production.
Define and communicate the key components of the project style and design.
Ability to lead teams of artists by instruction and example.
Define technical specifications and QA process for projects.
Expert understanding of industry standard techniques and tools.
Enthusiasm to expand knowledge in keeping with industry evolution.

Pluses:

Ability to work in multiple software packages and game engines (i.e. 3DS Max, Maya, Zbrush, Unreal, Unity).
Experience managing external artists.
Strong traditional artwork in portfolio.
Understanding of physically based rendering techniques.

Character Clothing Artist

Description

Have a passion for creating clothing for video game characters? Liquid Development is looking for character artists that specialize in creating realistic clothing for characters in Marvelous Designer. You will work as a key member of our art team creating high quality realistic character outfits. This position requires a keen eye for detail as well as a strong sense of design mixed with video game art production methods. We are looking to hire for internal positions but are willing to work with remote positions.

Here is a brief list of responsibilities and requirements:

Proficiency in using Marvelous Designer is a must
Strong character portfolio with an emphasis on clothing

Experience with at least one of the following programs:

3DS Max
Maya
Zbrush
2 + years in game character modeling
Self-motivation, good communications skills, and a great team-player attitude
Ability to adapt to a variety of visual styles common in game production

Hard Surface Modeler

Here is a brief list of responsibilities and requirements for a Hard Surface Modeler at Liquid Development:
Create high poly and game-resolution models in 3DS Max or Maya, complete with next-generation materials and shaders.
Ensure that every asset meets the quality expected, both from an aesthetic and technical perspective.

Technical Rigger

Description

Do you love the challenge of creating complex facial rigs for characters? Liquid Development is looking for a technical rigger to develop and maintain pipelines and tools for rigging and skinning characters in Maya. You will work as a key member of our animation team creating high quality rigs for animators. We are looking to hire for internal positions but are willing to work with remote positions.

Here is a brief list of responsibilities and requirements:

Rigging and skinning of characters and props in Maya.
Develop and maintain pipelines, tools.
MEL / Python scripting in Maya
Working closely with the Animation Director to ensure QA and problem solve as needed.

Preferable Candidate has:

2+ years of experience working on the technical side of rigging / animation in games
Experience in Maya scripting
Extensive rigging experience using Maya
Artistic eye for proper skin deformation
Experience integrating assets into Unity / Unreal
Some familiarity with 3DS Max and Motion Builder
