Lucasfilm Animation and creators of the Emmy award winning animation series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and the highly successful animation series “Star Wars: Rebels” are looking for a versatile Associate Editor to join their production team.

The Associate Editor works closely with Story Editors, the Supervising Director, Executive Producer, Sr. Post Production Manager, Assistant Editors, and Production team on an Animated Television Series production.

The Associate Editor is responsible for supporting the Story Editors by assembling and maintaining the episodes including locating missing shots and/or audio. The Associate Editor is responsible for aiding the Assistant Editors with the ingestion of dailies (story through final) and communicating errors and discrepancies to the Assistants. This role will also be responsible for temporary sound and/or music editing and may also run Episodic Director reviews if the Story Editors are unavailable.

Responsibilities

Assist Story Editors to establish work procedures to ensure optimal functionality and performance for the cutting room.
Pull, cut, and conform all temp sound effects under creative direction of Director and Editors.
Support Daily duties from various disciplines when needed, such as Animation, Lighting & FX through Post.
Temp Sound FX, especially during Full Color reviews.
When Editors are unavailable, lead editorial sessions and sweatbox.
Communicate and prepare turnovers to various recipients.
Screening and Mix duties, and screening preparation.
Work to ensure sound quality is at the highest quality for all screenings.
Collaborate with Executive Producer and Sr. Post Production Manager on editorial needs.
Assist with Post Production follow-up when needed.
Assist with special editorial projects and presentations, home entertainment included, upon request.
Provide mentoring and training to editorial team.

Preferred Qualifications

Required Skills/Competencies:

4 years experience in a TV/Feature Editorial Capacity
2 years Editorial experience in Animated TV/Films
Advance technical knowledge of AVID Media Composer
Understanding of Animation pre-production, production and post production processes

Preferred Skills/Competencies:

After Effects
Photoshop
Filemaker Pro or database experience
Presentation knowledge a plus

Technical Skills:

Avid Media/Film Composer
Smoke, or high-resolution conforming knowledge a plus
DI and mastering knowledge a plus
Python a plus
Linux a plus

Preferred Education

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Digital Media, related field, or equivalent work experience

Lucasfilm Animation and creators of the Emmy award winning animation series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and the highly successful animation series “Star Wars: Rebels” are looking for a versatile Episodic Director to join their production team.

The Director, Episodic works closely with all levels of creative production in tandem with the Supervising Director, to bring the script to life on our animated television series. The ideal candidate is expected to balance managing all the various aspects of production, while successfully maintaining the highest quality of technical and creative storytelling possible for their respective episodes.

Responsibilities

Effectively manage a team of 3D Storyboard Artists in the creation of each animatic, while successfully communicating story needs, both verbally and visually thru sketches.
Interpret the script visually through organizing and it breaking down into particular scenes and planning out shots and specific actions within determined locations and settings.
In collaboration with Editorial, craft and build the episode using a strong sense of timing and knowledge of film.
Ensure that each of the assigned episodes are completed on time and successfully meet the quality standards of the Supervising Director.

Preferred Qualifications

Required Skills/Competencies:

Must be a demonstrated, natural, story-teller with strong visual sensibilities.
Proven ability to work effectively with all levels of production crew, artistic staff, and management.
Prior experience in both 2D and 3D storyboarding is required.
Ability to establish priorities and multi-task efficiently within a high pressure environment while meeting strict deadlines.
Exceptional working knowledge of animation and post-production techniques and terminology.
Strong organizational, project management and leadership skills.
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal).

Required Education

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in animation, film, art or related field.
10+ years of industry experience, preferably in animation; Prior directorial experience required.
