Job Description

We’re on a mission: building the future. We’re working in this crazy-fun, hybridized fusion of entertainment where exceptionally high-end (previously pre-rendered) VFX meets interactive, immersive stories. That spectacular mash-up results in unparalleled real-time worlds where we endeavor to raise the bar for experiences and visuals as high as we possibly can. As if making compelling movies and games wasn’t hard enough in isolation! Don’t get us wrong, we’re not complaining about the challenges. That’s literally why we come to work: It is our great fortune to be standing at the crossroads – unconstrained by a specific title or universe – in a collaborative, highly creative and highly technical work environment. If that sounds interesting, jump in. We still believe in picking up hitchhikers.
Our team is growing. We are looking for talented, driven creative technologists to help design and build the next generation of immersive stories. Have a look at the description below. If it sounds like you, send us your stuff!

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with project design and technical staff in a fast-paced, iterative development environment.
Conspire frequently with Gameplay Programmer(s) on the optimal design, build, and scripting of levels for real-time experiences
Follow design reference and interpret/optimize for experience
Proactively identify and adapt executed designs to deal with issues before anyone notices because you test, and test again.
Lead and participate in rapid prototyping to test feasibility of concepts.
Collaborate in development of task lists, estimates, schedules, milestones and overall project goals as necessary
Actively participate in the QA process to identify and fix bugs
Supervision of junior level designers as required

Requirements Required:

Minimum 4 years experience, working in a level design capacity, integrating assets and designing, building, and populating levels on shipped titles.
Deep understanding of interactive level design process: level flow, pace, engagement, structure, environment, storytelling, etc.
Extensive experience with UE & Blueprints (or Kismet) scripting, building levels/mods
Strong artistic ability, confidence to visualize entire levels and detail with minimal concept art and direction.
Collaborative, team-player attitude: open and receptive to new ideas, constructive criticism, direction and changes.
Ability to switch between a wide range of styles. Interest and capacity to work with proprietary toolsets.
Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision
Excellent communication/collaboration skills.
Portfolio of relevant experience is required – show us your chops: documents, images, diagrams, movies of walk-throughs or levels are needed. Please have them ready and accessible.

Desired:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Passion for game development, and working in VR or AR
Basic understanding of scripting languages: C++, Python.
Experience with Unity, FrostEd, Hammer, Radiant or other level design / editor tools
Understanding of FX/particle systems and lighting implementation in engine
Experience with Substance Designer/Painter
