Job Description

The Video Editing Coordinator provides operational support to the Lucasfilm Video Production asset management & production teams.

Thoroughly log assets with clearly defined metadata in the Avid Interplay system in order to make all Behind the Scenes (BTS) material easily searchable by members of editorial
Transcribe key cast & crew interviews
Handle & pull selects for film production BTS asset requests or review
In partnership with Sr Creative Producer and Lead Video Content Creative, assist in creation of story / concept ideas, pitch sheets, briefs, or presentations for BTS content based on existing BTS material
Quickly communicate concerns regarding needed or missing BTS content
Monitor and report out on BTS status to internal teams
Effectively interact with internal and external clients, as needed

Requirements

Minimum 2 years’ experience in video production, editorial, or post-production
Minimum 1 year experience at major entertainment company, or agency, strongly preferred
Capability of editing on an Avid a plus
Knowledge of Star Wars universe strongly preferred
Extremely strong organizational and time management skills
Strong communicator – both written and verbal
Capable of making sound decisions in the absence of detailed instructions
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple demands with professional diplomacy
Flexible, receptive, and open to change
Self-directed, detail-oriented and a problem solver with a desire to contribute to a uniquely creative environment

Assistant Technical Director – Project

Job Description

Lucasfilm Animation is looking for an Assistant Technical Director to help produce and maintain a smoothly running 3D Story pipeline. This position is responsible for all technical matters in the story phase of production, including show setup, technical support, show QC, packaging, as well as tool design and integration.

Understanding and assisting with any technical issues for the 3D Story Department Pipeline.
Under supervision from the Lead Lighting Technical Director, develop tools (scripting and programming) for the 3D Story department.
Assist in Show Setup and Packaging, and maintain all the tools required to perform these tasks.
QC and problem solve for issues of all media coming into, being used by, and then delivered out of the 3D Story Department.
Assist the 3D Story artists with any technical matters that they may have.
Contribute to the success of both the 3D Story Creative and Pipeline Department through actively supporting operational tasks as well as identifying and addressing potential issues/problems.
Learn and follow coding conventions and standards.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
2-3 plus years of experience working within the animation industry.

Required Skills/Competencies:

Ability to work well in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.
Ability to handle multiple tasks.
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to communicate at both a technical and non-technical level with colleagues.
Must be able to handle critique and (code) review.

Preferred Skills/Competencies:

Strong interest in animation story process preferred.

Technical Skills:

Must have demonstrated expertise in the Maya software package.
Demonstrated programming skills: Python and Mel.
Strong understanding of animation production and development process.
Working knowledge of a Unix-like operating system also preferred.

Post Production Coordinator – Project

Job Description

Post Production Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Post Production Manager for all animated content projects for Lucasfilm Animation. Provide administrative and scheduling support regarding internal services and external vendors. Support the editorial teams and production as needed.

Support Post Production Manager and show Producers across all Post duties, including:

Assist with maintaining post production schedules; organizing meetings for Lucasfilm Animation production and vendors to facilitate effective communication and operations.
Managing conference & screening room bookings; liaising directly with clients to arrange shipping of delivery items.
Assist with ensuring day-to-day operations are on track, as required, when Post Production Manager is off site.
Help schedule and facilitate all internal Post facilities such as editorial suites, Color Correction Suite, and master control room operations (MCR).
Under Post Production Manager supervision, specifically assist with managing & navigating editorial and MCR priorities; assist with technical QC of all materials out of Editorial post production related and MCR, and delivery to clients. Maintain timely and accurate updates for productions.
Work closely with Post Production Manager to improve workflows and increase efficiency within Animation division.

Requirements

Education/Experience:

Bachelors Degree in Film or related field desired, or equivalent experience.
Any production or post-production media acquisitions experience (e.g., timecode, logging, capturing).

Required Skills/Competencies:

3+ years’ experience in animation environment or post production environment, ideally at coordinator level or above.
Ability to develop and document workflows.
Proficient with Google Apps for Work, and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Must be capable of working independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail, time management, communication, and follow up/follow through skills required.
Needs to demonstrate a high level of initiative, flexibility and confidentiality. Willingness to learn.
Ability to multi-task efficiently within a high-pressure, fast paced environment while meeting strict deadlines.

Preferred Skills/Competencies:

Avid experience, Final Cut or Adobe Premier experience a plus.
Filemaker Pro, Shotgun or database experience a plus.

Technical Skills:

Knowledgeable with Avid Media/Film Composer or other non-linear editing system.

Senior Editor

Job Description

The Lucasfilm Video Production Senior Editor is responsible for the editing of all video pieces assigned from initial creative concept to final delivery.
The Sr. Editor will take direction from the Sr. Creative Producer to produce a wide range of video products including: book trailers, TV spots, marketing sizzles and trade show reels, PR EPK’s, brand reels, bonus material, web docs, internal corporate videos and long form documentaries.
The Sr. Editor is the primary storyteller, responsible for selecting sound bites, music, video, stills, graphics and sound design elements to best tell their stories.

Responsibilities:

The on time, on budget completion of all phases of the edit
To follow all internal editing workflows and media management protocols as per the Sr Creative Producer
Preparing rough cuts for all review milestones
Tracking and implementation of all review notes
Final sound mix and color correction
Final QC and delivery in any format required

Requirements

Skills:

Expert in Avid Media composer
Knowledge in Avid, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premier and Pro Tools.
Understanding of Motion Graphics creation and tools
Avid Interplay system experience preferred
Understanding of administrative software (Word, Excel, Acrobat, etc.)
Ability to work independently with little supervision
Ability to work in a fast, multi-task environment
Ability to interact professionally with the LVP team and clients
Deep understanding of the content of our Star Wars franchise

Experience:

Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience as an editor in Film, Television or advertising industry.
Movie Trailer and/or TV spot editing experience
Documentary editing experience
Working with high level executives and clients
