Job Description

The Art ATD solves technical production issues, defines work flows, streamlines processes, and develops tools/frameworks for art.

• Develop appropriate art pipelines and workflow, working in conjunction with the Art Leads and the programming team.
• Solve technical production issues.
• Streamline art workflows and pipelines by developing tools/scripts/plugins in the art process; work with programming and tools team members.
• Create technically sound art and art frameworks.
• Excel as a team player and strive to maximize team/department performance.
• Performs special tasks as assigned.
• Develop an area or multiple areas of expertise.
• Demonstrates ability to be proactive and anticipating potential problems before they occur and follows through on every task assigned.

• Work well under deadlines and multi-tasks.
• Must be willing to work overtime when requested.

CG Supervisor

Job Description

The ADG Computer Graphics and Rendering Supervisor is responsible for envisioning, specifying, implementing and using rendering, lighting and shading technologies, pipelines and workflows that deliver film quality imagery while absolutely respecting the real time authoring environment of a modern game engine.

As Visionary/Planner/Deliverer:

• Develop and deliver leading edge techniques and workflows for lighting and rendering that include but are not limited to the following:
o Optimal visual quality across real time, non-real time and traditional software rendering pipelines.
o Lighting techniques and workflows tailored to Characters (including hair, cloth, skin and eyes), Particle effects, Rigid Body Simulations, Environments and hard surface assets.
o Suggestions for Rendering pathway alternatives, options, optimizations targeting highest levels of visual fidelity while maintaining interactive frame rates.
o Color space and finishing pipelines the cover the delivery of final frames and feature film quality as well as the final polish of visual environments on a shipping AAA title.
o Evaluating and investigating new vendors, new software packages and new techniques.
o Running benchmark tests and establishing new technical budgets.

• Develop and deliver leading edge techniques and workflows for asset authoring across departments and media channels. This includes but is not limited to:

o Geometric manufacturing methodology to ensure asset longevity.
o Texturing and shading portability across software packages and facilities.
o Asset management to ensure the highest possible opportunity for asset reuse.
o Defining lookdev workflows that ensure consistent look of asset across rendering pipelines.
o Defining and standardizing publishing techniques to allow for the derivation of pipeline specific assets from a high res canonical source asset.
o Evaluating and investigating new vendors, new software packages and new techniques.
o Running benchmark tests and establishing new technical budgets.

As Leader/Mentor:

• Drive visual quality, pipeline consistency and technical excellence in asset authoring, lighting and rendering.
• Create documentation and tutorials relating to technical issues to educate department subordinates as well as collaborators from other disciplines.
• Work with programming and tools teams to develop tools/scripts/plug-ins to streamline art processes.
• Work with other depts. to establish technical cross dependencies for projects.
• Comfortable and proficient in outsourcing pipelines. Must be able and willing to help work with outsourcers to train them in new working methodologies when necessary.
• Responsible for managing a growing a team and its interaction with other departments
• Assist in sourcing, interviewing, and hiring of new candidates as the team grows.
• Participate in pre-production planning to determine and address technical design requirements and issues.
• Participate in bidding and scheduling meetings for both development and production tasks as necessary.
• Responsible for generating, monitoring, and updating schedules, deliverables and due dates for teams targets.

As Artist/Collaborator/Doer:

• Work with Various departments to ensure consistent manufacturing techniques for digital assets
• Set up and light scenes, sequence or shots as necessary.
• Solve technical production issues, especially those related to lighting and rendering.
• Script utilities/tools/plug-ins in various software packages.

Associate Editor

Job Description

Associate Editor works closely with Lead Editors, Director, Producer, Assistant Editor, Coordinator and Associate Production Manager on an Animated Series Production.

The Associate Editor is responsible for supporting the lead editors by assembling and maintaining the episodes. This entails tracking down missing shots and/or audio. The Associate Editor is responsible for aiding the assistant editors with the ingestion of dailies (story-final) and communicating errors and discrepancies to the First Assistant. He/she is also responsible for temporary sound and/or music editing. The Associate Editor may also run Episodic Director reviews if the Lead Editors are unavailable

Requirements

Helps Lead Editors establish work procedures for cutting room and how it’s expected to function and perform.
Assembles first picture cuts for Lead Editors.
Pull, cut, and conform all temp sound effects under creative direction of Director and Editors.
Support Daily Duties (from various disciplines) when needed.
Temp Sound FX, especially during Full Color reviews.
Backup Editor when he/she is sick or on vacation by leading editorial sessions and sweatbox.
Tackle special editorial projects and presentations, home video included.
Communicate and prepare turnovers to various recipients.
Screening and Mix Duties, and screening preparation.
Post Production.
Make sure sound quality is at the highest quality for all screenings.
Collaborate with Producer, Post Production Supervisor and Associate Production Manager.
Provide mentoring and training to editorial team.
Education / Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Film, Digital Media, related field or equivalent work experience

Required Skills / Competencies:

4 years experience in a TV/Feature Editorial Capacity
2 years Editorial experience in Animated TV/Films
Advance technical knowledge of AVID Media Composer
Understanding of Animation pre-production, production and post production processes

Preferred Skills / Competencies:

After Effects.
Photoshop.
Filemaker Pro or database experience.
Presentation knowledge a plus.

Technical Skills:

Avid Media/Film Composer.
Smoke, or high-resolution conforming knowledge a plus.
DI and mastering knowledge a plus.
Python a plus.
Linux a plus.

Requirements

Primary Responsibilities:

• Illustrates, and completes storyboards within production timelines.
• Pitches boards to directors and story crew; makes revisions as required.
• Collects visual references.
• Ability to come up with inventive ideas and story material.
• Willingness to rework material multiple times while keeping a fresh eye.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

• Bachelor’s degree and 3-4 years in feature film or television production, or equivalent experience.
• Experience or knowledge of cinematic techniques, language and shot composition required.
• Extensive training in and/or strong demonstrable understanding of the principles of art and film.
• Expertise in scene, shot, camera, and character composition is required.
• Experience working with high-end 3D tools such as Maya desired.
• Highly proficient at rendering imaginary scenes with little or no reference.
• Proficiency in Photoshop required, as well as familiarity with Wacom tablet/pen.
• Demo reel and/or portfolio required.
