Job Description

The Lucasfilm Advanced Development Group (ADG) is looking for a Senior Tools Engineer to join our team!!
ADG develops tools and techniques for high-quality computer graphics and simulation. Our goal is to expand and enhance the process of creative storytelling in the Star Wars universe through real-time rendering of visuals that approach motion picture quality.
As a Senior Tools Engineer with ADG you will have a key role in empowering content creators through the delivery of high quality, cutting edge software. This will include world-editors, object editors, cinematic and lighting tools, plugins asset management, and everything needed to take creative ideas from inception to delivery.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop and support tools in our production pipeline
• Work with artists and designers to ensure tools meet the desired goals
• Identify inefficiencies and create solutions
• Continuously improve the user experience and performance of our tools
• Plan and manage tasks and schedules effectively
• Collaborate with other engineers to form a highly productive team.

Requirements

Experience:

• Strong knowledge of C#/C/C++
• Deep experience of developing tools running on Windows
• Experience in creating one or more of the following applications: level editor, animation/cinematic editor, material/shader editor, plug-ins, build tools, lighting tools
• Self-motivated individual with excellent problem solving skills
• Strong architectural skills; experienced with building and maintaining large codebases

Preferred Experience:

• 7+ years of prior experience of coding in the role of Tools Engineer
• Past role as owner/lead of substantial tool or application
• Experience with WinForms and WPF
• Experience with DCC tools such as Maya/Max and their APIs
• Experience of Python

Job Description

The Lucasfilm Advanced Development Group (ADG) is looking for a Pipeline Engineer to join our team.
ADG develops tools and techniques for high-quality computer graphics and simulation. Our goal is to expand and enhance the process of creative storytelling in the Star Wars universe through real-time rendering of visuals that approach motion picture quality.
As a Pipeline Engineer with ADG you will have a key role assisting with the design and development of the software and processes with which content creators move their work between tools, both off the shelf and custom. Your code development will have a direct impact on the day to day efficiency of our team, and ultimately the quality of everything we produce.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in the Design and develop and support our new production pipeline
• Work with artists and designers to ensure requirements are well defined and met.
• Continuously improve the user experience and performance of our pipeline.
• Applies principles of computer science, engineering and mathematics to maintain and troubleshoot new and existing software and systems.
• Collaborate with other engineers to form a highly productive team.

Requirements

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Python/C/C++
• Experience in assisting with architecting and designing pipelines for both off-the-shelf and custom packages.
• History of getting Tool A to efficiently communicate with Tool B through whatever means necessary.
• Self-motivated individual with excellent problem solving skills
• Strong architectural skills; experienced with building and maintaining large codebases

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Scientific discipline, advanced degree preferred
• 4 -6 years of overall experience with a minimum of 2 years experience coding in the role of Pipeline Engineer
• Experience of developing for both Windows and Linux
• Experience with DCC tools such as Maya/Max and their APIs
• Experience of version control systems for assets.
• Experience of web development.

The Lucasfilm Advanced Development Group (ADG) is looking for a Senior Rendering Engineer to join our team.
ADG develops tools and techniques for high-quality computer graphics and simulation. Our goal is to expand and enhance the process of creative storytelling in the Star Wars universe through real-time rendering of visuals that approach motion picture quality.
As a part of ADG you will develop new techniques for real-time rendering, deliver tools and technology that empower storytellers, and collaborate with our sister company, Industrial
Light & Magic, to leverage existing knowledge and solutions. You will set new bars for what can be achieved with real-time rendering.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, prototype, and implement solutions for high-fidelity rendering in a real-time context.
• Extend and create solutions for lighting, VFX, post-processing
• Provide deep domain expertise in the area of rendering.
• Work with artists to develop and implement their vision.
• Plan and manage tasks and schedules effectively.
• Collaborate with other engineers to form a highly productive team.

Requirements

Required Skills

• Excellent 3D math skills (linear algebra, vector math)
• Strong graphics background
• Strong knowledge of C/C++ programming languages
• Deep experience of one or more of industry standard graphics APIs (DirectX, OpenGL, Etc)
• Deep experience of shader languages (HLSL/GLSL/Cg)
• Self-motivated individual with excellent problem solving skills

Preferred Experience

• 7+ years of prior experience of coding in the role of Graphics Engineer
• Experience of developing Global Illumination solutions
• Experience with GPGPU or Compute shaders on environments
• Understanding of software-based renderers (e.g. RenderMan, Arnold, Maxwell, V-Ray, etc)
• Experience with DCC tools such as Maya/Max
• Experience of subdivision surfaces
