This interesting role will report to our Global Head of Training and Development and will work to evolve our internal communication tools so they are current, streamlined and engaging.

Duties and responsibilities:

Responsible for maintaining an intranet built on Silverstripe and used in five MPC sites globally
Responsible for maintaining the company discussion forums
Provide prompt user support for all our web-based communication platforms
Develop and extend the current intranet with new functionality where required.
Information management: Ensuring information in the intranet is well structured and locatable
Conduct regular reports and auditing for out of date information, broken links, etc.
Quality control: ensuring accuracy, maintaining house style; advising on editorial policy.
Research our on-going communications tools requirements, including field studies of current approaches, software and assessing alternatives.
Implement new technologies where required.
Working with the Global Head of HR Film on HR related pages, outlining policies, procedures and management news.
Working with PR to promote company and internal events, opportunities, news and local deals.

Applicants will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

Web design and development experience, ideally with an open source CMS such as Silverstripe, Drupal or Joomla
Software skills: PHP, jQuery, CSS and HTML
Friendly, customer service oriented demeanour
Flexible can-do attitude
Proven team player with good organisation and communication skills
Experience working under tight deadlines with multiple clients
Ability to own and follow-through on projects when required

Production Operations Manager

Description

Overall responsible for render, storage, data I/O service to show productions. Manage the Production Operations department who take care of technical operations and technical capacity planning for our Film VFX business. This team encompasses Data I/O, Render and Data operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Overall responsible for ensuring productions have the render and data capacity and services they need to deliver against production deadlines.
Working with show production managers to understand show requirements and schedules.
Regular forecasting of production requirements and notify Head Of Technology as soon as there is signs of forecast exceeding capacity.
Act as the primary interface with Production for render and data operational issues, escalations and new requirements.
Work with Technology team to ensure new production requirements are delivered against promptly.
Manage team members, shift rosters, performance appraisals, holiday and sickness etc
Responsible for Production Operations department delivering a high level of service to internal productions.
Ensure working practices are documented and consistently followed.
Work with subject area experts across the facility to increase productivity and efficiency in use of technical resources.
Chair the weekly Digital Resources meeting.
Provide regular reporting to central and show production for forecast vs actual technical capacity.
Work with central production management to set priorities and ensure they are adhered to.
Develop and run a structured training program for all junior team members to give them solid foundation knowledge of how MPC operates.
Establish and maintain appropriate systems for measuring critical aspects of operational performance.
Drive the career progression of all team members so that Production Operations acts as the primary feeder department for Production and Technology.

Requirements:

Self-motivated to develop and drive a department with a specific pro-active approach to solving problems and improving workflows.
Proven experience of leading and managing a skilled team in business critical operations
Communicate effectively at all levels with the ability to tailor messages to audience, challenge with tact and demonstrate the ability to influence key members of staff.
Ability to forward plan and continually critically asses own performance and that of the team
Excellent prioritisation skills to manage resources and deadlines.
Very strong analytical and organizational skills with a process-oriented approach but able to quickly adapt to exceptions.
A customer service oriented manager who takes ownership of issues and drives continuous improvement
Proven experience in the ability to engage with key stakeholders, staff, clients and senior technologists to implement new processes and practices.
The ability to be objective, consistently supportive and work calmly and efficiently during busy periods and under pressure.

Work in conjunction with artists and the Software Development Team to ensure shots can be delivered to the very highest standard
Translate production requests into technical implementation
Write RenderMan shaders (REYES and RIS) and plugins to create a photorealistic images
Provide shader, lighting and rendering support
Contribute to development of rendering tools for creatures, environments, props, and FX

Experience and Skills

Proven experience in feature film visual effects production
Good understanding of modern light transport algorithms including unidirectional path tracing with multiple importance sampling. Bidirectional path tracing is a plus
Solid understanding of the entire 3D-VFX process
Fluency in RenderMan’s Shading Language and C++
Good computer skills, particularly with UNIX/Linux command line interface
