VFX Production Manager

Description

Job Description

Work as part of the VFX production team to implement viable VFX solutions
Communicate with producers, coordinators, creative and technical leads regarding directives and production requirements of specific projects
Develop project plans and schedules for the production team.
Work with production coordinators to ensure deadlines are met.
Support/work with the VFX Producer to create master and delivery schedules for the production.
Oversee the coordination of dailies and reviews, ensuring accurate notes are taken and production priorities are distributed and followed through
Act as client liaison to facilitate VFX turnovers with editorial and communicate progress and deliveries of the VFX work
Oversee outputs and client deliveries
Create and maintain weekly status reports to track costs and shot progress.
Forecast and communicate any delays or overages, escalating any issues to the VFX producer and/or management where required.
Propose new and efficient ways to improve production workflow at Mr. X

Skills Required

Qualifications

Must have at least 3-5 Years of VFX Production experience
Must have thorough knowledge and ability to use MS Office, Shotgun, FileMaker and to learn proprietary studio tools quickly and effectively.
The candidate must have the ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical
Candidate must be able to lead and work within a team environment
3D and/or on-set production experience is a must.

Screening Room Operator

Description

Mr. X is looking for a highly motivated Screening Room Operator for our Toronto Studio.

Responsibilities:

Operate Davinci Resolve and other editing software during Visual Effects reviews
Maintain the dailies schedule, ensuring priorities are met, and dailies are started on time.
Work closely with VFX editorial and production staff to ensure edits are up to date and all the latest VFX versions included
Assist in setting up new projects ensuring editorial formats of the pipeline are in place,
Review updated edits and spot for continuity issues or changes to Visual Effects shots
Support for delivery of visual effects shots, including but not limited to: creating Quicktimes and digital file wrangling for film outs and final deliveries,
Organize directories and files in a logical and organized manner, adhering to established protocols
General production support
Additional Specific duties to be determined on a project by project basis.

Qualifications:

Manage multiple projects and work efficiently with tight deadlines in a professional manner.
Exercise independent decision making and creative judgment in the development of projects.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical school certification in film editing or computer graphics, or equivalent work experience. (Experience must be in animation, film or digital effects).
Minimum one year of editing experience with online or offline editorial
Advanced knowledge of Avid and Final Cut Pro or other editing software.
A passion for video editing, and a keen eye.

Senior Pipeline TD

Job Description

Work with our head of CG and supervisors to build and maintain pipeline tools, techniques and procedures to support current projects and advance the capabilities of the facility for the future.
Come up with elegant solutions and tools to speed up workflows, alleviate bottlenecks and facilitate production.
Candidates will be required to contribute to their area of specialty (FX, Lighting, etc.) and overall back end development.
Looking for someone who is motivated, proactive and self-starting. This is both a creative and technical position.

Qualifications

At least 5 years of development experience, preferably in a production environment.
A firm grasp of python, MEL, Qt, Pyside, HTML/Javascript, Git Required. Knowledge of C and C++ is a plus.
A solid grasp of shotgun application dev, along with developing tools for Maya, Houdini, Arnold, Vray, Mantra, RV, Nuke, Qt UI design, video/image/audio formats/compression and networking.
Experience working with the following frameworks: sqlalchemy, quicktime, opengl and opencl.
Experience with the following tools: virtualenv, apache, postgresql, alembic and compilers
Must be a problem solver with good communication skills who can bring new ideas and solutions to the table.
Functional knowledge of Linux based distributions.

Modeling/Texture Artist

We are currently looking for a talented Modeling/Texture Artist.

Responsibilities:

3D Modeling and Texturing for feature films, using a wide range of reference material,
Work very closely with the shader writers, look development artists and the riggers to generate organic or rigid object models that are suitable for feature film work,
Creating textures for CG Assets
With guidance from CG Supervisors, helping to determine the best approach to solve 3D challenges and develop final look.

Qualifications:

Strong spatial awareness and a good sense of form, scale and proportion, and a keen eye for detail,
A full working knowledge of modeling in Maya is required,
Ability to deliver a model with clean topology and strong UV layout skills for texturing,
Ability to work with Z-brush and/or Mudbox
A full working knowledge of Photoshop basics

Office Admin/Receptionist

Responsibilities:

Act as the Main Office Administrator – reception, mail management, sending/receiving courier packages, Client relations, etc.
Maintain company directories with current contact information, phone extensions, etc.
Travel Coordination – includes; booking flights, hotels, long stay accommodations, preparing travel itineraries, arranging taxis, and so on.
Event planning for wrap parties, movie days and other company events.
Organize the RMT visits.
Expense tracking and submission using Concur.
Assist with the Joint Health and Safety Committee.
Manage office supplies inventory, including stationary, kitchen supplies, light bulbs and so on.
Oversee current security/key fob system, sign in guests and manage visitor NDAs

Job Description:

Works with supervisors and peers to build and support the Lighting tools, techniques and procedures to support current projects and advance the capabilities of the facility.
The role requires strong technical and communication skills, as well as a firm understanding of lighting, shading, compositing, color theory, software design, graphics, and production work flow.
Candidates will be required to contribute to lighting, and overall back end development.
Design, create and maintain tools using APIs provided by the various DCC applications.
Work with artists to troubleshoot and fix problems arising in the Technical Director’s area(s) of expertise

Qualifications:

Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent work experience
Proficiency with Houdini, Maya, Nuke, Shotgun, Python and PySide.
General understanding of modern rendering algorithms.
Experience with a variety of pathtracers, including Mantra, RedShift, RenderMan and V-Ray is a plus.
Experience with pipeline integration, rendering, asset management systems and databases
Minimum 3 years visual effects production experience required
Ability to quickly master proprietary tools and development processes.
Creative problem solving skills
Must be detail oriented, organized, have good communication skills, and be able to independently handle a variety of tasks in an efficient manner.

Character FX TD

Job Description

This role tends to vary between projects, as we adapt to the needs of the characters/creatures we create in collaboration with filmmakers.

Work closely with CG supervisors to develop best approach for technical challenges associated with character simulations.
Develop new techniques and processes to solve character production challenges.
Collaborate with Asset, Rigging, and Animation teams to develop effective and efficient physically-based simulation assets and rigs, that meet creative and technical needs.
Develop tools and best practices associated with character simulation.
Develop and maintain character motion and deformation systems; secondary dynamics systems.
Perform tasks such as Character finaling, cloth setup, hair setup and simulation as it pertains to character animation.
Capable of writing pipeline tools to streamline the setup and shot-making processes.
Work with production management to prioritize tasks.

Qualifications

In depth knowledge of Maya, including Maya rigging, modeling, cloth and hair techniques; preferably 3+ years of production experience. No cross-training available due to the timeframe.
Strong understanding of both Facial and Figure Anatomy – biped and quadruped.
High level of understanding for physically based simulation techniques and how they relate to film.
Complex character/vehicle rigging experience in Maya in film/broadcast or games environments.
Experience with finaling and PSD workflows.
Ability to work with and organize complex, physically-based assets.
MEL, Python and C++ experience.
Knowledge of Mudbox and/or Zbrush is preferable.
Experience with setting up production pipelines while being able to follow guidelines.
Strong artistic aptitude with a discipline in hyperrealism as opposed to perceptual representationalism.
