Responsibilities and duties:

Report regularly to the Visual Effects Lead informing him/her of any concerns or new developments
Identify to the Visual Effects Lead problems that could potentially present with respect to timelines and delivery schedules
Respect and adapt to the Nerd Corps system of data storage and retrieval through the use of the in-house software
Make sure that all work done is accounted for and entered in the tracking system (SPARCX)
Acts as a resource to Animators for layout/lighting/background questions
Helps director watch for render errors/missing composite elements, such as gel layers, missing glows, etc
Communicate to Animators about elements that may be needed or used for their sequences
Watch animatics of his/her episode for errors & shots missing composites, stay current with the show and what stage of production it is at
Balance the creative needs, technical resources and time available
Composite shots for the show in a timely manner and try to get the most number of shots done in the time available
Make sure the schedule is being followed and that the director is getting compositing shots ready so there’s always work to be done. If director is informed of shortage of shots and there is still not enough work, inform the Visual Effects Lead so he/she can deal with it.
Follow the creative direction of the production as communicated by the Visual Effects Lead.
Work with the senior staff of the visual effects team to learn as much as possible about the methods and software used when compositing

Qualifications and competencies:

Solid understanding of compositing methods

Create and texture geometry consistent with production designs of sets, props, and characters.

Render images of the models you create for approval/circulation.

Construct creative solutions for recurring visual effects in TV production.

Train and mentor new Effects Animators and compositors who are placed on the crew and explain production methods.

Responsibilities and duties:

Developing and maintaining custom web-based applications and property websites for our corporate needs

Assisting in testing and providing quality assurance for the software

Qualifications and experience:

B.Sc in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Solid foundation in software development methodologies, data structures, client/server paradigms and object-oriented paradigms
Good working knowledge of web-based technologies including PHP, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX/JSON and HTML/CSS
Strong SQL skills and knowledge of relational database design. Experience with MySQL is preferred

About the position:

Responsibilities and duties:

Create original concepts and designs for the production that appear in the show
Finalize and clean up designs (include turnarounds and rotations)
Keep designs manageable and in line with the modelling days allotted for it
Keep Design Coordinator in the loop on all activities and any issues that may arise
Execute changes on designs based on feedback from Art Director
Maintain the show style with designs and keep designs working within the story specifications
Demonstrate strong visual interpretation skills with an ability to communicate ideas effectively

Qualifications and experience:

2+ years in graphic design
BA/BFA Degree in Fine Arts or Commercial Arts field an asset, but not required
Must have strong 2D design experience
3D design and modelling experience a definite asset

Junior Sound Editor

Department: Sound

About the Position:

The Junior Sound Editor works full-time, Monday through Friday, under the supervision of Nerd Corps Sound Supervisor.

Responsibilities and duties:

Import and convert Avid media, sync and edit dialogue, prepare for mix.
Dialogue edit and assess original production sound tracks for the clearest reading of dialogue and correct imperfections such as ‘clicks’, ‘pops’ of ‘lip smacks’.
Edit all foley and prepare for mix.
Convert audio recordings into digital formats for editing or archiving.
Assemble, operate and maintain technical equipment.
Set-up, test operating equipment, adjust microphones.
Monitoring working condition of all sound equipment and alert Sound Department Head of repairs that may be needed.
Ensure that all mix sessions are backed up and properly archived.
Coordinate with post production department to make sure final sound delivery deadlines are met.

Qualifications and experience:

At least one year of sound editing experience.
Pro-Tools knowledge A MUST
Good technical knowledge of sound recording equipment is essential.
Excellent hearing and a good sense of timing are required, along with patience and stamina for working long hours.
Attention to detail and good communication skills a must.
Must be computer literate and have a good working knowledge of sound recording, playback, editing and mixing equipment also experience in the various soundtrack delivery systems.
Strong understanding of post sound procedures, production and workflow.

Production Coordinator

Department: Production

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic individual to join our production team.

Responsibilities and duties:

Script Breakdown and Distribution

Breakdown script and create design and modelling asset list
Be the point person for all script drafts coming from the writer(s)
Track distribution of script drafts internally and externally
Monitor the script schedule and make the Production Manager aware of any missed deadlines
Collect, track the progress and organize all script notes internally and from all external clients
Compile notes into one cohesive document to be passed onto the writer(s)
Ensure all script notes have been address and responded to accordingly

Asset Tracking

Update design and modelling list as changes arise
Complete and submit work order assignments for Design and Modelling teams
Follow up on progress of teams and ensure jobs are running on time
Monitor and update work order status and report any delays in the schedule to the PM

Voice Record Preparation

Ensure line counts are within allocated budget and update cast list
Ensure voice record draft is up to date with last minute dialogue changes and distribute scripts to agents/actors for the voice record
Coordinate craft service for the voice record

General Production

Assist Senior Production Coordinator in estimation of days to complete animation and Storyboard Animatic breakdown
Tracking storyboarding schedule and attend hand off meetings with Series Director
Coordinate and attend production meetings as required
Distribute production communications within the teams and externally

Qualifications:

Systems Administrator

About the position:

Nerd Corps Entertainment is looking for an energetic Systems Administrator to join our IT team.

Responsibilities and duties:

System Administration

Provide desktop support to production staff and artists’ workstations
Take a lead role in assisting production staff, artists and software department with technical problems
Ensure all computer systems are up to date with security patches, virus software, and application patches
Keep up to date with current technologies
Be open to integrating new ideas and methodologies
Work closely with the software department to ensure software runs properly and securely
Provide hardware support—this includes working with hardware vendors to troubleshoot, RMA and fix damaged or faulted hardware
Troubleshoot basic network problems
Troubleshoot and administer peripherals, printers, photocopiers and VoIP systems
Work closely with the IT manager and other IT staff to brainstorm ideas and diagnostics to solve technical issues and improve the operations of the IT Department and Nerd Corps as a whole
Be mindful of the safety, security and confidentiality of Nerd Corps and its staff and clients
Carry out duties in a professional and positive manner

Network/System Security

Maintain system and workstation security policies defined by the IT Department
Work with senior IT staff to enforce Nerd Corps network and system security policy
Work proactively towards system and network security—this includes implementing new systems and changes to the current infrastructure with security in mind
Educate staff on common security procedures and requirements of safe and secure computing

Qualifications and competencies:

2+ years experience in IT role
Formal education/degree in computer systems
